I use to think the 70's were gaudy, men wore long hair, some with unkept long hair, bell bottoms, side burns and the clothing was colorful, both for men and women, ties got fat and collars got big- however, I do miss those years. I think we wore those styles so that when the generation of the future looks back in time, they immediately know- it's the 70's.

Sigh, when the city of Melbourne was beautiful, original, clean and not Asian ridden. They have come here and destroyed our culture and made it cheap. Love seeing the tram stop in Elizabeth Street and I would often visit that Brashs and bought a few electrical's and VHS tapes from there. And Bourke Street had so much character with the trees and brown setting. Time machine now! ... Thank goodness I grew up in the real Melbourne

In 1984 I competed my matric. I remember as a young girl I used to reason that if the blacks were given the same educational opportunities in fact all the same privileges etc, as everyone else, back then, we would not be in this predicament today.. I may not agree with how SA has deteriorated but I still stand by that conviction...

My father filmed colour footage of the Waratah Festival in the early 1960s which I have and is less grainy than this film. I had thought of posting it to CZcams for general viewing but it has controversial scenes of white Australian men painted black (blackface) marching along to represent Aborigines, which could offend viewers, though it would represent attitudes of the times.
