  • Today's video takes a quick look at our power packs and goes mild to a little more wild on our social media guy's 2016 Mustang GT.
We install a AFS Ported 18+ intake manifold, a JLT cold air intake, and a custom VMP tune.
Be sure to check out the entire video for the results. The car is a completely different animal!

Thanks for checking out the video! What's should we do next to JD's car?

I have a 2016 GT, and just paid it off! It's stock except for tire upgrade (went through the factory p-zeros in 12k miles), but it's nice to see some real N/A options out there. Forced induction is expensive if you don't have $8-$13K to spend. I'm curious to see how far your team can go with this N/A GT without breaking the car or the bank. Great video!

I no longer have it but my 2015 Mustang GT auto, with a Circle D 3800 stall, CAI, GT350i, 1 3/4” headers, no cats, full exhaust on E85 made 464rwhp/400rwrq SAE. Now it had a full stop the hop rear suspension from Steeda and on tires, ran a 10.97@127. I want to say my tuner tuned a manual car with similar mods and he made 20 peak rwhp more, similar tq.

    2 questions:
    1) what fuel was in the car for the "before" run and "after" run? (IE 91, 93, etc)
    2) why does the "before" dyno curve shut down at 6300rpm?

It's tough to say due to the number of variables. Wouldn't be surprised to see 450 or more with good fuel, a good tune, and a well maintained car.

The dyno sheet tells a very important story here regardless of the peak gains. The vehicle sees a substantial power increase under the curve from 4000 rpm up that changes the way the car drives dramatically. A street car spends most of it's time far away from the peak numbers. Especially Coyote cars that see peak power over 7k RPM. From red light to red light and your every day driving, your car lives in the mid range of it's RPM capabilities and that entire RPM range saw improvement as well as a much smoother curve in general.
All of this to say, the car drives much better across the entirety of the RPM range, is much more responsive, AND picked up 30 rwhp/22 lb-ft of torque on the peaks. The graph can be seen at 2:27 and you can see the difference in the curves.
