I usually use carrier pigeons to measure my drives.
Before he hits the shot, I like how Kyle is on the course talking through all the variables. It reminded me of Evil Knievel before a stunt.

Congrats on the record! The farthest drive I've heard of before this one, other than those with cart path assistance, was 575 by Ryan Winther, some time back in the early 2010's. Keep the records coming Kyle👍 You got 600 in ya!

Yeah , that’s nuts! 579+ to be honest,that’s like 390 yards further than I can go! I’d have to go Driver,3 wood,3 wood,54 wedge to get that far. And that’s getting all my strikes perfectly.

Well, it happened to the absolutely right guy, the incredible Kyle Berkshire! I got to say that there are some pretty funky looking long drive swings out there but Kyle's is pure poetry and would not look out of place on any pro golf tour in the world so there's something to be said about that unbelievably powerful and very esthetically pleasing motion having been the one to accomplish such a prodigious feat. Those launches started to look like they needed to file a flight plan with Space X :-) Awesome. Cheers.

Many years ago, I met Jason Zuback while he was practicing drives. He said he swung so hard that he had stress fractures in many of his bones. He also appeared to be heavily into steroids. Kyle is actually far more supple and flexible, IMHO. Putting one's body through this sort of stress takes a toll. I hope Kyle takes care of himself.
Seriously, it could not happen to a nicer guy. I Met Kyle at the Pete Dye course in French Lick, Indiana and he was such a good dude. just sat around answering questions and taking pictures with anyone who asked.

In disc golf they go out in the desert with super wind. There has to be some regulations and I mean wind, altitude, yadayada. I play a course in Goleta Ca on a par 5 I’ve seen a ball roll within 60 yards because of a cart path and the next hole the ball rolls back within 60 yds of the tee.
At 233 ball speed with shots on target, no doubt records will be broken. Nice job Kyle. Can't wait for next summer!

It's a long drive all right, but it should also be noted that this course is 2,270 yards above sea level. The ball travels further through thinner air.
Well yeah and it had 40 mph gusts the help push it, they weren't hiding any facts that they were maximizing ball flight. I agree though I think there should be a conditions check on a record like this.

But don’t forget ,Mike Austin did it with a wooden headed driver and Balata golf ball. No comparison to modern equipment, beat his drive with the same equipment , not gonna be easy I guarantee!!
Was Mike Austin's shot on video? I'm not doubting you. I'm genuinely curious about how they measured that distance, what the ball actually carried, what the ball speed was, how much distance did he get on the roll out, and so on. I'd really like to see how he did it instead of just trusting stories. I don't doubt he hit a mammoth drive, but when you say, "Mike Austin did it," are you saying his shot went 579 or that he hit over 500 yards?
If Kyle were to use a wooden head driver, he'd splinter it in just a few shots. Those clubs weren't meant to withhold the type of ball speed Kyle has.
If it isn't on video, the shot can't really be referenced unless he had professionals out there tracking the ball and measuring the distance.

In 1989 I hit a ball over 800 during Hurricane Hugo. Piece of cake.
a record like this makes me think of a 100 yard dash while one runners gets to run downhill

Wind is a big fact too
I've seen Kyle record a 575-580 yard drive posted to CZcams. That is 3 times the distance of the average golf Drive off the tee. Most golfers Drive the ball between 175 to 200 yards. Just think, Kyle hits it more than twice the distance of the PGA Tour average Drive. It would take 2 Drives of 290 yards to Drive the ball a little past Kyle's Drive of 575 to 580 yards which was likely hit at high elevation where the air is thin I'm guessing? Likely around 6800 feet above sea level for this kind of record.
Cool shot still Mike Austins 515 is mighty impressive considering it was in a tournament one shot chance with persimmon wood.
Well his 515 never happened as Google Maps shows the hole and he only had 440 yards of room. It was always nonsense.

Not a world record, you cannot just make up a hole and hit by yourself with a bunch of friends and claim a record. I once hit a ball of the side of a mountain in Scotland, it went over 600 yards. I am the world record holder.

@@darrenmcintosh326I don't know too many driving ranges that do have a 300 yard marker I've seen a bunch with 30 foot nets at the back about 275 yards away. If the ball is still 30 feet in the air at 275, I guess it's safe to say it was hit 300. I've seen people hit it over that net and my jaw dropped

With your distance, the rotation of the earth comes into play. I think if you hit sue West the earth will rotate under the ball a little and help you out.

What really amazed me was the consistency of which he was hitting the balls straight. If I tried to swing my driver the way he does, no one around me is safe unless they're standing right in front of me. Lol!

I put that into context with my home golf course's longest hole being 550 yards. I have never reached it in two. LOL. add another 30 yards on top of that. Amazing Kyle!! Come back in the summer.

Not really a record. You cannot turn up to a made up golf hole with some pals and claim a world record. World records are set in tournaments, longdrive events, verified independently. I might have hit a drive 580 down a mountain, is that a world record? Like Thor lifting 501kgs in his home gym, that is nice but it is no record.
