I hit 400 yards once...hit asphalt cart path 3 times...each bounce was hit perfectly and I ended up on the green on a par 5. I 4 putted and got par...
T F lol. Putting is the worse. Little tip. You can actually use the lines on your ball the line up your shot. Then you can use the lines on your putter to follow the lines on your ball. Sorry if you already knew this.

So I’m 2017 they where hitting consistently over 400. In 2018, the longest was 393. Did rules, the ball, or club set change.
Also, denser air is going to slow down the ball a bit while in flight. It's all about the conditions. In some comps the tail wind helps push the balls out to 450+. In my last regional qualifier in Hawaii a slight head wind dropped my shots into the 340s, while 1 guy caught a lull in the wind and hit it 386.

I know right? How come I can hit it so good on the range too but when I get to the course I don't hit it as well.. It's like someone switched my balls on the first tee.

#1 was done with a standard length driver, not the super long ones like the rest used, so that's pretty damn insane
I don't think the numbers on that last drive were correct. I was under the impression these guys had to use clubs that were legal in terms of USGA regulations? If that's the case, A 149 mph swing, even if hit perfectly dead center of the face/ball, would yield a maximum flight speed of 223.5 mph. So I think one of those two numbers has to be slightly off 👍

@@glyphsuritos6588 Drivers are allowed to have a maximum smash factor of 1.50 to be considered "legal" under USGA regulations. Smash factor is the relation of club speed to ball speed. So a legal club can yield a smash factor of 1 to 1.50. So at whatever the speed the driver is swung, a regulation ball is only capable of going 150% of that club speed (and that's if the ball is struck optimally or near optimally in the center of the clubface).
So if you have a swing speed with a driver of 100 mph, even if you pure it the fastest it the ball should be able to go is 150 mph.
So a 149 mph swing speed with a USGA legal driver should yield AT MOST a 223.5 mph ball flight (149x1.5)... 👍
I've heard of guys getting a smash rating of 1.51, 1.52 or even 1.53. Not sure if that's just a small margin of error on the club manufacturer or just a miscalculation by the trackman machine recording the swing!

Club speed has a tolerance of +-1.5 mph for TM3e and +-1.0 for TM4. For a club speed of 100 mph with a ball speed of 150 mph, this will give a variation of the smash factor from 1.478-1.523 (TM3e) respectively 1.485-1.515 (TM4).
Note that the uncertainty of the clubspeed measurement is really an uncertainty on where on the club head the measurement is referenced to. There are significant differences between heel and toe speed (in average +-6-7%, meaning if center is 100 mph far heel is 93 mph and far toe is 107 mph), so this combined with uncertainty on where the radar reflection origins from on the club head gives this added club speed tolerence.

@@Maybesethrogen I'm the same I can drive it a tonne but short game is hopeless, that said I've never had any traning, I remember being at a driving range a few years back and the owner was there and saw me hit a ball over the length of the range and into trees at the far side, he came up to me and said "I'll need to extend my range if you keep doing that" it was 315 yards to the trees and I maxed it out without a bounce with a driver that was there for anyone to use. I'd say with traning and better equipment I could add decent distance.

Whats funny is my Dad use drive the ball almost that far with the old persimmon head with steel shafts. Couldn't imagine had he played with the technology of today's clubs. But these guys do hit it a mile.
