Crazy how this card game has gotten so big that even the defectives are considered important and are actually higher value than regular cards

It's not only in TCGs that misprints, miscuts or any other type of errors are valuable.
E.g. those who collect for e.g. coins (money) also highly value those coins that have some kind of error.

Hey rev, ive been in the printing business for over 30 years, ive seen it all. A miss-cut card thats different front to back happens when on the second pass through the press, the sheet likely got jammed in feeding, then ultimately made it through the press. Its called miss-registered. Usually gets thrown away. Cutter operator wont notice it if the miss registered side is facing down. Happens more often than you think lol. Cheers

That's crazy I literally pulled the Gengar Ex card back when phantom forces was released and just found it again in a Mint Condition from my old collection, I was so hyped seeing the card back from my childhood. Loved the video to regain memories❤❤

People call these miscuts but they are actually misprints. The reason the back can be off but the font is fine is because the front of uncut sheet was printed correctly but then when it was flipped over the sheet was placed in the printing press incorrectly and caused it to print the graphic off centered.
Some of these are insane, so awesome!!
Very cool vid! I love pulling miscuts and factory errors. I have a Lotad from Evolving Skies that has an obstruction error (something in the way while the printing was done). The name is otad (missing the L) and the word Basic is missing from the top left.
4:14 not only are these cut in half; but they are square corners too, wild!

Some info on how that kind of error (Light Dragonite) happens: The printer registration was correct for the front side print and cutline, but misaligned for the back print. QC must have slipped and allowed some of that sheet to go into packs. My guess is that the QC checked the front side and alignment of the cut and thought it looked fine, but never bothered to check the back. Pretty cool production error!
That explains my miscut Ninetails holo base set, mine was off-centered to the very left of the border

I work in printing, the main way that the front and back can be miscut different is if the sheets aren't 'backed up' properly in the printing process so one side is off from the other :) Happens a a fair bit at my work (not a large scale business) and I usually pick it up and it doesn't get sent to the customers haha.

If I understand correctly, the cards are produced in different parts of paper sheet and laminated (combined/bonded) later before cutting.

Happy everyone is getting excited for miscuts. I haven't pulled anything special in this area but a few miscut reverse Holos. Anything with that rarity value is always good and especially with Pokémon.

Miscuts are always interesting to see, they're always different. Best I've pulled is a sticker ditto that you can see the alignment dots on.

that light Dragonite would have come from a sheet that somehow got moved between printing the front and the back. they line it up on the front to cut it but the back ended up not being printed where it should have been. Would technically be a misprint rather than a miscut, as they did cut it correctly.
On that Light Dragonite one, I suppose it’s the reverse printing that was misaligned to the front print, rather than the cut itself being misplaced
These react videos are definitely a nice way to break from opening videos. Those are getting expensive I bet lol

I have a Genesect V alt art miscut that looks a lot like the card evas.binder pulled, it is slightly less severe from left to right but the tilt is nearly the same angle. Really wild to see two cards which were probably created almost at the same time.

I got a miscut vulpix before and it was an 1/8 white of the front but on the back was all distorted and wonky 😂

One of my favorite miscuts i got it from a trade in a convention: its a ninetails holo rare from the base set, and the back is very off-centered to the left. Its pretty lightly played but it makes a wonderful binder card, especially to show off both sides.
