Been looking at all sorts of solutions to building my own plunge tank from freezers to tin baths. Now sold on the IBC, building will commence this weekend. Thanks for a great build video 👊🏻.
Good idea.IBCs are cheap and very durable. Can add insulation, a lid, and a chiller if one lives in a hot environment.
Yessss
@@MikeHindMBE been using it since then Mike and absolutely love it! Thanks again for giving me the inspiration to build it 👍🏼
YESSSSSSSS
Add a filter and Ozone generator and a chiller to make this a damn proffesional build
This was a class video mate, was looking at IBC tanks and this looks like the way to go
Let me know how it goes pal
Awesome video thanks mate! Looks fantastic this is how ill do mine!
Let me know how you get on bud
Excellent 👏🏼
Thanks Stu.
I would never have thought of using one of those IBC containers. Brilliant idea. I think I might put some sort of foam insulation between that and the cladding, but like I said a brilliant idea, and thanks for the inspiration.
great shout...25mm kingspan would work real well
Belting stuff! 100% gonna recreate this badboy in my back garden.
Did you do it pal?
This is epic !!
Thank You...
Great job 👏 xx
Thank you 🤗
nice work, i can't expect to do the same in home. thx
You can do it!
Been thinking about making one of theses too, using the same thing 👍
let me know how it goes mate
I would have put filter inlet at bottom and outlet as fountain option. You could also pipe in a chiller on the same lines.
Very nice, I am thinking about copy and improve by adding a small filter pump....plus a putting a cover on top of it 😊
I did put a cover on too mate made it from the decking boards and looked nice… a filter would be a great shout… could use a lazy spa filter x
What a ingenious idea 💡 👌 it’s excellent for muscle recovery and inflammation the ice water is that right.
Thanks buddy
Only thing I would do different is spray foam in between the tote and panels, Everything else looks great.
Great idea brother
Looks awesome!! Thanks for the post!! I would say you can add a water chiller to that to make the most perfect setup without the need to add ice. Regardless this is one of the nicest setups I’ve seen so far!
Great idea!
ive looked up water chillers and they are insanely expensive. like £2-3k ?
@@wilkinsonyachtbrokerUK you can find used ones here and their. I got lucky and found a ecoplus 1.5hp for $600 new regular $2000 plus. But I’ve saw a lot of .5-1hp used ones for under $500
Hey dude
Just found you from this video. It’s very clear how detailed to attention, your work is art mate. Bravo.
I’ve just started my conversion on my other account too. You’ve given me some awesome ideas I hadn’t yet thought of, so this video was a banger!
I used to be in the fitness industry myself. If you ever fancy a beer and some banter, I do a podcast on this account. Would love to sit down with you and talk ice baths, industry, mindset of a coach etc. I’d be really keen to get to know you a little more #nohomo
Let me know. Until then, epic video mate. I’m on the YT grind myself, so can spot great content when I see it! You’ve got a natural talent here👊
All the best pal
lets get that sorted brother
Love your projects. I just picked one up for $70 Canadian on FB Marketplace and plan to build my cladding from old fence boards and pressure treated 2x4 beams to really keep the cost down.. The guy who sold it to me was using it for the last 5 years to collect rainwater from his gutter to feed his vegitable garden. When I got home, I noticed a very faint sticker on the side denoting that it once contained BASF Gardoclean s 5192. I am wondering if anyone out there knows IF after 5 years of containing water and a very good cleaning / bleaching by me, would this be dangerous to use as an Ice Bath. Or am I pretty much in the clear buy now?
Update: I built it. Cleaned it with power washer and bleach. Used Old Fence boards. Looks fantastic. My kids use it continuously. Weather is below 0-c now and my family uses it even more. Great project. Thank You for edging me forward with your ideas. Would post a photo or video here if there was a way.
I was about to settle on either a chest freezer and having to coat the inside or use that 400qt Grizzly cooler but this will save me a bunch of money (I can get these totes brand new and free) and I can afford to buy a chiller, pump and filtration units. Only thing I plan to do different/add is styrofoam board before siding for insulation and I plan to use Trexs board around the top where exposure to the water will be a factor. Thanks for the video!
I have a non insulated cold plunge outside and the water is gaining so much temperature.
Adding insulation like you said plus a water chiller with water filter and UV-C or an ozone generator and its an awesome setup with the IBC. I was looking at a 100 gallon rubermaid but they're approaching £800! The IBC method is brilliant for cost
Great idea there buddy... let me know how the build goes
Awesome tub looks really high end well done. I have a water butt convert only issue for me is keeping the water clean (ish) without charging it every use. Any ideas?
pool filter and a chlorine tablets like for small pools
great shout
This is such a great idea and fantastic design. How has the IBC container held up 10 months later? And is it a pain to fill and empty, given how big it is. Thanks
Good question! it is still perfect... i just stick the hose pipe in and set the timer to stop it
Brother, that is an awesome build, and I absolutely love the way you did it. I will certainly be duplicating it in my build her in South Africa.. What did you use for the cladding though? Is it a pvc type sheet?
Thank you sir... yeah it was a pvc soffit board.. let me know how yours goes
Hi. Great video, thanks. just one question though, at the start of the video 25 seconds, you attach the framework to the steel frame. How did you attach the wooden frame to the steel frame? Thanks
Hi mate, merry Christmas, I drilled a pilot hole through the frame and then from the inside into the wooden rail. x
how do you keep your water clean and cold ? looks great
Tbh mate I change the water, there are chemicals you can use, but there a drainage tap that allows a hoes to be pushed on and emptied in 30 mins
Hi Mike, cheers for the great video! Is this ice bath still going strong? I have a couple of questions on the build if you have a sec.
First possibly a silly question, but why did you cut the metal frame (at 0.39) could you not have built your wooden frame up to this height and then the plastic tub would be a bit recessed, as you add wood inside the frame too (at 3.40).
Secondly, what did you end up using to keep the water clean?
Thanks!
Hey budd... i cut it because 1. it would have been too high, and 2. because i wanted a flat top... lastly the plastic inner starts to curve just above this point so this way allowed me to have everything flust and seated right.
I changed the water tbh, although someone did comment on here on a great way to keep the water clean with a filter and pump.
Good luck with yours and let me know how you decide to go with the height ect x
Great video ..im gonna do this now ..how long can the water be left in before emptying and refilling ? Domt want stagnation..any advice
I changed it out weekly mate
Hi Mike - very inspiring ! I miss a bit how you are making the 4 corner coverings for the soffit board? I don’t think that material is on the list? I’m going to get started! How did you install the light and thermometer? Do you get those from a pool supply store? Thanks !!
sorry bud, i should have mentioned that, its just a length of 40mm x 40mm corner trim, its matching the colour of the soffit board and comes in a 5m length so 1 strip does the lot. the lights and thermometer are just amazon specials mate less than £20 for the lot
@@MikeHindMBE thanks for the speedy reply Mike.. i think i might even get my IBC containers for free from someone that wants to get rid of 3!
Class is it pcv wood on the sides
Yeah it is mate
Where do I find info on keeping the water clean and sanitary?
Looks amazing, do you have tips on how one would do a slightly larger wood cover in order to add insulation foam or sheets between the wood and the bath ?
you could add 25mm kingspan with this build mate
@@MikeHindMBE do you glue it on all the surfaces or maybe screw it on the metal bars ?
@@captainnoyaux yeah I piloted a hole through the bars into the timber
@@MikeHindMBE cool thanks a lot !
This is really awesome. Defiantly going to try and make my own. Is the black cladding you used on the exterior easily found?
It’s called “soffit board” I got it from MB Cladding x
@@MikeHindMBE Absolute legend, thank you :)
@@edwardcorbett4020 no problem bro, let me know how it goes
Did you make it bro?
@@MikeHindMBE I did. Used pallet wood for the cladding and turned out really well. Gets plenty of use. Thanks again :)
Great build. Where did ya get the cladding
www.mbdiy.co.uk/ i got it from here mate
You will spend a small fortune in ice keeping something that size cold. The IBC is a great solution, but use an aquatic chiller.
We are lucky that we have a ice machine in the gym so we make our own and fill a freezer with it
Im thinking of building this. For a experienced carpenter how many hours do you need to build this?
I’m a joiner myself mate, its a days work x
Any idea where to get a container delivered ? Can’t fit that in my boot 😅
lol....
How did you make the door for the water spout?
i just cut it out with a multi tool and double sided taped (and silicone) some 2x1 to the backof the cut out
How do you keep the water cold?
We have a ice machine and put ice blocks in
Great video, very helpful - but the music was painful.
Noted Mate... x
@@MikeHindMBE Solid!
A chest freezer might be easier 👍
True!
Great idea 👍
Would love to interview you Mike for my channel please? I have over 8,000 following and could get many of my subs to follow you also.
Kindest regards
Jamie Boyle
100% mate let’s do it.. your welcome to come over to mine and we could do it x
@@MikeHindMBE ah fabulous, can you please send me your number on Facebook please
Just buy a chest freezer, way easier. You're going to get tired of adding ice everyday.
Good idea too
You forgot to actually walk and talk through what you were actually doing
shall i make it again?
@bb9135 well that’s easy mate he just built a slide for the kids so they can swim in it yesterday
@@MikeHindMBE he means you didn’t show the wiring for the water cooling system
