Its pretty cool to hear toast actually wants to go to Evo. I hope he's serious about it and sticks with it. Really good for Tekken and fighting games in general to get that kind of exposure to OTV
I watched SonicSol and Tru3Talent try and get into Tekken and comparing their mentality to toast, id say toast is serious.
Much less salt, much less frustration, much more excitement in his voice.
Asking all the right questions, thinking about strats, its crazy.
He really got the mindset.
im sure he is serious about going to evo at least. Scarra already signed up to compete this year lol
Pretty sure he’s going because he wants to get DSG (his esports org) into the FGC & pickup a pro Tekken player.
It'll be fun to watch Toast get humiliated. Trash hearthstone player, stupid annoying individual gloating about playing a couple of absolute noobies in tekken. Any player with any experience is going to wreck this trash can.
Tbh, really good for the FGC as a whole and especially amazing for Tekken. Couple that with Riot making 2XKO, the FGC is getting a ton of mainstream attention and I’m here for it.
The fact that all these huge streamers are getting into a fighting game and they are loving it is so great, so much exposure for the fgc and a show of how big of a success Tekken 8 is

Wouldn't call it a big success if steam players peaked at 46k at release and now its avg 18k on Pc, sure most are probably on Playstation, but still its kinda low numbers overall. Probably it would still be 100k+ if the game was 30€.

just recently found you, and tbh you're the reason i got captivated by tekken's mechanics as you explain them so clearly and interestingly! congrats on 50k! the 100k is not that far ahead im sure you'll hit it if you continue the grind
Toast saying "I'm 32!!!" at 6:08 in response of what a QCF was is hilarious, I'm legitimately excited to see how much better he can get to the point where he shows up at Evo. Props to you PhiDX for teaching all of these OTV members, it's been a joy to see some of my favorite creators pick up this beautiful mess of a game and really enjoy it.
He's already red ranks so he might do well :D

It's so fun watching pros teach beginners and seeing the fruits of their labor immediately after. You can just feel them come to life and having a whale of a time during those matches! Can't wait to see more from this and the other pros training their students!

I've been having a pretty rough life the last few months. I never really had the courage to just play a fighting game and let myself accept the process of growth in the game even after watching them for years.

A few years ago I found an interest for D&D so intense it eventually broke through that same anxiety and fear of failure you're describing here. It's hard, but if you can do that even once you'll be better at doing it again, and again, and it's awesome.
As a fan of tekken who is trying to get into the game properly as a steve player, AND as a Disguised Toast fan, this is perfect

Absolutely love your approach to teaching new players the game. Show them what there is to love, and let them pursue mastery if they want. I've seen other folks talk about how the first thing you need to do is research all the frame data, and that seems insane to me. Gotta fall in love first.

I loved your intro regarding allowing players to enjoy their big, brash moves first.
I watched a video that was trying to tell people to learn the proper fundamentals first, and fun stuff like combos later. Seems totally counterintuitive. Tekken should be, first and foremost, fun. And bashing your opponenta (sometimes) for a third of their health is amazingly fun, no matter what level you're at.

Congrats on the channel growth. What are you bindings for your stick? I typically just use 1-4 and r1 for heat since it lets you activate if you’re holding back
I remember watching him in hearthstone years ago. I love seeing people from my previous competitive games playing fighting games. (for me, starcraft and hearthstone mainly). Imo it all helps. Mindset among many other things. Love these videos too!

Its really nice to know you PhiDX, I only knew boxbox through different streamers but I never liked tft or league. Hes super fun to follow on tekken though. Same with you, even though I don't play it at the moment, I've been a fan of it before. All the guide talk and other subjects from you are kinda nice to pay attention to.

PhiDX, I wanna let you know this was it. This is the video that made me finally get the game after weeks of just orbiting around the scene and watching wonderful videos from the likes of you, Maximilian Dood, Sajam, etc. I think the "streamers being coached by pros" idea is such a good one because it shows the immediate feedback to audience members like me to pull the trigger and get the game just because of how FUN it looks! It's daunting still, yes, but if you're having fun, it pays off. Thanks for the awesome videos, man! ❤

When i actually enjoyed that wretched hearthstone game, dusguised toast was always up to something different and creating new ways of playing that everyone else missed first time hearing of him since i stopped playing hearthstone years ago!

havent started the video yet, but it makes sense toast would do well in fighting games considering how he plays other pvp type games. He is really good at the mind games and reading his opponents. So all he really needs is just time and experience to build the knowledge necessary to make use of his abilities to read opponents.
