The only way a ''challenge mode'' can work in AL is, ''night challenge'' where you ''last'' as long as possible against your ship-girls.

maybe the disappearance of challenge mode is Manjuu is turning the Survival Challenge into the true "Night Challenge" 😳😳😳 since the survival one can be said to be the prototype for the "Night Challenge" 😳 that's why there has been no season since April

I forgot that challenge mode existed before watching this video. That really explain how forgettable this mode is
Challenge mode with no rewards (just a slightly different portrait frame with every new season) and fights that were a joke. That's why it failed.
I wish they bring back an improve Challenge Mode eventually. Also, you're editing is getting pretty good!

When u think about it its alot compare to other game. I think e7 only cost 3-4g and my heroes or gaurdian tales only 1-2.5 g

I am not sure but I hope they do redesign challenge mode and actually make it something fun and rewarding to do while you have no oil although they're probably not going to give it priority since more important content must be made
Actual incentives to make Challenge Mode worth returning like strong gear, Elite to Super Rare shipfus that couldn't be obtained in the ConPools, instead of lame frames

the challenge mode erased because for only flex ( and have minimal reward), i actually tried this mode because i thought it have greater reward (like ops siren or meta hunt) but nope.... i was wrong, i actually like but if the reward is great enough

Since they removed it I brought it up to friends. Good way to test timings on my ships and fleet set ups for free. Do hope it comes back revamped
Loved the video @Doujingod78! Can't wait for the next video man! I'm not surprised that there was a Challenge mode for Azur Lane, but then again, you're already doing daily fights from what the Comments below are saying so there's not really a Point to it. That and More and More Ships are becoming increasingly Stronger. If you were to be rewarded with some Oil, Ammunition or even a Gift for your Ship Girl, then yeah it might be worth it on top of it actually being a Challenge.
Also, How's HMS Illustrious and the Girls of Royal Navy handling the News of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II's Passing as well as The Ascension of Now King Charles III?

I knew Challenge Mode existed, but since the rewards were negligible and I was already busy enough with everything else in the game, I never bothered to try it.

If they make the reward into gems then it'll be worth doing.

That out of the way, it was a 5 boss gauntlet, where you'd do them in succession with a single fleet, that would not reset HP each fight. You also had subs, but if you mess up they'd sink in the early stages.
You get scored on how fast you do it and other things, and then you need to get like 8000 points total and clear stage 5 to get the seasonal frame.
It also had infinite mode after beating the regular stages.
At the start it was somewhat of a challenge, but then we started getting ships like Hermes, who trivialised it.
I'm glad it was never relevant - why? because it would only be one extra thing to grind, which isn't exactly very fun (Doing daily Meta Fights is already cancerous enough thanks)

Not enough Re-enactments like the Kormoran-Sydney duel, the ambush of destroyer Reuben James, the Kido Butai's raid upon the Royal warships on the Indian Ocean, every naval battle of the 1936-1939 Spanish Civil War and more

I forgot this mode existed... kinda like pvp they really need to redo the mission area cuz I legit forget pvp even is there cuz its this tiny Lil button on the bottom of the screen 🤣
PvP actually has worth while rewards. Trust me when I say bulins become very scarce and PvP is one of the ways to deal with the lack of bulins

And i guess daily shop refreshes giving out a cube every now and then.
At least, until you don't need to buy stuff anymore, then it starts accumulating, until you only do a single easy run each day for daily, or you just don't do any runs at all.
Sitting on 500k+ Merit and nothing worth buying for me, every ship is MLB, i have Bulins and Purins saved up from weeklies, i could buy more in merit shop...
I've regularly gotten AoN on Avrora for 1~2 years, then just stopped because i just didn't see a point anymore to obsess over the reset timers and point gain optimisation.
The exp is also not that worth it anymore, what with EXP books and all my ships being 99+
PvP still not as bad tough. it did help new to mid player to get some of their resource like a gold and purple bullin or new ship. But for high end player i could see it's being useless tough since after awhile you'll have more merit than you're planing to spend and dock space problem still exist, hence it's not that wise to stock up a huge number of bullin if you didn't have a new ship to spend them on

Not the challenge mode failed in Azur Lane, the Azur Lane failed as a game.
No matter how many new modes they introduce, in the end the result is the same - no one plays them. Challenge mode - dead, SOS - dead, pvp - dead, daily raids - reduced to one "skip" button, hard mode - if there wasn't core data shop, no one would play it cuz they didn't add retrofits and there's no reasons to clear hard mode for blueprints. And also devs stopped their unique feature to add new characters for reruns. Statistically, with each new Meta, fewer and fewer players play Operation Siren. And the 14th chapter was cleared by only a few players even on the Chinese server.
This game is dead.
