At the end..."The fear left as quickly as it came. The air grew clear, the fire burned again. The flames leapt, the organ played, the swan sang to greet the day. And then we knew that love will find love." Good won.
Thanx for this..i wondered 😁
Uriah Heep belongs in the Rock and Roll hall of fame. Long overdue.
R&R H of F - pffft over-rated. supposed institution. Heep s...ts on them. They are far too good for that place. We know it :-)
What the world needs now so desperately - an impenetrable fortress of love.
' Salisbury ' a must listen by this band. Put some time aside but it's well worth it.
Thank you for reacting to Uriah Heep (U-RYE-A HEAP). Heep was one of the original "Four Pillars Of Heavy Metal" along with Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, and Led Zepplen. Many consider them the Father of Progressive Metal. Much of their music was constructed with a symphonic structure. The lead singer at this time was David Byron, the main writer and keyboardist was Ken Hensley, the drummer was Lee Kerslake, the Bassist was Gary Thain, and the sole surviving member was the guitarist Mick Box. They are still touring and recording new music 51 years after recording their first album, Others to listen to are July Morning, Lady in Black, Stealin', the list goes on and on.
so Many, Look at Yourself as well as Demons and Wizards, Salisbury, Sweet Freedom...lol it does go on and on, doesn't it?! lol back in the day they were so outside the box, I Loved them, my cousin and best friend Loved them, He has a Grandson named Uriah ! was just a walk off the path of everything else that was going on musically at the time, and we ALL Loved them, and still do
Drummer Lee Kerslake went on to play on Ozzy's first 2 albums
Very well said my friend !
I love the Heep. Grandfather of Prog is a bit of a stretch. The Beatles definitely opened the door to the amazing progression of Rock n Roll and King Crimson were formed in 1968 releasing their first album in 1969. To not acknowledge King Crimson is odd.
I'm not trying to be an asshole, although it does come naturally. I co-founded a progrock band, so I'm quite certain I'm not just making stuff up. I've been a musician since 1966.
@@mrnobody3161 You're not being an asshole, I was quoting a couple of critics (probably the closest of us to assholes) that I have read in metal oriented articles. They might have been thinking Prog-Metal, but I did imply they are considered in some peoples' opinions. I dislike labels but fall into using them as descriptors and shouldn't as the can mislead as much as lead.
Gary Thane is an incredible bass player.
One of the number of "mini operas" heep does, like " Paradise/ The Spell", and
" Salisbury ". Utilize the method of attitudinal adjustment of your choice , grab the headphones and enjoy.
Great band! Demons & Wizards..The Magicians Birthday & Sweet Freedom all huge albums here in Canada. Love Uriah Heep! 🎼🎶🎵🇨🇦
Only a minute into it and I already love it. Please more of these underplayed songs from this era.
One of the few rock songs that has someone playing a Kazoo. Mick Box played a mean guitar.
My favourite song by them is The Wizard.
YES! I feel the same.
Adventurous first Uriah Heep selection. The typical first listen is their one US top 30 "Easy Living". The 2nd choice would be "Stealin'". Very big arena band in the US between 1972-76. I saw them 5 times back then and always great drama on stage in their prime. Good won. The final vocal line is "love will find love will find love.....etc".
July Morning by UH is a MUST! They have a wide range of sounds, and July Morning contains a variety of them.
More by Heep please. 'Look at Yourself', 'July Morning'
HARRI!!! HEEEP! First band I ever saw live aged 15. Our whole family LOVED the Heep; and Magicians was on permanent rotation along with Demons and Wizards. Awesome, can't wait to see your reaction. Am ready....
Your whole family loved them! Fantastic! Your family has excellent taste!
@@utubesigninsux Which I have passed on to my daughter. Parenting success!
@@DawnSuttonfabfour Well done. Trying with my son :-)
One of my all time favourite songs right from when I first heard it in '72.
I came for the rare Uriah Heep reaction. But, Harri, dude, you're a fun guy to listen to music with!
Discovering Heep is part of a long musical journey where musical genius in certain Prog metal bands slowly reveals itself over many albums. Heep are no doubt one of the greatest rock bands …thank you !
The first album I ever bought was "Uriah Heep Live"...I was about 12...
URIAH HEEP British LEGENDS.
Demons and Wizards and The Magicians Birthday are 2 great albums
When I listen to one, I listen to the other.
rabbit hole. with their early 70ies-albums, they can be named alongside purple, sabbath and zep as heavy metal founders. important songs: july morning, look at yourself, gypsy, easy living ... and many many more. they are still going.
Yesss. Totally. I told my dad that and he looked at me precariously and laughed and said Yea I see why you say that...Uriah Heep fans are far n between. When I found out the years they composed this my mind was overloaded. They were way ahead of the idea of applying such Muse n Mystery
I'm from Saskatchewan Canada & as a farm boy I have very fond memories at age 17, listening to these guys in the 70's.
.I just started listening to them AGAIN after about 50 years. Their songs blend & morph. Incredible how the band members created sooo many albums.
They can NOT be copied & their music inspires & motivates. I crank up this album as I drive & well, they are a TRIP!
Check out "Salisbury" from the album of the same name. Epic!
Fabulous band still tour still fabulous!Live show
Love Heep!!! Love Byron era!!!
Great track!
Check out Uriah Heep live 1973 songs Sunrise and also Easy Livin !!
Great band
The goodies won. They built an impenetrable fortress of love and defeated the baddy! And Uriah Heep is a character from a Dickens novel that’s called David Copperfield.
The perfect rhythm section! Every time is fantastic!
This track is from thier Demons and Wizards album which I consider Uriah Heep's best work outside of the Sweet Freedom album. I chose this track for Harri to give him a real feel to what the band was all about. The guitarist narrating the battle was Mick Box, and I consider him in the top 5 of the greats! Harri the band got it's name from a Charles Dickens character, a miserly type like Ebenezer Scrooge. Glad you enjoyed the track, and more to come in my requests. Thanks for the reaction, and stay cool my friend.
Look at yourself as their best album
Look at yourself as their best album
This track is from the album of the same name
Tratta da the magician's birthday non demons and wizards
this extended adventurous song always kinda reminded me of Savoy Brown's similarly great extended classic "Hellbound Train".
Good won My early 70s Deep Purple,Grand Funk,Black Sabbath and URIAH HEEP! =)
I have seen this played live...
Anyway April from Deep Purple and Salisbury from Uriah Heep are two masterpieces you should listen to...
Yes to the guitar, drums & the battle . Mick does a good job with the wah & suspended tension
Good conquired Evil! you should do one for Seet Lorraine by Uriah heep
This was one of the top 70's bands, very popular in Euriope too Harri, Mick Box had some tasty licks and the keyboards always featured srongly. 'The Wizard' from their album before this was one of my faves. Always one of the best and popular live bands too. Losing Gary Thain was tragic, he was a fine bassist and David Byron a great showman who couldn't ditch the booze sadly. Drummer Lee Kerslake never got credit for song-writing later when helping Ozzy Ozbourne in his solo career with his later wife Sharon said to have been protective of royalties. An underrated talent.
not just booze, had a brown habit from which I'm sure overdosed.
Yes, but I was 13yrs old in 1973 .. and this was the best thing I'd heard ... :-)
Hard rock Kazoos!
Very observant of you on the story telling in this song. It's the age old struggle between good and evil. Been listening to the Heep since 1971 and still enjoy them as much now as then.
Very eavy very umble🎤🎤🎤
love always trumps hate.
Very observant description ! You are a music lover !
Love overcame.
A friend gave me this album back in the 1970s I don't think I've heard it since
Some good trippin' music there, back in the day.
Stealin' is another good one by them, not one of the bands I normally followed but would hear them on the radio. We had so many bands you had your choice of music and whether you wanted to get their latest album.
At the end..."Love will find..." an answer, so good vanquishes evil. If you like this, try Wishbone Ash, from the album Argus..."Time Was" or "Sometime World" or anything from that album. So epic.
Refer to the Heavy Metal Beach Boys. He wrote this from a short Story by the way Good won that's why he was in closing singing Love over and over. The Album before was the beginning of the story called Demons & Wizards both gold albums
I wore this out and the 8 track and the cassette. My CB handle/name was Rainbow Demon. My favorite song is the Wizard.
Give it a listen Harri.
Evergreen , a play of dirty corruptions
How does one get 'hip' out of 'heep'? No big deal. Uriah Hip? Odd.
Thanks for reacting to Uriah Heep though. A band that is underappreciated, but most musicians of a certain age, Love Them!
Heep, like in jeep, creep, steep, peep, sleep, keep, deep, reap...
I would recommend the song Rain from the same album, it’s a fantastic album…. Rain shows the stylistic range they were capable of in contrast to this song… great band….
🍀🍀
Rainbow Demon is also a good one.
Subbed now! :)
Heep was a major influence learning guitar back in the day - this solo was pretty much unattainable (for me, anyway). Their best album, IMHO, is "Demons and Wizards", there's a similar type themed song on there "Paradise / The Spell".
THE MAGICIANS BIRTHDAY ES UNA BATALLA ENTRE EL BIEN Y EL MAL
Love won. Evil was chased by the break of day and love, finding love.
One of my favourite bands but this wouldn't have been a good first impression for me.
Wow! First time hearing URIAH HEEP? - 🆂🆃🅾🆁🆈🆃🅴🅻🅻🅴🆁 !!!
OK not my fave but it was worth a listen. More than most things I've heard a million times anyway.
True story: I sing The Magician's Birthday to people on their birthdays. Up through the "Happy birthday to you" part anyway; I don't do the drum solo and sing the magicians' battle.
Love won
Very theatrical, I didn't care for the transitional music. Besides that the groove was great.
I am the magician
O you know who won the fight brother.
Mick Box Rocks
#Blind eye
Lady in black
I challenge you
I challenge you all
For all you own
And all you know
And by all the powers of darkness
I will steal what is mine
Surrender now or face my spite
I grant you it may be friday night
But did you know this day
Also numbers thirteen
URIAH HEEP, "MAGICIAN'S BIRTHDAY" TIME TO ROCK OUT, BABY..
Lady in black.
STEALING is awesome check it out.
Uriah Heep was a character in Charles Dickens book David Copperfield. He was a horrible person.
🤣😁..I am trying to picture your face saying " he was a horrible person"😁🤣😁
Hahaha. If you have never watched the original movie. I recommend it. Get a box of tissues!
Thank you! I was wracking my mind to remember which novel that name came from. I knew it was a Dickens character. Good to know the specifics. 🌺✌️
