Very good demonstration, well explained and easy to follow. I just tried PNF stretching for the first time today and sure enough it allows a much deeper stretch after the contractions.

What is the difference between pnf and static stretch ??
Is it true that we should continually stretch for 15 mins without contracting the stretched muscle in case of static stretch and in case of pnf we should stretch the primary muscle followed by isometric contraction and then stretch for 20 sec ??
    Please reply

Hi, might be late but here's my answer:
Static stretches don't include a contraction-relaxation-stretch cycle, it's called static as the principle is to push the movement to its limits and hold it there, with a bit of tension, which is normally going to soften and then you can progressively win a bit of (passive) Range Of Motion (which probably will lead to a better active range of motion).
When it comes to PNF, the tempo is a bit controversial, but the point is that you should ask for a contraction, then wait for a few seconds after the end of that contraction before stretching further. Hope that was useful.
PS: I think you meant 15 secs for static stretch (you wrote 15 mins lol) but the recommendations are more around 30s I think. 15 secs might not be enough for a good stretch. Over a minute isn't ideal neither.
