- Let's get back to the classics this week. There's many theories as to where the name of this drink came from. Lot's of people named Alexander like to lay claim to it, but I believe otherwise.

My moms favorite drink. But these young “bartenders” look at you totally perplexed when you order this classic drink. Only ol’school bartenders like this cool dude gentleman know how to PROPERLY prepare such a drink. I wanted to make sure I get this right to make one for mom on New Years. Watched like 6 CZcamss until ran into this last one ... THE BEST! Plus he’s also likable and unpretentious. Thank you!!!!!
Thanks for the comment William. Did your mom enjoy it?
You had me at "Oh yeah"
Making this right now.
Edit: Courvoisier V•S•O•P, De Kuyper Creme de Cacao light, Heavy whipping cream, fresh ground nutmeg.
OH YEAH, truly delightful Bruce, thank you!
Thanks for tuning in! Cheers
Loved the 70’s, I was too young to drink “legally “ but you know how that goes.😅 I enjoyed getting sloshed at school dances! 😅😅😅
Ha, same!!
Wisconsin Supper clubs still serve a ton of these in the ice cream form...YUMMY
Sounds interesting. I may have to try that.
my wife and I love this cocktail, thanks for another great video! keep it up Bruce and Crew!
+David Lemonds I'm glad you both enjoyed it, it's an oldie but a goodie. Cheers to you both!
This guy’s the man

+Terry Blackmore Thanks Terry! Have a good one, cheers!
Another great looking cocktail. You always have great stories with all your drinks. I'd love to hear about some of the customers. Cheers!

recently been drinking a lot of these, awesome stuff
Can’t go wrong. Thanks for tuning in.
Great Video as usual!
Thanks for watching! Cheers
Not really into sweet type drinks however have been meaning to try this one and I am sure friends and family would enjoy it. Just need to pick up the creme de cocoa. Always tend to gravitate to the whisky and gin section of the liquor store. Need to be resolute and charge ahead to the mixer section avoiding eye contact with the campari(it is enjoyed too much), push past the schnapps (truth be told I have a locally made peach schnapps from Dillons Distillery who uses Niagara peache that is not a sugar syrup mess and is excellent) and finally pick up a bottle of creme de cocoa. Knowing it is not just a ice cream dessert is a plus. Great information.
You won't regret it. Brandy Alexander is my absolute favorite after dinner cocktail. It should be classified as a sin it's so good.
Will be making one of this to celebrate Brandy Alexander Day on January 31!!
Good video, very educational and in deep. Keep up the good work Bruce

Your channel is like a TV show.nice
Thank you! Glad you’re enjoying it.
Yea, I'd hang out at his bar
Hey there Bruce was looking back at your Brandy Alexander video just to double-check how to make this correctly I'm sure I could check it any old website but I prefer your commentary, and I'm actually going to experiment with some other Brandi's to see if I can make it potentially better Brandy Alexander. For the first variation I'll be using a Metaxa which is a Greek Brandy which has flavors of apricot, prunes, red wine and various spices. If you haven't had Metaxa yet if you can get a bottle get the seven star bottle I guarantee it'll be a new favorite for your bar! Have a good one Bruce.
I have tried 5 star Metaxa before and it was very smooth on the palate. I haven't tried 7 star yet but I'm guessing the finish would be much longer and more intense. The price between the two is only a few dollars difference so, I'll have to give it a go. Thanks for the suggestion! I'm sure it'll make a fine Brandy Alexander. Cheers
Love it, keep it up, and thank you Bruce
Thank you for watching! Keep checking back lots more on the way.
Still getting to your older videos. Merry Christmas Bruce! Cheers. Didn't know there was a song named after my favorite cocktail Harvey Wallbanger?
Keep tuning in, you’ll learn a lot more useless information. Ha!! Cheers and happy new year!
“Warriors! Come out to plaaaaayaaayy!l
A John Lennon documentary brought me here. Headed to the liquor store now!
Interesting! Thanks for popping by, hope you keep checking back.
Aaah!!! I feel like i gotta be dress well to watch this.....
😂
I just tried this, we'll kinda.🤔 I only had the ice cream and brandy, so mixed those together... good enough to drink😊 I used to use that coffee liqueur but it's too syrupy like lots of those liqueurs. Anyway thanks for the history lesson 👍
Thanks for watching!
Hello Bruce, first of all, Love you channel, I was inspired by watching your videos to do cocktails as a hobby. I love alexander cocktail but I am having trouble here in Argentina to find creme de cocoa. Can you suggest a replacement for this, Its very hard also to know if Creme de chocolate is the same, I dont think it is but.. not sure how to get this ingredient. Thanks and very nice job. PS: Would be nice have a video making Margarita cocktail, cheers
Hi Alessandro! I'm glad you're enjoying the show. Creme de Cacao is a chocolate flavoured liqueur with a slight hint of vanilla. Not having ever tasted Creme de Chocolate I can't say for sure if it's close to Creme de Cacao but, with a name like Creme de Chocolate, my guess is it might be similar. Give it a try and see if it works. Failing that, perhaps I will make some homemade Creme de Cacao on the show. It's really not that difficult to make. It is however very tasty. As for the Margarita, I will be covering that cocktail in the future. Cheers!
@@BarTalkCocktails thank you very much, I will try make one with the creme de chocolate and I will give the feedback. Cheers
Could you suggest a good brandy?
Metaxa Seven Star from Greece, St Remy Signature from France or Marquis De Villard from France are all reasonably priced and won't break the bank. These are good brands for making cocktails with. Usually, the older and longer the brandy is aged the more expensive it is. If you're looking for a nice sipping brandy you could explore Remi Martin, Courvoisier, Hennessy, or Martell XO Cognacs at a reasonable price point. They're extremely smooth and versatile from start to finish having a warm fruity blend and a long balanced finish. There are countless brandies to go out and explore. But, like any spirit, it's all subjective to your palate. Cheers!
could you make grashopper cocktail? please
I have a video on the grasshopper already! Check it out. czcams.com/video/0HwuxhsQlHQ/video.html
Seems tasty! Which brandy did you use?
Hi Igor, it is tasty! I used a relatively inexpensive VSOP brandy called St-Remy - under $30. Canadian. It's an aromatic fruity and spicy brandy aged in small French oak barrels. The bouquet has floral aromas with accents of subtle vanilla tones. It's perfect for mixing or sipping solo. Thanks for watching, cheers!
That was exactly my first thought! Thank you! They sell it in SAQ too :)
I used to make B&Bs with this brandy, but I can't say I know its flavor, because Benedictine kills off anything you mix it with :)
Thanks again, and thank you for the great show!
I love bartending it can be a profitable line of work. Especially if you have quality over quality.
Yes but definitely not profitable during these pandemic times!
It reminds me of a white Russian a bit just different ⛽ if you know what I mean. I watched a respected professional bartender is NO make it he mentioned felt it could be called a chocolate martini by some.
Why Gil from the Simpsons making my drink?
Hahaha yes! I’ve been called worse. I like Gil, he doesn’t ask for much.
Where's the Vanilla Ice Cream ??? Wisconsin Babcock Ice Cream ?? No Brandy Alexander is a true Brandy Alexander without Babcock Ice Cream.
Yes there is a variation using vanilla ice cream. The first noted recipes however did not contain the ice cream. Either way it’s a pretty damn good cocktail.
