Great to finally hear a comparison between the 97A and 93A Spitfires! I don’t really care about the labelling of how hard these wheels supposedly are. I don’t think there is an actual standard in the industry. Especially considering the Shore A scale wasn’t apparently designed for the materials or hardnesses of skateboard wheels. I’ve ridden too many wheels of different duros and brands to feel like there is a standard. Had 82A Kryptonics wheels that felt way harder than 87A OJ wheels. 99A Spitfire wheels that felt harder than 99A Bones wheels. 95A OJ wheels that feel slightly harder than the 93A Spitfires but considerably harder than the 93A Dragons. Heck I don’t feel like there is a suuuper difference between the 87A OJs and the Dragons in terms of hardness. There is no standard. Everyone seems to be winging it. At least the 93s is the softest of the four hard Spitfire hardnesses. So far so good.
great explanation !!! totally agree I had some slime balls that were supposedly 95a (before dragons and all these wheels were around) and they FELT LIKE a 101a by spitfires standards they were super hard so can’t go by what duro the company claims it is. have to go by FEEL and these wheels honestly feel really good to me - hard enough to not lose speed at the skatepark (like dragons do) and soft enough to cut through rough stuff noticeably better than x97s do. so to me its best of both worlds
@@likeSK8 yeah I feel you. This is my go to wheel although I do like all three. I can’t see myself going with 99A or 101A wheels ever again unless in really pristine conditions.

I have been skating the dragons since they came out and I just got the soft sliders. To me the spitfire feel more like a 95 a. Which that’s what I’ve been wanting. Both are great wheels but are definitely different despite having the same Duro.
I get flats spots realy easily on smooth ground with the Spitfire 93s doing power slides. They make no sound also on reverts and slides with bearing spacers but make screech with out. I think the 93 are overpriced they are a very nice wheel to ride but I think Spitfire were just in a jam to knock a wheel out to compete against the dragon as the performance is very good .this review is spoy on
they are not THE BEST park wheel by any means but I like them on smooth ground - where they SHINE is on the asphalt - BUT flat spots are never cool. 👎🏼 I don’t do power slides well so I haven’t had this issue. if you have genuine flat spots, I would contact deluxe (the parent company) - they will REPLACE them
I’ve been riding SEA RAT captain walker shovel 8.75 for several months now 8.75 in the middle 8.5 over the trucks, shovel type nose square tail 14 inch wheel base. I recently set up the second one in a row. my favorite shape Ive ever skated so far 🔥🤙🏼🛹
Really? I only heard they are grippier, but not softer than advertised. Spits do generally feel harder though, that's true. Mini logo wheels are definitely softer than indicated

Better than X97 on rough? Not for $4 more and if they are really "better" than X97 on rough, I doubt by much because they arent better than Dragons on rough says all. The only good thing is you tested them vs the SFF4 97A you had and they are softer, so DLX basically toned down their F4 to the lowest duro and just call it 93A to cut into the Dragon market is all. Are they really a 93A wheel? Probably not when you compare them to Dragons 93A, so they are most likely a 95A 96A or 97A, regardless they are most comparable to the X97 which is still $4 cheaper for the same type of hybrid wheel, save yourself some money and go with the X97, basically the same thing for cheaper and rather spend the money on SFF4 99A which again is $4 cheaper and what I ride exclusively for smooth skate parks, and many other "street skaters" use the SFF4 99A because it's their best duro for maximum speed, ledge rail and tech tricks so why pay $4 more??? If they drop the price more people might actually consider trying them.. for me I'll stick to SFF4 99A for park and Dragons for hill bombing, pump track and rough streets.
I encourage you to test the soft sliders and x97s at the same rough spots for yourself - and see if they feel the same. let me know what you think 🤙🏼 personally there is a noticeable improvement when riding the soft sliders through rough but feel great on park too - so I don’t need a set for rough and a set for park my thoughts are - this one might be $4 more but is the ONLY set I need buying TWO set of wheels is way more expensive than ONE set that is $4 extra 🤷🏻♂️
@@likeSK8X97 does the exact same thing but $4 cheaper, slides better, is louder more durable and might be a bit faster on smooth surfaces if it is in fact a bit harder than SFF4 93A or if it is the other way around that X97 is a bit softer than SFF4 93A then it will ride a bit more comfortable on rough than SFF4 93A, which I have heard is the case with many other YTers who have reviewed both wheels and is evident in their videos. CONCLUSION: X97 wins for a similar wheel because it's $4 cheaper and better in other various aspects between 2 comparable wheels and fact is Spitfire is 1.5+ years late to this hybrid wheel game of softer wheels that slide and won't be taking that market by storm especially at charging $4 more for not a better product.

I like powell and bones wheels A LOT as well. 😁 they may come up with a 95a x formula - and I’ll probably love that! cause like I mention in the review - I think the x formulas are a bit more durable that the spits soft sliders so far my only point was - you said you’ll stick to using dragons on rough spots AND x97 for now. that arrangement of using two wheels costs about $82-85 before taxes / compared to buying ONE set of wheels that does BOTH park and crust extremely well for $45 ish AND I never have to change set up or wheels 🤷🏻♂️ that being said - I totally agree that I don’t like they call it a 93a (I mention this my review) 🤙🏼 and I also agree that they should be at the same price point to be more fair to consumers 👍🏼😎 thanks for your thoughts - I love talking about this kinda stuff ! 🙂 going to do some shoe reviews soon which ones do you skate ?
