    The trekking pole tent industry is really stepping up the game! I went with the River Country Trekker 1 because I am short (5'8") and a tight wad.

    It would be a fairer comparison if you had compared this with the Lanshan 1 Pro, and not the Lanshan 1. The Pro is made of better materials, has more internal space, is lighter weight (690g), and is a single-skin hybrid (like the GG One).
    Your point about footprint size is well made. I've used my Lanshan 1 Pro over this season in preference to my Luxe Hexpeak V4A and the smaller footprint certainly extends your pitching options.
    I do like the two-pole internal space configuration with your GG One - must admit I'm tempted! The Lanshan 1 Pro exceeded my expectations when it came to handling bad weather, and I'll be interested to see how this One performs!

    Love Gossamer Gear, own a G4-20 pack which is perfect for winter wild camp trips. Chose the Zpacks Altaplex over 'The One' due to being 6'2, gives a little more head room.

  • @FuttFel
    @FuttFel Před 2 lety +5

    Oh snap. Nice choice, I have this one and I love it! I wouldn't take it anywhere with heavy, heavy winds, but for just about anything else it's an awesome shelter. You might want to consider a polycro groundsheet for it, the floor is pretty thin. One groundsheet adds about an ounce and they're remarkably durable. I've used one of mine on various types of surfaces with zero issues. Sadly, it blew away on my last trip. Thankfully, they come as a pack of two!

    • @OutdoorDaze
      @OutdoorDaze  Před 2 lety +5

      Cheers mate. In tomorrow’s video I get caught in gale force winds 😂

    • @FuttFel
      @FuttFel Před 2 lety

      @@OutdoorDaze Oh, damn. :P Well, I hope the shelter survives without damage. I had mine set up in a very windy area with no way of attaching anything to the points on the head and feet ends, so the foot end acted as a big wind scoop. The wall bowed into the tent quite a bit and flapped about all night and all day. Didn't get any sleep at all. Right after we'd packed up, a heavy rainstorm came and the gusts that came with it would have for sure ripped the wall open. I was lucky that time, this was in an alpine environment above the tree line in Sweden. Next time, I'll be taking my Hilleberg instead. With that said, my 'One' survived without any damage, which I'm thankful for.

    I have the old model (no tension points on both sides, unfortunately) and I'm very happy with it too. Very roomy for such a light weight. Super easy and quick to set up. Also, the vestibule is the perfect size to store your backpack and shoes. There is condensation in it if the conditions favour condensation, like all tents. Only downsides IMO: sagging when wet and price point.

      @danielkutcher5704 Před 2 lety +1

      Fog condenses on everything. Nothing can be done about it unless you can start a small fire to dry your shelter, which is not recommended with silnylon, as it is highly flammable. Using a wood stove with a chimney is effective, but hardly ultralight.

      Nylon: We choose to make most of our shelters, and our packs, from a thin woven nylon fabric. Nylon is exceptionally strong for its weight and price, resistant to abrasion and chemicals, long-lasting, compressible, and easy to wash. The downside in certain situations is that it is relatively elastic, meaning that it will have a minimal "sag" when saturated with water
