Over the last couple of months I've really been worried about the guitarist6494 tech and if we'd ever see such excellence again, I began being very distant from everyone and not talking to anyone fearful of the tech drought, then in the middle of a shitty rainy week there was a glimmer of light and no it was not the sun... it was a guitarist6494 video!!! After all doubt and worry I had finally realized why it had taken so long, for I did not know it would be this good, the amount of effort put into this video made it all clear now, for it was not a tech drought but the beginning of a tech uprising FUUUUUAAAARRRRRRRRKKK!!!!!

You need to go to Scandinavia for that. I think they have just caught up with the 80's melodic riffs and they have some great bands too. Especially Sweden and Finland. I do think its a wig just to comment on one message. My favourite band of all time is Def Leppard when Steve Clarke RIP was part of them. I remember hearing the song 'Let it go' off their 'High n Dry' album and that riff has stayed with me forever. I didn't; expect to hear you play it but the open chord makes all the difference. Ratt - Lay it Down? David Lee Roth - Yankee Rose? Motley Crue - Kickstart my Heart? WTF man? You had some good ones, jesus, Lay it Down has probably one of the most recognizable opening guitar riffs of the 80's. Other than that, most of those are my choices too.

Here here!! Well said! Been playing since age of 12. The period between 1968 and 1988 in my opinion is the Titanium Age of Guitar. Some will say, what about Metallica, Stone Temple Pilots, Avenged Sevenfold? I will say they're great bands who've made great contributions but.. in my humble opinion, the musicians in that 30 year period did more to broaden how the guitar was played, learned & expressed. There were so many innovators that took advantage of the increase in electronics technology.
And these musicians didn't have the internet & CZcams to further their craft. Only magazines and other printed media, plus TV shows to help them along.

Thanks for the shout out to Loudness and Stryper. I started as a pro musician during that time period and so much of that was in our set list. Round and Round has one of the sneakiest bass lines of all time. You have to listen for it and once you hear it you can't "unhear" it. lol Loved playing it. It's so hard to categorize that stuff. Maybe we should have just called it "popular 80s metal". lol Sure there was lots of hairspray and makeup but hey chicks dug it. That was the only thing that mattered besides the music. I had hair down to my butt at one point but it sure did get the ladies attention. I had pretty hot young woman literally growl at me at a gas station and say "I hate you" then she went on to explain she couldn't grow her hair as long as mine. lol. One of the best pickup lines I ever had thrown at me. lol
