  • Hello guys and gals, it's me Mutahar again! This time we take a look at what appears to be an update on The Open Hand Foundation situation where it seems a donation has been made, this is the bare minimum and a lot of questions remain. This is however a good first step. Thanks for watching!

We know that they're missing like 75k from the grants from that other charity person.
After indieland started, they seemed to have stopped reporting their golf tournament income, which if we're generous and say from 2018-2023 they'd continue making around 35-40k a year that's 210-250k
This year had an indieland too so that's another 80-100k
Then we're missing money from subs, bits, superchats, raffles, auctions, any donations sent to the charity via patrons of the golf tournament. Again, for at least 6 years (We don't know if the 2014-2018 reports that are the golf tournament include these additional funds or if it's purely just sponsors) which is likely another 100-200k
Which would put the ballpark for missing funds at around 465-500k. Again, just since indieland at least (Though it wouldn't surprise me if they'd been skimming from the golf tournament the first 4 years too. In fact, the success of it probably prompted doing it with indieland)

Charity fraud is the act of using deception to obtain money from people who believe they are donating to a charity. Often, individuals or groups will present false information claiming to be a charity or associated with one, and then ask potential donors for contributions to this non-existent charity.
If this had never been brought to light through Karl and Muta, I highly doubt anything would have been done.
The personal gain stuff also doesn't apply when talking about group organizations due to the fact people can noncomplicantly be involved.

Charity scams are much more common than you would think.. many charities either don’t properly disclose where the money is going, or purposefully mislead people as to what the charity is for…
its one of those things where it creates an environment where embezzlement can run rampant..
seeing as that many youtubers have created their very own charities and foundations, i think its fair that all charities should be examined thoroughly, since youtubers dont have the best track record with intergrity…

Cooperate "elites" have been running this scam for even longer, the youtubers are just catching up to how it all works. The only way this type of thing is gonna change is if they the government were to actually do something about it. But with the problem of lobbying... it's an uphill battle. As is many things money related in the USA.

This story was really personal to me...I watched my Grandfather wither away with Dementia and Alzheimer's... we were the primary caregivers because we didn't want to put him into a home... he would wake up scared in the middle of the night and not know where he is... he forgot(many times) who me and my sister were. He thought we were my father and aunt. It got so bad because he also had very bad Asthma and was on oxygen but would forget that he had to breathe through his nose and not his mouth... he didn't realize he would get less oxygen that way. So to see this story really got under my skin. Thank you and Karl for putting in the work on this. Immense amount of respect to you guys

When you have to fight this hard to get someone to do the bare minimum after 10 years, it's no longer their accomplishment, it's yours. They may have had the money, but you're the reason it ended up where it belongs. I'm honestly amazed things turned out this well. I was half expecting the money to just be gone. Here's hoping the rest of the money can be accounted for and donated.
Regardless of what the legal implications are for Jirard/OpenHand, at the very least they should never again be trusted as a charity. Even if the goal was just to accumulate funds for a lump sum donation, there needs to be a reasonable time limit. You either raise the required funds over the coarse of a year or you settle for a smaller donation. Waiting 2 years would already make me borderline suspicious. 10 years is just crazy.
