@@lorigodon2063 Fair point, Lori. The device presented here, tho, is not simply a "Child Lock" controlled by the Driver. Its a "Smart" Child Lock that detects other vehicles coming your way automatically and sends the command to "Wait" and can be By-Passed by the Driver. To me, its completely ridiculous and anyway I would not trust such sensors on any car especially during winter when the car itself is covered with ice, snow, dirty slush, etc, for my kids safety. I will keep my good old Child Lock button operated by me, after I looked in the mirrors myself. But I'm sure all you said here is that you care for kid's safety. I'm with you.

Seems like this is a potential threat to ride share passengers. My daughter or wife not being able to exit a car when they want to is a deal breaker.

you can exit the car, even with child lock is on. Its in the booklet.

Have 2017 Santa Fe, Didn't know my son could open the door with the door locks in place. Now he is 3 and he can from his car seat. No one told us this was an issue. We don't have the child lock and i dont know what to do. Hyundai was no help. Can this be added?

Charles Gross it’s pretty much the same for all cars, they have manual locks that only take a few seconds to engage.

Great feature/car, but silly commercial. Who lets their little kid get out of a car on the highway facing side and head off into bushes - all by themselves?
What am I saying - lots of people. Hyundai you got a lot more work to do saving kids lol

Great commercial and way to one up Chevy saying they are better than everyone else for just having rear seat reminder. Now you have that and this. Maybe that is why Hyundai was te only brand that wasn't shown as all of these cars you need and still wouldn't get as much, because with Hyundai you get as much and more.
