▶Recipe for 4 to 5 people:
500g - 1lbs Potatoes
250g - 1/2lbs Carrots
400g - 3/4lbs Tuna
400g - Mayonnaise
50g - 4 TBSP Peas
Splash of Sherry vinegar
Salt to taste
Olive for garnish
Red peppers for garnish
------------------------------------
▶Method:
-Put the potatoes in a pot of water and bring up to temp
-Peel the carrots and add to the water with potatoes
-Add eggs to the water.
-Once the water starts to boil, place 10 mins on the timer
-Remove the eggs after 10 mins, peel, and dice
-Check carrots and potatoes with a knife to see if done.
-Remove carrots when the knife goes easily through
-Same as carrots, peel the potatoes when cool
-Dice carrots and potatoes.
-Add eggs, carrots, to the mixing bowl
-Drain and add tuna and peas.
-Add mayonnaise, salt, and mix.
-Add potatoes last so as not to mash
-Plate and garnish to your liking!

In Russia we traditionally use the докторская колбаса (Doctor's sausage lol) or chicken instead of tuna. We call it оливье (olivier), because it was created by Lucien Olivier. Traditionally, we eat olivier for the new year. This is New Year's food and Russians rarely eat olivier in everyday life

This is a great salad James. We traditionally make it every New Yeas Eve in Russia but never seen it with added tuna. I also add pickles to mine and fresh chopped dill. Happy New Year! 👍

James I just love this recipe it definitely brought back memories when I was hanging out in a tapas bar in Barcelona. My step grand mother,was Russian and I have the recipe for Russian salad and she says to put pickles, sausage,a lot of peper, salt,and it says, don't cut the eggs,crush them with your hands. I found that part really interesting because I always thought you wanted to have that egg white texture in like cubes or small pieces. I don't think modern cooks would do that. I suppose it must have been a household thing
