oh she plays with so much power, so much snap in her wrists, the tuning of those drums is superb, the pairing of those cymbals & drums is perfect.
It does sound really good.

Great rundown; thanks! Might I suggest you checking out the the fine products from Porter & Davies if you haven't already; you'll never have to worry about not hearing or feeling your kick drum again. Best money I ever spent for sure. Keep rocking :)
Beautiful drummer girl !
Her pronunciation of "machete" is awesome.
@Mitch Zimmerman - German pronunciation, just like when she's saying "warm" :-)

Vem pro Brasil fazer um Workshop aqui pelo amor de Deus, sou seu Fã, quero ver esse talento de perto, e te dar um abraço
Hi Anika :D
4:40 ❤
Nice mix, Anika. I know you have a lot of sponsors. Myself, I prefer more ring in the drum and a cleaner, crisper cymbal. I'm a little more "old school" than you. I have a TAMA superstar set and I love my classic Ludwig Supraphonic 6.5 with the Remo Emperor batter (really takes a beating, tuned high). My crash and ride cymbals are all "clean" Zildjians, with a 15" Sabian hat. Lovely kit. Been playing for a while (50 years) and I'm really impressed with your abilities. Everything you do shows you play with feel and heart, a lot of knowledge and confidence. One of the many things you do, is to use your right foot as a third hand. I have known a few drummers that have that capability. Oh yes, I almost forgot, and you should marry me.
Cool beats at 4:41! :-)
I Really Hope you Never stop playing one Bass Drum Pedal. There are way to many Double Kick Pedal Drummer's, that i could name right now. But I Really Respect your Work on the Drum's Keep On Rocking.
😘
wow...hmmmm...one day we ll rock the universe ....can t wait to meet you ....love your cymbal work ...darkkk lol
+Anika Nilles, your killing it as always! I was just curious why you angle your crashes away from you?
Hello Peter! As Anika likes to have her set as close together as possible, she sometimes hit a hi-hat or tom with her hand after playing the crash (angled towards her). When the crashes are angled away from her, it forces her to hit them in a different angle as well. No more toms in the way, no more bruises...
My guess: is Chris Coleman an inspiration? I get that it's a question of ergonomics and personal preference but he plays similar way.
Jordi Baselmans Agreed! And such a positive spirit! Ive watched his MI clinic here on YT and I didnt realise he went through so much shit
now my ocd can be put to rest knowing exactly why she does it. thank you
She explains everything in the ''Exploring Quintuplets'' Drumeo video.
She first saw Chris Coleman angling them that way, then she wanted to try it, and loved it because of... (Thomann Music answer)
When she says “trash crash” is so kawaii
Thanks Anika for the gear rundown. Would you mine telling me what inears you use also and what happens to the drums from around 11:32 to 11:35 the drums go from great to amazing sounding do they mute your speaking mic? Or something else? Thanks again
The switched from the Camera Mic to the Close Mics on the Drum Kit.
Anika Nilles sou seu fã
queria pode te conhecer um dia um grande abraço do Brasil.
Bonita mesmo!!!!
waw
Hi! What set of microphones do you use for recording?
Thanks
Ae vai meu liki
wasn't she with TAMA?
Before Tama, she was with Mapex.
she is with TAMA now !!!!
that outro drum fills was cool. I like to copy it and put it to my song. Can I? :D
Can you do an foot and hands exercise video? Just how to get your hands and feet "on the Sam page" when you fills and also how to get faster feet.
Wow... She shire does love her trashy cymbals...
i'm missing info about the drum kick pedal :( but anyway, the set sounds awsome when Anika plays it
Here you go, it's a Mapex Falcon :) tho.mn/bo7ia //Philipp
+Thomann Music thanks a lot!
This girl defiantly knows what the fuck she is doing! Incredible drummer!
any link to these specific hats?
Gui Schwertner she just took the top off of a byzance pure hat and the bottom of a byzance dual hat
5:53 I think she meant to say "machete" not "Maheta"
Why at some cymbals have Cympads and at others felts??It makes some difference that in sound??Do you believe personally that cympads make cymbals brighter and more crispy??
Anika you also like the Sabian hhx cymbals right? Saw you using them when you were starting out online.
thank God she is now with Tama ;) :p
She's from Sweden
whats the name of that little rubber tht goes in the cymbals?
That´s Steve!
Never noticed she had a lisp!
Não ten tradução BR 😭
Why does she angle her cymbals like that?
Holy fuck that chick can groove for days
Is it just me or does the awesome/experimental drummers like Anika tend to use darker cymbals rather than brighter, if that's case why its so? I prefer 1000 times brighter sound.
It's kind of a trend. I have a bunch of dark cymbals too, but I'm always bringing out my Paiste 2002's. Nice and bright.
It's really a matter of taste, because for me, i really prefer darker sounding cymbals like those.
It's one of the things that i found really interesting about Anika's music in the first place.
I've always loved good bright cymbals, until i discovered Anika Nilles... and her approach with darker/extra dry cymbals made me fall in love with those.
Now, I dream of Meinl Byzance Extra Dry cymbals... LOL
I always enjoy the way my brothers Zildjian's sound. I had a friend who would wail away on a small Paiste crash when he was very Travis Barker influenced. As the band sound guy, it hurt me (and my ears) so much that he played it over and over and over. Almost like he was going to lose it if he didn't smack it every half second.
so cute when Germans say "serious" instead of "series"
ikr
marshall221000 i'm german and I speak english fluedly but out acent sucks so much
which cowbell does She use?
Thanks wonderful sound
Thats the Russ Miller signature cowbell.
Nice trash -crash 👍
I live everything about her .. on this video tho.. I think is a little weird or bad that she has to look and or read the name and size of her cymbals like if she doesn't know what she has... maybe her drumtech should've done this rundown.... just saying
Eu ñ intendo mais vc fala engraçada... legal
What sticks does she use?
vic firth
Vic Firth 55As, I think.
long and relatively fat 😂
Vic Firth
Looks like Vic Firth 3A wood.
linda...
Why do you have your cymbals tilted away from you?
Okay, thanks.
It's because they're mounted low. The cymbals aren't titled away, the striking surface is actually titled TOWARD her stick. If they were flat, it would be harder to hit them with the shoulder of the stick.
I always tilted them towards me, didn't matter placing my cymbals high or low. But now i am into digital drums and vst's, more sounds.
