i personally like it more than deaths poker and the dark moon greatsword cause the steeple is just more consistent. i dont gotta worry abt landing a projectile
It such a nice weapon to combine with my beloved moonlight; you either have a double greatsword frost moonlight gs build and stack both buffs and use the moonlight greatsword heavies OR pure melee frost build greatsword build. If the Royal Greatsword wasn’t one big gaslight helphen steeple builds would be so much cooler combining the two
I've been using this weapon and it is surprisingly powerful! Can easily get over 1k AR with only physick and golden vow aow. Two handing is nice but offhand thrusting sword also comes in handy for faster weapons
just subscribed, great video! I switched to this weapon from DMGS to give myself more of a challenge (moonbeam attack felt too OP) and also because it looks absolutely badass lol. Also helps that the buff applies a LOT faster! Keep up the good work man
Onyx Blade reborn, good damage is just a mild plus. Hitting with the buff is a great tip, btw. If I end up running this after my current run I'll keep that in mind. Wouldn't have occurred to me
There's one thing that it does the best. When you dual wield two of these, damage and frost build up go nuts. The only thing that was slightly better dual wielding were poisoned katanas. Yes, it's the most basic thing in the world...well, what can be more basic then enchant a weapon and go slashing with basic attacks. But when you smash everything with basic things, you need nothing more. And it's great.
I've been recommended a few times to dual wield this weapon, especially with the Dark Moon Greatsword. Even with the dual wielding status penalty, you will insta-frostbite nearly every mod in the game, and bosses in just a couple hits!
@@the_jersey_side I don't know who came up with dual wielding something with Dark Moon GS. Dark Moon doesn't need a second sword. It's a heavy attack spam machine. And it charges enchantment forever. Two steeples do it faster then one Dark Moon) That's the main reason actually: *click-click* - and you're ready with two flaming freezing swords to kick asses. The only catch is you have to go NG+.
Speaking of Lore. I wonder if Land of Shadow in the upcoming dlc is the Helphen. But it probably like Morion Blade Londor stuff again. Never to be mention.
We'll see plenty of extensions to the lore, but I didn't notice anything Ghostflame related in the trailer. I'll have to agree, I think we have another Londor situation on our hands
Having a slow, heavy follow-up like Godslayer's Greatsword would have been cool, but I see why the weapon is what it is: They just wanted to put the DS3 Onyx Blade in the game
@the_jersey_side Onyx blade was my favourite weapon in ds3 by far. Something about its simple play style and complex design really resonated with me. (Also black flame is cool af). I just feel they could've done something to make it shine a bit more. Like how the onyx blade was the longest greatsword in ds3. Imo the darkmoon GS just outshines it in every way, they're basically the same concept except the darkmoon GS has a projectile.
Also gotta say as a con to the weapon, besides Death’s Poker and Dark Moon GS being arguably better, you also can acquire both far earlier into your run, both having much higher damage potential. Helphens Steeple just feels like a very….honest? Weapon? No gimmicks no tricks no super busted mechanics. Just really good stats.
New subscription added! Great video. 👍👍 Are you new? Why you do not have more subscribers blows my mind a little bit. Lol. Cheers! Keep up the good work! 😁💯
Thanks much! My first account I uploaded on was from back in '09, but I've only been doing this style video since last year, so I still feel like I'm new, lol!
I've used this weapon exclusively for the entire dlc, beating all remembrance boss bar Radahn. It has served me really well and looks absolutley fukin sick. Fashion souls for the win
I want to pair another greatsword with darkmoon (it would be my first int run) would you recommend helphen steeple or deathpoker? And should i invest any point in arcane for the frostbite buildup?
Depends what you're going for. If you're primarily using Darkmoon and want a sword to use in your left hand for jump attacks, go with the Steeple. If you want another greatsword you can spam the Ash of War on, use Death's Poker. Also, leveling arcane won't increase the frostbite buildup for these weapons since they don't scale with Arcane. Invest more points in Intelligence instead, and the build will be much more effective!
@LeisYT4DBL Sounds good to me! That would justify using the Shard of Alexander much more! How much frostbite build-up is that per jump attack, like ~200? Crazy!
@@the_jersey_side yeah it's honestly insane, and the stance breaking happens so fast, and it's even better that both scale fairly well with int so you can do it with a magic build
Mostly because of the nature of my build videos. I made builds based around the DMGS and Death's Poker around this time and wanted to compare and contrats them. That's why most of my videos center around a single weapon, with a handful of exceptions
A personal favourite. Nothing comes close aesthetically
Indeed! I didn't even know it had that red jewel in the sword until I started using it for the run!
Real and if you use it with blasphemous blade they do insane damage
Hate when devs make cool items so weak compared to the boring ones

It's the best when you power stance with the Dark Moon. Frostbite procs so fast and jump attacks go brrr

Thanks! I love the DMGS so I overlooked this thing constantly. That red jewel glowing at the top of the sword is just beautiful!
@@the_jersey_sidehey man i really liked the vid i was wondering what the background music was

Awesome to hear! Hitting with the buff is a nice way to still make use of the Shard of Alexander with this build!
This weapon is.in the souls games since demon souls dont share nothing with the Onyx Blade
this is basically the onyx blade but frostbite and magic instead of blackflame lol
It may be a kind of objectively worse take on the sword buff ash than most since it lacks any attacking aspect, but who cares when you can swag

Can you apply the buff to both when you dual wield them? How does that work? Been a while since I played
@@casperinus take left one in two hands, use the skill, go back, use the other one.
bro the outro is a looping black ops zombies round change sound effect thats crazy
indeed, that's part of the soundtrack to last level in World at War's campaign!
soo entertaining ure deff underrated
Thanks!!
Powerstancing this with a Death Bird Poker is stupid fun.
If I can justify using that weapon in another build video I 100% will. That thing melts has like nothing else
Hear me out.
Helphen's Steeple + Dark Moonlight Greatsword for powerstancing.
Indeed, that would make for insane frostbite buildup per hit!
Hey, great video dude
Thanks man!
nice vid, you earned a sub.
Thanks!!

Could've greatly benefited to a follow up heavy attack that did an explosion or something after the AoW. Or a unique moveset.

While it's no Death's Poker, it is still by far the coolest weapon in the game (pun not intended).
Feel like a little extra distance on the AoW would make the weapon so much more comfortable to use and definitely a mainstay in my arsenal

Awesome to hear, man! Radahn is pretty susceptible to frostbite, so I imagine that came in clutch!
You have no idea man. Was 1 hp and right before his fatal blow landed on me I got a lucky hit that caused a frost buildup. Huge clutch indeed 😂✌️
