The late sixties and 1970s....Irish society hit the sweet spot. The economy was on the up....wages were rising, and there were lots of good-paying industrial jobs around. Crime was practically non-existent by today's standards. Communities were still incredibly cohesive. The summers were glorious. And those charismatic people who lived through two world wars were still around.
Of course, there was a hidden darkness.....but it was hidden.
Then the 1980s hit.......and everything went to shit.
Well said… correct
I am 40 years out of Ireland but I was happy to see Stillorgan shopping centre.
I come this are
I too left leopardstown 45 years ago.. I am now 65...Use to hang out at bewleys at stillorgan shopping centre, great memories.
Horrendous music, spoiles the video
Thank you uploader. What a poor decision it was to build on Wood Quay site.
Having 'footageforpro' in the middle of the screen for the duration of the video renders it unwatchable. BIG FAIL.
Thanks for uploading this, very interesting!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Brilliant 👏 enjoyed every bit of it
In your face Apple and Tesla - Cahill’s had self driving cars back in the 60’s! Also love the blue skies, been a while since one of those was around.
Lol, Cahils lead the way!
Great footage, but the music is way off, more suited to New York City !
The camera man must have been 6ft 6 and always on the top deck of the tram. Most of the clip was overhead skywards. I think more colourful back then but also hidden decay.
Better days
Really? Emigration was still high. We had brutal industrial schools, Magdalene laundries, mother & baby homes, hidden sexual abuse. Do you that was better?
Bravo Bravo me encanta!! 👏
Totally agree about the words in middle of screen.
Woooow
♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
👍👍👍👍🤗
All the cars imported from England morris minors on long mile rd in show rooms
the watrmark is totally unnecessary. Thumbs down i'm afraid for that.
Before the city was invaded
By Cronwel you mean, 🤨

Yeah, people were leaving on the emigrant boats back then.
Invaded? Piss off
Wasn’t alive here. 🤣😂😅
un watchable
