    Ford did a great job building a truck you can drive off the dealer lot and immediately take up into the mountains and start wheeling. Plenty of CZcamsrs have shown that. I'm impressed!

    When folding down the rear seats on the 2-door Bronco, you need to flip up the rear seat cushions first before you flip down the rear seat backs. This allows the seat backs to lay down further.

      I went with a Jeep Gladiator Rubicon...does all I need it to do (has to do everything as it's my Daily Driver!) and more, as-is from the factory. The only thing it can't do is get better MPG numbers, but at least it gets better than "your" Bronco.
      But then all serious 4x4/off-road vehicles have that "endearing quality," yes? ;-)

    Ford hit it out of the park with this. Great review as well. I was telling my wife yesterday, I feel like Ford hired a bunch of Jeep bros and locked them in a room and said "Okay, write down the best features of the Wrangler. Now that you've done that, write down everything you wish the Wrangler HAD and find some other crazy examples from forums and things like that!"

      Add to that the much better safety score for the Bronco over the Wrangler, so in the unfortunate event you get into a highway collision on the way to the trails, you are more likely to be back at the dealership the next week getting your replacement.

      So, I feel like some folks don't like to compare the Bronco to the 4runner and I get confused. Sure, you can take the roof and doors off (easier!) on the Bronco and Wrangler but the 4runner seems more of a fit to compare than the Defender (I see you TFL). Frankly, they all kind of fit in the same space (offroad SUV), inlcuding the Defender, and are somewhat different use cases but could easily be cross-shopped, IMO. I'm excited to see the comparo with Bronco and 4runner but would also love to see how they stack up with the Wrangler and Defender so folks can really see how they all compare. I'd also love to see a true Blazer/GM and Xterra/Nissan offroad SUV too!

Seeing the off road and overall capabilities of the Blazer/CM and Xtreera/Nissan would def be interesting!

When tfl did their video of the bronco wrangler and defender I was bummed they chose that expensive unreliable defender instead of a 4runner which is basically the same price range as the bronco and wrangler and used in the same space. I know the wrangler is the king of rock crawling and the 4Runner/Tacoma/land cruisers are kings of the overlanding scene and the bronco seems to be trying to do it all but I think off road tests with the 4Runner or fj cruiser compared with the bronco and wrangler is what alot of people want to see. Tfl even have an fj cruiser so not sure why they didn’t add that in the review. They always wanna baby it so they can sell it later for most profit.

So "noise" is depending on your perception and the vehicle you are comparing. My guess is you are a Jeep fan. I’d love to see your 4Runner at that creek. It already has skid plates under the front end, transfer, and and gas.
    What I like that over the Jeep is that it seems to have more interior room both 2 and 4 door. But I may be wrong.

    Ryan, good video. After driving the Bronco, would the most capable 4Runner stand a chance against this? I don't know how tall you are (I am 6'2") but was the leg room enough for you? Looking forward to your comparison video & will you be reviewing the 2022 4Runner (TRD PRO?) soon?

    • @drivingsports
      @drivingsports  Před 2 lety

      I’m 6’1” and no complaints on legroom in front. In the most extreme situations the Bronco would be superior simply because you can fit larger tires without requiring a lift and the trick front sway bar disconnect is pretty useful for articulation. But I’d rate a 4R TRD ORP with KDSS pretty close.

    First person I've heard that thought opening the rear gate was difficult . Most rave about the different positions and the fact it opens really wide . The rear seat bottoms are supposed to be flipped up first before folding the backs down so it gives a more flat cargo space . Also you say it's really loud and not good at all on the freeway but compared to what ? It's certainly better than what it is competing against , the Wrangler . Also the camera does have guide lines and stop getting out to check clearance around the vehicle , the 360 cameras birds eye view would do that for you ,LOL . Oh , you also complain about getting 16-17MPG but you are constantly hammering on it in the video keeping it in boost ;)

    • @drivingsports
      @drivingsports  Před 2 lety +3

      Loud compared to any vehicle I’ve ever driven including the Jeep Wrangler. In the video you can see the back gate spring back at me. It’s annoying. Might just be an issue with the sample they sent us, but it was a real neusince. Never trust a camera when driving someone else’s vehicle. And cameras don’t verify clearance. In our next video we found the tracking lines.

    Ford has some really nice touches on the Bronco! I like that they mounted the mirrors to the A-pillar/hood so you stay legal with the doors removed. Also, the charging port on the dash is a great idea. The GOAT modes and one pedal driving features really simplify setting up the vehicle for off-roading! I will say the fuel economy is a disappointment...I get better economy than that in my stock 2014 4Runner on KO2s!

      I drove a jeep with the doors off on a 2 lane highway and let me say this- I hated always having to look back to change lanes. I hope jeep finds a way to implement the mirrors into the A pillar. And also the death wobble was terrible at around 60 but got better at 70 for some reason. It was nice over all but not something I’d personally want.

      @@CarnutMM It isn't, but it is an ancient design with a 5 speed transmission. You would think Ford could find a way to squeeze better highway economy out of a vehicle with a 10 speed transmission.

      I am pretty sure Skyjacker's Jeep Wrangler JL in the Motor Trend Ultimate Adventure in Alaska got close to 20 mpg highway on 40's. My point is there are so many clever design elements in this vehicle that this part of the design feels like they dropped the ball a bit.

      @@justinanderson181 The death wobble is either defect or worn out parts, even wrong tire ware i believe contributes...
