SPITFIRE Made High-Tech Wheels and We DESTROYED THEM!

- We stumbled across the NEW Spitfire Sapphire Wheels and had to give them a try! These new wheels utilize a new technology that fuses a harder street formula on the inside; to a softer, cruiser-like polyurethane layer on the outside. These are some of the most advanced, high-tech skateboard wheels we've ever tested and they're pretty awesome! First we skate them normally and test them as a normal wheel and then do some of the most absurd durability tests we could think of! How do you think they'll hold up?!

you are the reason i started to skate aaron. and i now got the kickflip down, thank you:)
Sweet!
LET'S GOOOOOOOO!!
Aarons "story" on the creation of the wheels like 100% more interesting than how they actually came about lol
Hahaha
@@brailleskateboardingyo Aaron I really want to meet you! But I live in Hamburg Pennsylvania!
@@ethanroxie3980u do realize he’s in the complete other side of the USA right?? Lol
@@SaVaGe-187 yeah I know
Who was so lazy they had to roll in a chair to wax the funbox ledge???
In my head it makes sense for someone who wants to ride soft wheels and do tricks on them so that when they land the hard part around the bearing doesnt compress and lock them up slowing you down
Let's get it, boyos! Love these videos and especially love it when you collab with people like the bladers, Xpogo guys and BMX dudes!
Dual Duro tech is from Downhill skateboarding, Sector 9 made dual duro downhill wheels back in 2012. Allowed for fast roll speeds while also providing the grip of a softer duro wheel
Spitfire had a similar wheel called the Tracers in the 2000's which had an inner core of 101a and an outer core of 99a.
I remember Tracers, man!! Such innovation. That was around the time of Lib Technologies!
As well as the spitfire hardcores in like 2010 ish something like that.
rofl! "Faster!" 😂I always enjoy your methods of testing products. The 3d printed board vs the car was another well played moment. Thank you guys. 👍
I just got my braille skateboard today as my first skateboard and I drove out to a skatepark to try to learn. I have a long way to go but watching your vids motivates me to get up every time.
That is awesome! You got this
This kind of videos is one of the best 🔥🔝
Im a Spitfire guy , but the Dragons are awesome for these old bones . I want to try Andy Anderson's new wheels when they drop.
Same exact formula just different shape
Thanks for doing all of these wheel tests. I was thinking about buying a 2nd set of dragons for my 2nd setup. I love the dragons. I think they reduce some of the impact for these old joints with the softness. But then I saw that Andy Anderson just came out with his custom wheel. Now I don't know if I want to try that or get another set of dragons. Please get Andy's new wheel and test it for me ASAP!
According to powell they do use dragon formula with andy anderson wheels. Still would be cool to see the wheels in action. So try andy anderson wheels. See what the minor differences. Either way its the dragon formula.
@MarioGodoyMusic got a response from Braille about them below. Likely can expect to see them in action soon!
I second this. I also second @countdiefaster when he speaks of tests like that. Great idea.
I've personally found that shock pads (in place of risers) actually do better. I had super soft wheels, maybe 80A, and the bouncing of the soft wheels from drops actually hurt my ankles worse.
Have a set of the nano cubics, my biggest complaint about them, is you can't just pull your wheels off and slap those on. Because they are fully side set, they effectively increase your axle width. So in order for them to feel normal, you need to downsize trucks, or upsize your board. I prefer my trucks just smaller than rail matched, and swapping to those made them stick out way too far for my liking.
try the bones formula x. it’s the same concept and personally i have them on a separate setup for transition and hill bombs, although i occasionally skate street with it as well, but i absolutely love them they slide beautifully but ride sooo smooth
they did 7 months ago
Great video as always... Are you considering testing the new Bones X97? According to some skaters I know they are similar to the Dragon Wheels but without the cruiser feel... I am currently riding the Dragons and love them, much love from Austria
i just got skateboarding lesson from my local skate shop today you guys really have inspired me
is Skateboarding Easy?? Did you Learn How to Do Any Tricks yet??
"Braille made an awesome skateboarding channel, and we DESTROYED it!"
I believe 90A is medium softness territory, so you might have to break them in first to slide nice. Like for soft-soft wheels (87A and under), you definitely need to break the skin off those soft-soft wheels first in order to feel better in a slide.
I believe the sapphires weren’t meant to compete or try to do what the dragon wheels do but instead make a soft wheel that is more durable (close or same durability as a normal f4 spitfire 99a or 101) since if you skate soft wheels off large gaps they can actually break and I think that’s what the sapphires are meant to do which is to be a soft wheel that won’t break when skating
That's what it sounds like. Give the wheel a bit more stiffness while still riding like a soft wheel.
We’ll. Know the chargers will break on a hot day. I’m hesitant to try these, the bones atf formula works great
I blew out every spitfire core I skated, wasn’t a fan of them when I was actively skating, but I had a few buddies that swore on everything, they were the smoothest wheel out there
My brother just bought a skateboard for the first time since 1993. He chose those wheels, in green.
Maybe it's just me, but those Spitfire's sounded way quieter when you dropped the boards and were riding around.
nice one spitfire. those wheels look super cool.
I ended up getting the Bones X97 wheels based off of several reviews i read/watched, im still not quite sold on the dragons but think its a great idea, i like the X97 wheels so far, not that ive done a whole lot of skating on them, but frolm what i have i pleased.
Try the new Andy Anderson wheel that just hit ....currently got bones formula x and enjoying them
X Formula's are awesome! all ive been riding for almost 8 months
I love your videos man
You have to use same sort of deck, tape, trucks, rubbers and bearings too compare wheels properly. Awesome clips fella's
Good idea!
Those are dope I had some Tom penny flip clear purple gel wheels with the mushroom logo inside back in the 2000s those remind me of them
Science coming up on this channel makes me very happy. Whether it be phenomena or the scientific process, makes me happy.
Same
19:54 me as a kid with washed out bearings at the park 😂
Y'all are f'n crazy as heck😂 much respect.
Get to de chopper 😂
@RealBrailleSkateboarding....is this real?
11:13 yepp I have the slix ricta's on my board, they have those already
you HAVE to try de Andy Anderson Nano Cubic wheels
spitfire is coming with 93a slidable wheels in april. dlx calls it soft slider at loud and they call it dragon slayer when they are alone. this is the rumor. you may wanna check that.
you know this is random
but have yall ever done slow motion on the wheels during a flip trick?
like a pressure flip?
might be some interesting scientific results if you do soft vs hard wheels but get real up in there with the slow motion camera and see if there is actually a difference
I want to see your honest opinion on the O.J. wheels I am skating them right now, and I personally love them
Ha lol 😂 the pizza board in the backround
Hear me out... 28 ply skateboard with bigger springs on the bottom than the last time y’all did the spring board🔥🔥
Ricta once did some harder inner edge wheels for the reasons Gabe mentioned.
I was thinking about a wheel I can commute to class on the rough Reno sidewalks but still can do tricks no problem
Hmmm🤔
Would love to see a review on Ojs double duros if you guys are down
I wish i dropped in more when i was skating. I rarely got a chance though lived 15+ miles from nearest park.
I lm really digging the bones x97 53mm
One time I saw you guys saying you wanted to replicate that Marty McFly climbing over the moving vehicle before he got crushed and coming out the other side trick and hopping on his board trick from Back to the Future. Did y'all ever do that anywhere? Did I just miss that video? Where's it at?
They should make sum wheels like these but reversed have the harder material on the outside of the wheel where the wheel touches the ground and softer on the inside ⚡️
I have no idea i'm gonna have to try both of them and put them heads up like you guys did
Did you find an answer to which you think is better? Sapphire or Dragons? I’m debating on which set to get now.
@@CloakedReaperGames I prefer the dragons
@@JoeKyser Is there a particular reason why or just preference?
@CloakedReaperGames I like how they felt a lot better. They felt more versatile. I feel like maybe in certain situations I would go with the spitfire. I am a fan of the soft spitfires if I am going to go softer than that
The best video!
I love that they're translucent. I like that.
Those look amazing
Aaron, nobody can ever say youre not a “science” man 😉😉
Truth
Always been a big fan of Spitfire I think I still got about three or four sets in the closet from years gone by
Try OJ Elite wheels next please or OJ Nomads
Are you going to Try the nano cubic ?
Just today I commented on a Powell ig post showing their new wheel with Andy Anderson saying Braille needs to test these. I get home from work and see this video was pumped them it's a different wheel. You guys gonna try their new wheels.
Yes we will, idea is to have Andy come up for that video, working on making the schedules align
I love the Bones X97's and have some new X99's in the mail that I hope are the magic money wheel for the park, X99's need to be your next test
Please try the OJ’s Double Duros! It’s the opposite. 101a on the outside, 95a inside. They look sick! Can’t get my hands on any for a while in France 😞
Why can’t you get any in France?
Can’t find them yet, and they’ll be twice the price.
Yo, when Aaron said for the Barbie movie I lost my shizs. 😂
0:55 funniest joke I've heard in a month
just starting to ollie today
I suspect theyre harder on outside and softer on the inside 👍 hard feel but still some cloudy ride feel
I just need to be able to do reverts on transitions. Like alley oop reverts into grinds and if wheels don’t have decent slide those tricks don’t work.
6:31 😂 this dude never has energy for y’all !! He just shows up for a paycheck hahaha
Glo applying wax while moving in a computer chair behind Aaron😂
I prefer my BlackSheep wheels and deck. Brazilian made, Brazilian ridden 🤘
Love seeing the red gnarly griptape hiding in the background constantly
Urethane, Urethane, Urethane, Urethane. 🤣👏
Man that was a mission to get a flat spot
Haha
I feel like these are meant to be a test wheel. A reverse to the OJ double duro wheels. Which are 101 on the outside and 95 on the inside. Maybe we can get a test on those next?!?
What’s with the black fence outside
Always wondered, what's in the rest of the warehouse, that now has a giant fence around it?
Gotta check out Andy's new Powell wheel. Made with a harder dragon formula
we definitely need to
Powell and Andy Anderson Dragon Nano Cubics
;)
As I understand things, the Dragon Formula isn't a cored wheel, meaning that the Spitfires will wear through the soft layer into the hard layer which will change the feel over time. The Dragons should (and in my case did) perform the same throughout the life of the wheel. I used to use Spitfire 101a but when street skating the Dragon formula and Bones Formula X are the way to go IMO.
i am so curius about dragons. in my country, i couldn't find. i want to use dragons but i must be honest, it looks like the core of these saphires are way too inside. if you wear it down to the 101a part, it means it wore down to 35mm lol
@@mehmetfratozgun6858 I've used both the Dragons and Formula X (same formula, different durometer), and if you're going to skate street I think the Dragons are the best option, if you're more into park skating then the Formula X is the way to go.
@@Suicidal_Ideations uhhhhhh ... no 😅 Bearings don't stretch homie. I mean, all metal will expand and shrink with hot and cold temperatures respectively, but they're made from steel, any expansion/shrinkage has nothing to do with the wheel. There are cases where a wheel is soft enough that the bearings don't seat properly and can come loose but that doesn't really effect anything as the wheel nut keeps everything together anyways.
Should also be noted that at 93a for Dragons and 97a for Formula X, they're no where near too soft. Uncored 8Xa wheels have been a thing since the 70s when they started using urethane, and today there are plenty of uncored wheels that use 87a duro with no issues whatsoever. Dragons ride like an 93a but slide like a 97a, Formula X ride like a traditional 97a but slide like a 101a. I've had 2 sets of each at this point and swapped Spitfire 101a's, as well as Bones STF and ATF to compare them all, and honestly they're a game changer for a lot of people.
the best slide wheels for fast downhill are like 75-78 a soft :O) you can slide on anything
Nanocubics next?! Btw you can slide softer wheels it just chatters more
Those remind me of the old Jelly Rolls from the 90s.
Ah yes, another banger from world renowned science man Aaron Kyro
Awesome now I can buy a pack of wheels on Christmas and tell my girlfriend I got her 4 sapphire rings. WIN WIN 🥇 😂
Test Andy Anderson's new wheels next.
Snot wheels x rays are graphic inside clear, they are sick looking. Also does Andy know you don't ride force wheels 😂😅
The sapphires are basically harder cruiser wheels, not really made for sliding and trcks.
Ricta slix have a harder portion on the inside of the wheel for locking into grinds
I don't know why but these wheels look so delicious xd
17:25 lol
This give an idea what about if you put freeskates wheels on a regular skate, you know they are bigger and roundly
Awesome
Autobahn wheels have been doing a dual durometer wheel forever they’re called the dual duros I believe
It took me three or four sessions but once I broke in my dragons I love them
how did yall get planes into wheels
Im trying to watch the video but I cant get over that dumbell in the middle if the floor
I was just curious. Do you guys know if Chirs is going to come back to Braille?
We dont know yet
Faster! Faster! MY ARMS ARE BLEEDING-Aaron Kyro
I like Spitfires on wood parks dragons for concrete parks and street ricta clouds for cruiser
So are they more or less than 1.21 jigawatts???
Aaron remember me you always replied to my comments!🎉
These remind me of the Ricta Crystal Cores.
I'm gonna make some "Crystal" Pepsi wheels. 😂
Love a camera that’s set to “auto”
bro destroys everything possible
just try to go faster outside, like running speed plus, they will probably feel better to slide on than harder wheels.
Were you at Orbit Skate Shop
I think the dragons have a hard outside hard inside with bearings and soft middle.
Now to test out Andy Anderson new wheels..
so real
