    How much would a typical oil change cost if a mechanic needed to do it? Also, have you ever taken the Cavalon to Catalina Island? A trip and air tour of the island would be fun to watch. Thanks and keep up the great work!

      You would have to find out what your local mechanic charges per hour and if any new parts would be needed but we're looking in the $300 range.

    I like the mech. video. You need to do a patch test on the oil like we used to do on hydraulic fluid samples in the Navy ( NAVAIR ). Rocky is great.

    Hi Henry, given you've got 1100hrs on your 915iS are you going to have to change the motor as the TBO is 1200hrs and people don't tend to overhaul Rotax's? In the UK Gyro instructors can't run engines on condition without an exemption even though you can for Microlights (LSA's). Be interesting to hear your thoughts on the 915 and now 916iS! which is 2000hrs TBO out of the box. P.S. Rocky's great fun!

      Last year, Rotax raised the TBO for the 915 to 2000 hours like the 916.

    Did he install the new crush washers? Not sure I saw that in the reassembly. Why didn’t he throughly clean the anti-foaming screen with a degreaser to better inspect for embedded metallic particles? Why didn’t he drop a strong magnet down into the oil canister to really remove and inspect for metal particles? Did he send the oil off for analysis to determine metallic composition as well as bearing wear? Was the magnetic plug previously over torqued for that socket slip off and go clunk. Was the table of torque values nearby? The smallest oil leak on a pressurized system can really develop quickly.

      I don’t know anything about this process, but are all the things you mentioned part of the manual or are they recommendations from experience?
