Got some time with BigJerm at Waco to learn a thing or two about the forehand for disc golf. Who else would you like me to film with?
Come to Finland at summer and film with Mäkelä or Paju
Nate Sexton. One of the smartest guys in the game if you ask me.
with Paul McBeth please xD
Simon for sure.
Sexton.
Fun fact: My buddy Andrew and I taught Big Jerm how to throw backhand at a little course in Black Mountain at Camp Rockmont Christian camp for boys. We were all councilors that summer.
You're welcome Big Jerm!
Jake! This man speaks the truth 👌
@@bigjermdg Been watching from afar for about a year now. Just recently getting back into the game myself.
Glad you seem to be recovered from your injury. Looking forward to see you tearing it up again once the world gets back to normal!
@MrJre4491 christian camp for boys is not creepy enough for you? lol
@@JH-fk8ow it is if your mind is messed up.. for normal people its just a christian camp for boys.
Heavyweights. You're sending me to fat camp?? Jk.. that looks like a fun camp. Those are rare in most of the country. Not many kids get opportunities for old school sleep away camps
Jeremy is such a clear speaker and direct. very helpful and positive it's great to see!! Thanks for having him on Brodie
I know this is an oldish video but man this is one of the best coaching videos I've seen, explaining so much more than just forehands... also a great explanation of the biomechanics and why forehands are worth using
Love the info and really like the slow mo at the end. Helpful to see the release slowed down like that from various angles. Also great to see all the pros willing to drop knowledge.
Big Jerm: one of the best forehands in the world
Loving all the beginner friendly disc golf content youre putting out! Especially with some of the focus switching from ultimate!
I’m going to the course tomorrow and gonna do an all forehand round after these tips! Thank you Brodie And Jermey
Thanks for this! Just started disc golf this summer and it's always nice to see forehand tutorials rather than basic 1000m drive tutorials, as I'm a forehand player myself. Keep up the good work sir!
Definitely like hearing the advice, tips and discs that you guys trust using 👍🏼
I keep coming back to this video as I work on my forehand. Just watching Jerm throw shorts and analyzing his form has helped me alot.
Watching your journey into disc golf has been an awesome experience so far man, keep it up!
Just started working on my forehand drives after 25 years of disc golf. So many different styles. Always good to get some additional tips and tricks. Thanks BigJerm & Dark Horse. Hopefully, we will see you guys at Worlds here in UT. Not sure you will read this but also would like to bring your attention to the Worlds oldest PDGA player from my hometown, Santa Maria, CA. Check out Don Shinn. He will be turning 100 years old in October. He is planning to play in the Senior PDGA Tournament in Pasadena, CA. He played in it last year. I had the pleasure of playin with him while I was back home this past summer. He is out every morning at 8 throwing 27 holes at Waller Park or Preisker Park. Crazy thing is he only throws a Mamba. Great guy. Tried reachin out to Innova about it but got no where. I believe now a Innova Rep is keeping an eye on him to make sure he will be ready for the Senior PDGA tournament. There is discussion of holding a tournament for his Birthday in October. Hoping to get some Pros out to play since it is not to often you get to play with a 100 year old. Love to see you guys on the tee pad with Don.
Perfect timing! Was out practicing Forehands yesterday and came to the conclusion i needed to find a how to forehand video.
Mid range disc are ok but I find the aviar putter hardest to grip.
Use gripping ultimate discs.
Thank you Brodie and Big Jerm! Very helpful. Enjoy both of your work!
Hey that's the tie dye eagle L, I gave to Big Jerm last year in Vegas. Glad it made it in the bag.
This was EXTREMELY informative, we need lots more videos like this
Jeremy I have to say your DG commentary has really polished your presentation skills and your presence, very very well done!
Brodie I can’t thank you enough for another great video.
🔴⚪️🥏😷
Easily one of the best info videos I've ever seen!!!
Dude! You have no idea how badly I've needed a video like this!
WE WANT A BRODIE: IN THE BAG 2020
Oh really 🤔
Brodie Smith yeah man. The disc golf world is waiting
@@BrodieSmith Very needed lol
Z force, undertaker, 2 esp anax, 2 esp buzzz, 1 biz z meteor, 1 z flex zone, 1 jawbreaker zone, 1 pmb Luna, and 2 roaches for putting?
I get pain on the inside of my elbow any time I attempt to throw sidearm. What are possible causes form-wise? Maybe just learn LHBH?
Thank you. I'm learning so much with these videos.
Great video Brodie and Big Jerm. I agree having a good forehand is important for your game. I have worked on mine the last couple years and have finally started loving it and trusting it. I tried out Big Jerm's run up and have now started using it, and am also loving it
I’ve been doing this exact form but shorting the follow through and getting so much elbow
pain. I’m shocked that you addressed how to fix that, but thank you so much. Great video
Big Jerm is the man, he gave me a few discs in Myrtle Beach around 7 years ago. I still have one of them, lost the other two
This video is almost at a million views! Nice to see Big Jerm sharing his skills and knowledge. He has that effortless flick style that is accurate and easy on the joints. I recently had to change my form because the stress on the elbow. I don't throw as far now but accuracy has improve and no joint pains. I am looking into this style which is even less effort for nearly the same results im getting now. I am glad Brodie caught this session of Jeremy at the Beast it is good reference material in the quest for smooth accurate forehand game.
Enjoyed seeing you and Jeremy day 1 in Waco - that was a lot of fun! BTW, Jeremy's card was fun to follow not only for the great shots but for his funny personality - appreciate both of you making it great for the fans!
Wow! You are a great teacher!! I totally got this after the first demo of your run up! Thank you!!
So excited about this video...as a former Ultimate player, this should be epic. THANKS, Brodie for the continued efforts you're putting forth. This is why you're the infusion the tour needs to take it to the next level.
I just picked up some starter disks and I’m looking forward playing. Thank you for this.
Big Jerm! Hometown hero and a great dude. Good choice Brodie.
Brodie I love your videos keep it up and thanks for the tutorial
Love throwing forehand. Just started to control my backhands. Great video! Thanks
About to go practice sidearms was watching older sidearm clinic videos for some tips. Refreshed CZcams. And bam new sidearm video! The disc golf gods are giving me a sign! Keep up the great work and awesome job in Waco!!! Looking forward to the next tournament!
Can wait to try this. Forehand is something i've been wanting to add to my game but I always drive them into the ground a few feet away....
Wait are we not going to talk about Jerm's beat box...... that was fire.....🔥🔥🔥
Heading out to work on my forehand later (as it's nearly non existent) and Big Jerm has given me some great ideas for things to work on. Cheers Brodie!!
Thanks for calling out the warnings of getting tennis elbow on the forehand. I just started getting it and it being decently painful on the course when regularly throwing forehands and now I'm nursing it, trying to get it back up before I lean into it again.
Loved Jeremy Koling in this instructional vid. Nice clear explanations and demos. Thanks Brodie. Add my name to the list that want to see an in the bag. The best one ever was Jay Yeti Reading, let’s see what you can come up with.🙂
BIG - BRO commentary needs to happen!!
Thank you BigJerm and Broadie!
Love the throws. So smooth, technical, and most importantly, so straight. I would be quite worried about throwing that far because some of my throws would inevitably veer off to the right and into the moving traffic. It would be a disaster. That's what I thought when the video started and I saw traffic so close on the right.
I have really needed to know this. Thank you!
Love that you keep bringing on pros. Get Sexton out at some point please.
Awesome info and good seeing you hang out with some big dawgs!!! Peace
This is the best sidearm video! Thanks guys!
Very well explained by Big Germ. Great video
One of the most underrated fore-handers in the world. He looks like he's giving it 20% power and it goes so far. Pure form.
Underrated? He is literally a guy that people talk about when they talk about good forehand throwers? Him and a few others.
Gotta love Big Jerm! 💪
Enjoying all this content!
Aviar x3 has been my favorite disc for years. Glad Big Jerm agree's
Thanks Jeremy and Brodie
Big Jerm makes it look so easy!!!
Well I found a video as a short about 4 Saturdays ago. Now the whole family is into this we have alot of discs and play every weekend now. I don't see us stopping anytime soon

Golfers elbow in this case!
Im a newbie, started 3 weeks ago. Got Tennis elbow from throwing backhands a lot, but now found that my forehand is way better than my backhand actually!
I came back to this video today, and I like it a lot more. Let’s get more videos with jerm! Foundation should also work on a pro-am soon!
Love these explanation videos for newbies like me :D
Great video. Props for letting him talk about a different manufacturer.
"Never tweeted a twit my guy" - Big Jerm. Real motivation
This is the content we all need.
I literally just asked for this video, YESSSSSS.
Thank you for this video! I had a really hard time getting the forehand technique to work but this video made me realise I was holding the disc wrong in the first place 😂 Big thumbs up! ❤ 👍🏼👍🏼 ❤️
I would love to see Jerm talk about the flick/release point. I feel myself and others have a tendency to flick late or have an awkward quirk where I can flick drivers clean, but mids and putters are a lot tougher to flick and release clean without wobble. Great video though. Thanks for taking the time to make it.
For wobble, the trick I learned with mids/putters is keeping my palm facing up on the release, and more wrist action. I found if I put too much "arm" in to it, I would get wobble.
It's a shot I feel I'm starting to get the hang of, and those were the 2 things that made a difference for me.
@@bulldawgirwin8384 Yeah, and he touched on that in talking about his follow through. A lot of people get away with a snappier forehand release, myself included, because they are throwing an OS fairway driver and hides the flaw. Then I bust out a putter or mid-ranger for a close approach and I flip the thing over.
I just thumber
hey BRODIE thanks just started disc golf with my 12 year old girl . . ..due to your videos,
by the way cheers from Helsinki Finland
love hearing that. being out in nature on the course with family is one of the best things in the world. awesome place for bonding time.

Great info. Thanks Big Jerm
Where I live, there is a disk golf course at this park not too far away, I'm experienced, but still new and working on my form and throw. I have lost a few disks because there is a lot of foliage. I throw underhand and just got some new disks for Christmas that I really want to throw. I would recommend beginners, and honestly, it's just a good disk anybody could use. My numbers are 7.4 -1.3 fairway driver Innova

I’m getting ready to start playing disc golf because Of my sister!! it looks like a sport that I can actually play and it looks so much fun!! I can’t wait to actually play a game!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Beautiful!!! Keep up the post!!!
Love the vids! I have issues with disc wobble when throwing forehand mids and putters. Any advice?
Jerm's best video IMO
"Let the disc do the work" I love it. Like in traditional golf they say" Let the club do the work" I guess in disc golf you kinda are the club. Gotta take care of your clubs!! Great advice Big Jerm!
Very helpful, Thanks!
I also am a forearm kinda guy. I liked this vid. Keep on keeping on. TY
Love how effortless he throws those forehands.
Love that you worked with Big Jerm. Now you two need to do some commentary together and it could be "Big Bro" commentary
Love the video boys. Jeremy, I'd love to know more about preventing disc wobble with forehands, especially with mid range and putters. And also, tricks to throwing hyzer angle forehands when using understable discs. Thanks heaps!
focus on the way it releases off your hand. Don’t try to just snap thru it. Take a putter outside your house and throw it super short away from you, like around 75 ft or something like that, just throw it flat and let your fingers spin the disc. Work with that until you can put pop on the disc. Honestly it’s just going slow with it and getting reps. You have to unlearn other throwing motions (from other sports.) and learn how the disc is to release off of the hand. Eventually with power the disc is poping off and ripping out of the hand but that is a disc golf throw whereas if you try to throw it hard with bad mechanics it won’t release perfectly. Slow is good for this

Working on it
I was at that course a few days ago, I’m still kinda new to disc golf but that course was sooo hard.
Love the ROC !
Great Video. Thank you
I have always struggled with Forehand. Going to use some of these tips to try and improve my flick for sure
I have worked on my forehand for the last couple years. Last year was like a breakthrough for me. I started liking and trusting my forehand for the shots I needed it on. This year I'm loving it and using it a lot more than just a get out of trouble shot. It helped me hit a 179' birdie shot on 18 at Winged Deer Park.
I also really like Big Jerm's run up after I tried it out
@@18bigegan I really need to work on it but I'm so comfortable with a backhand turnover shot
You the man Big Jerm
Could you guys do a full video on learning to move from Ultimate to disc golf? It would be great to have disc suggestions and learn how to transition Ultimate throwing techniques to disc golf.
Idk if you still need help with this, but as a beginner start with understable discs because beginners usually don't have as much power and they will fly straighter and further. Once they start turning right on you, transition from understable to more stable and overstable discs because you have enough power to get them flying straight or even turn them over a little bit. Hopefully this helps!
It's amazing how Jerm can roll his wrist over juuuuust after release. It prevents overturning your forehand shots to finish with your hand up and open, but it doesn't feel natural. Jerm is just so good and makes it look better than good!
super cool dude. so much great info thanks brodie. if you can talk to sexton about forhand and either paige shue or pierce would be cool too both have great form. also top 3 discs or best beginner discs from them would be cool
Jerm has such a nice forehand. I would say he has the best forehand in the pro scene today. maybe not in terms of distance, but the smoothness and accuracy of his forehand is so good.
Brodie, keep doing what you're doing. The content is solid. You've got the disc golf community at your back.
Idea for cross content to grow the channel and the sport;

I started to shoot forehand and i love it but learning how to backhand, and its a challange but keep up the great work Darkhorse!! Your the greatest and i hope only to get good enough to be on a card with you brother or even play a round!!!
@brodiesmith
I always come back to this video when I'm looking to fix my forehand...once again lol
Big jerm with the darkhorse beat boxing? More of that!
That slick beatbox from Big Jerm caught me offguard like whoa! Nice job.
Ok the intro was amazing
Nice video, Thanks!
Thank you Jerm
Team Big Bro? That has a ring. Amazing video, I'll be practicing these tips.
Aviar x3 is the best approach disc in the game. Goes perfectly straight but you can also shape it to do whatever you like. I throw it from the tee often.

12:15 "Innova makes the best selling mid range of all time." Shots fired!
Not really shots facts!lol I doubt Discraft is mad considering they sell the buzz which is the second best
Joseph Mastromarino I could have sworn the Buzzz 🐝 was the single best selling disc in all of DG. (Not just midranges).
@@Burps___ Discraft is an older company but when innova came out a few years later they almost Tanked Discraft because of innovation.. Discraft late 70s Innova early 80s.. The ROC mid-range was debuted by Innova in 95 the buzz was debuted by Discraft in 2003... of all time it's the ROC.. best selling now the buzz. You could make the argument that innova had 8yr Head Start
Buzzz flies much better in my opinion.
Would be great to see more details on your grip and release, other grips you may have tried before locking in your current one, etc... Great video, though!
