- Four years ago when I became a mum for the first time, I dreaded tummy time because my darling daughter absolutely hated tummy time. As an paediatic occupational therapist I knew there are 5 tummy time positions that I could do with my daughter. These alternative tummy time positions were literally life savers. So in this video we are going to cover all 5 tummy time positions, which will make tummy time easier for you and your little one.

Thank you for the info. But it would be greater if you instruct newbie moms how to shift from the cradling position to those tummy time positions. I am still kinda clumsy on how to hold the baby.
😊😊😊😊
Thanku so much! My daughter is 5 months old on the 10th and I have done the best I can with tummy time but she HATED it. She would start screaming and crying. I was told to put her on her tummy on the floor and thats it. I just put her on my nursing pillow and she is happy!! I could literally cry I've been so disappointed in myself for not being able to find a way for her to enjoy tummy time. Thanku thanku thanku
Hi @kelsey Marie I am so glad you found a tummy time position she likes. Sounds like a very hard 5 months with tummy time. Hopefully it just keeps getting better now as she gets stronger and more confident in this position.
My 1st baby is now 2 months old, and i am a first time mother and this will be the first time that i will try this tummy time method to him. Thank you!
Finding your channel was a god send!! New and first time mum of a 7 week old baby!! You explain everything so clearly
Glad it was helpful!
Another great video Emma.
I love that you acknowledge that some babies don’t like the traditional tummy time and that there are other options to try.
this is literally lifesaving, my ob and pediatrician never said ANY OF THIS
Thank you very much! We have a 2 month old baby who is having difficulty lifting his head and strengthening his muscles. In a few weeks we will go back to the doctor to see how he is and these 5 positions were very useful!
Wow I wish this video was available 6 months ago! My baby hated tummy time. Now I know for the next one. Thank you!
Hopefully the your next little one finds tummy time a bit easier!
Great videos as usual Emma. These tips are different from the first video. I love it. Thanks
My son is 17 weeks old and he has a flat head. My pediatrician said i need more tummy time but he hates it. Do still do these exercises or something else. I appreciate your video ❤️❤️
Thank you Emma, my 2 week old new born is now doing pushups
Am I the only parent that does tummy time with the kiddies on an actual bed? 😩
amazing video, so well organized and straight to use information, life saver ♥️
Thank you so much! Glad it helped 😊
Thanks for the helpful video! I have a 6 week old and his favorite tummy time position is on my chest. Is it ok to just continually do one position for this or do different positions strengthen different neck and back muscles?
Made the one change in position and saw immediate results!
Thanks so much! Our 7 week old does great on the exercise ball, and for some reason it also makes him go number 2
Lol - good info - he may appreciate knowing this when he’s older too! 😉
Great positions, especially the last one! Thanks for sharing it with us!
It’s my pleaure
Until what age do babies need to do tummy time? Can you please do a video on W sitting and why is it bad as well as alternatives? Thanks!!
Thanks !
Thank you
Hi mam, you are just inspiring. Just guide to improve the production of mother feed if less amount of quantity is available which is not enough for baby. shall be grateful
Love this! THANK YOU!!!
You are so welcome!
It was very helpful. Thank you
So glad!
Great video!
Is there anything we should do diffrently for tummy time with babies who have umbilical hernias?
I was instructed not to let her sleep on her tummy because fo this, but is tummy time okay because it is for a shorter while?
Great tips!!!
PS--- that baby with the blue onesie/pacifier is fricken adorable!
My baby girl hated it too but your tips have helped me so much ❤️
Thank you so much dear ...... your videos are very helpful for us❤
Glad to hear that
This is very helpful. I had been putting my baby straight onto a blanket as I didn’t realise we should start of slowly.
I did some tummy time in chest this morning using the hand positions you mentioned and he is able to lift his head and turn it side to side so I am very happy.
That is so good! Keep going slowly and tummy time will be more pleasant for you both!
Hi Emma, how can I encourage my 5 1/2 month old to do tummy time? He seems to hate it so much, he rolls over within a minute or 2
These are great tummy time positions, I wished I knew these positions when my baby was a newborn and a little older. He is now 9 1/2 months old but I can still use some of the tips you’ve mentioned to help strengthen his neck because his rolling needs help and he isn’t crawling.
so glad these can tips can still help your little one!
Stay positive and keep on trying... I know how energy-consuming worrying is
Hi ma’am, i have been following your videos. I am from India. I am a mum of 6months old boy. He was born with reflux issue so we couldnt do much of tummy time with him as he would vomit instantly. Hence his neck & shoulders muscles are not that strong yet & he is unable to hold his neck steady, also unable to lift himself up to sit.
Please guide what can we do to accelerate his muscle strength.
I've tried 4 tips except with gymball, but i've noticed from clinic and my mom, that the baby don't do tummy until her milestone
Hi Emma, thank you for the 5 things we should know about tummy time and this positions video. It is super helpful. My little one 3.5 mos does not like to put weight on her arms at all! She cries when I support her elbows under the shoulder, and mostly falls into “swimming in the air” position! How can we tackle this?
Did you figure this out?
Ive just had my first baby. She is 5 days old, we were told yo chuck her straight onto her stomach and she would scream and cry, we thought that was what was suppose to happen. But will definitely try these
Congratulations on the arrival of your little one. I hope these positions help!
Awesome video! And what about the laid back breastfeeding position? My daughter lifts her head and uses her hands a lot in the position as well haha
Great suggestion!
Im really struggling to fit an hour of tummy time in a day. My boy is 4 months old, he cries after about 5 minutes of tummy time but has a strong neck and core. I always mean to di several sessions a day but hes either just been fed, sleepy and tired or asleep! Think he has about 5 hours of naps in the day time. How long after feeding do you need to leave before timmy time? Im really struggling as a new mum and feel like im getting it all wrong 💕
Emma help! My baby just recently turned 3 months and we have been doing tummy time as much as we can.lately he spreads his arms out during tummy time instead of close to his body which makes his face flat on the ground. I did see him trying to move his whole body forward as if he is crawling.is this normal? He has good neck control when he’s up.
My daughter is 5months 11 Days old..she doesn't turn back on her own and she hates to lie down on her tummy...pls suggest what to do
Mam can u help me.....my baby fears a lot .....of sound from every thing...he is 6month old.....plz help🙏
My baby is almost 7 months old, doesn't like tummy time so I didn't really push it, she can roll over both ways but just doesn't do it because she doesn't like being on her tummy, what could be the reason she doesn like it?
How long should babies have tummy time for?
I’d love to know how to wake up your newborn (and KEEP them awake) for long enough to do something like tummy time!! Hell, we find it hard enough keeping him awake long enough for a full feed!
😂in the early weeks it is hard to fit it in but in a few weeks time he will stay awake for longer between naps and you will be able to fit it in then.
How
Soon can I start this? He is 3 days old. I’m good at burping, farting, swaddling, diapers.
Is side sleeping ok? What’s the best sleep posture for a new born? What about his cord? Do you hold there face or let them face plant and practice picking it up? Again 3 days old. Anyone any pointers?
Why we have to do tummy time
My baby girl is 4 months now and she doesn’t like tummy time at all, I don’t know why?!!!!
My grandson is 4 months and he absolutely hates tummy time. He screams every time we put him on his tummy. 🤦♀️
I still to chest to Chest tummy time I love it but not as much know. She is 5 M
It's great that she likes the chest to chest tummy time. Hopefully after watching this video there are some other tummy time positions you can try with your little one.
We do enjoy each one but we like chest to chest at bedtime and in the morning.
My problem is that my son loves to be on his tummy and he just goes to sleep. :(
Can you do too much TT?
Nope 🙂. Our little one is 4 months old and spends most of her time on her tummy. She's happiest in that position so I let her stay there as long as she's content
@@EmmaHubbard Thank you :)
My little one cries if she's on her back. She only wants to be on her stomach while she's awake- so tummy time happens all day for us
That’s great!
Actually i gives 1..2..positions from this video without knowing about tummytime🤪
