I actually really like the small form factor of the normal new 3ds. I always appreciate the extra size of the XL model but I've also never had any issues with the regular screens. But the normal sized 3ds has even better portability from its weight and size making it very easy to slip into your pocket.
Also unrelated but I have two new 3ds XLs and both of them are dual IPS. Also, I'm glad you mentioned modding the 3ds in your video 👍

@@frokfrdk This also makes it a bit more durable when it comes to dropping them because it's not as heavy so it won't hit the ground as hard. I always have a protective case and screen protectors on mine to keep them in good condition too.
Btw I really enjoyed the video, I could listen to another 45 minutes solid of you talking about them
The 2DS also surprised me and quickly became one of my favorites handhelds. Who knew a cheese wedge could feel so good to hold 😂 Great video, Thanks for sharing!
Amazing content. I tried to repair a 2ds once because my cousin jammed a cartridge in backwards. But the cartridge slot is soldered to the board. And as I came to know, I really suck at soldering. So I bought a new motherboard in the mail. The camera broke of in shipping. As you know, the camera is required to boot. I’m great at this! 👍

Absolutely great video! I recently just bought a North American “New” Nintendo 3DS XL Hylian edition, and it happens to have both IPS screens. I ended up getting rid of my disservice and home brewed it; i really want to add the SM64 remake on there too!

The (new) 3DS is still my “desert island” system that if I were limited to one console for the rest of my life it’d be it. Too many good games, both original and back catalogues of VC and DS games.
First thing I bought after getting a job out of college was the Dragon Quest n2DS because having a DQ 3DS had been a dream for a long while.

I get exactly what you mean about the 3ds XL not feeling as good as the original. I also have a love for the original 3ds, there's a premium and solid feel to it with the shiny finish and the touches like the 3d indicatior glowing, none of the other models felt like that afterwards.
The 3ds XL in comparison feels cheaper with the finish on the plastic and less printing on the surface of the plastic, being embossed into it instead. I also never liked the way the top and bottom of the console chamfered so much at the edge, I thought it looked ugly. I much prefer the new 3ds XL design

man i wish i never lost my ds lite, i had that same one that you have. got it when i was 5 or 6 and it was my first gaming system ever.
When the new 2ds came out I was convinced it was some sort of nintendo smartphone

I vividly remember trying to snip off the little nibbet on the New Super Mario Bros 2 3DS cartridge and tried to stick it into my DS Lite. Ahh, good times. 🤣 I also had a translucent red 2ds, I think it costed about $120 when I got it back in 2013. I bought it since my DS Lite broke because of the hinge, so I decided to get one that didn't fold lol.
You know hearing someone say the DSi had a better camera just feels great because thats what I thought.

The 3DS was my first ever handheld. I used all the money in my bank account to buy a secondhand og aqua blue 3DS back when I was like… 14? I think?. I now have a new 3DS and a new 2ds xl (both of which I bought secondhand off eBay) and i will say, the 2ds is really nice to hold. It has a good screen size. The top screen is a lil thin and wobbly and makes me nervous but the bigger screens are so nice. But my new 3DS is probably my favourite. I made custom skins for it and the 3D is so much nicer to use (i still dont use it that much but occasionally ill put it on to help with depth perception, esp in top-down games), and the design feels sleek. Overall, i love this lil system. I wish I’d gotten into it sooner coz I didn’t really like the games I had for it when I first got it so I didn’t play it very often. I wish the switch had download play and streetpass. I miss those features so much
In 2016 the day before my 6th birthday my parents bought the exact same blue translucent 2ds as yours for like 100€ and i started playing it again while im waiting for my New Nintendo 3ds to arrive

Yes, as much as I try there is literally nothing I can do without doing a deep vacuum every single time. Doesn't help that the table is black
i own two new 3ds xl and one new 2ds xl and thinking of getting a new 3ds. would u recommend it, if i am already used to the bigger screen? i ve heard the resulution is better on the smaller model tho.. which one do you play the most? great video btw ❤️
While the pixel density is better on the smaller screens as it's the same resolution but smaller, the larger size is much more pleasant to use. You may prefer the smaller size so honestly it's up to you I'd suggest trying it first
N3ds standard with dual IPS is the ultimate.

I currently have a 2DS but I always wanted the smaller New 3DS just for easier portability and a lower chance of scratches on the screen since you fan close it, if I maybe get one on christmas I will give my little brother my 2DS.

I still remember when back in 2017 my dad for Christmas gifted me a New Nintendo 3DS XL SNES Special edition, i was 8 at the time.
I still use it and i kept it in pristine condition but i still haven't modded it because i am scared of bricking the software
If you follow the tutorial it shouldn't get bricked

Which one do you prefer? normal size or xl? I having a difficulty to decide whether to get normal new 3ds or new 3ds xl.
Depends what you value, if you are planning on taking it lots of places and shoving it into a bag the smaller size is nice. I am a fairly small guy, even I like the size of the XL models, the ergonomics are nice and the larger screens in my opinion are so much comfortable especially if you are used to something like a larger smartphone. I say go based off of what type of phone you're used to in size
Will modding your 3ds cause issues with things previously on the SD card such as DLC or saved data DLC like bookmarks in Fire Emblem Revelations? I'm nervous about doing it. I also want to have the instant 300 tokens because I hate to shake my 3ds for days just to play 2 minutes of that StreetPass fishing game in the Plaza which is also basically a DLC.
It shouldn't, the files are all separate from each other. I wouldn't suggest going online with a modded 3DS tho

you don’t have to buy the AR Cards, because nintendo offers you a free PDF file with all the ARCards

The last year up to now I kinda were reliving my childhood (dreams) of handhelds (even writing this from a steam deck in bed) aquirei n g a v i ta and later on a new3ds, after my GF "infected" me with her new3ds XL :D
I lucked out and unknowingly to the seller and me I got a dual IPS model, still so happy about that, felt like winning the lottery.
I think that a h o m e bre we d n e w 3ds is still amongst (AMOGUS) the best handhelds ever made

The Device itself is superb, but writing too much with those trackpads is just ... Caplar-Tunnel inducing.

The hinge on my DS Lite is cracked but I did that when I was about 6 or 7

They were all cleaned, it's just that the original 3DS has an old screen protector that's scratched from when I bought it originally. I'm not spending more money on screen protectors on the systems I don't play much
Nintendo made one of the best and most usable version of 3d with the new 3ds line. And basically nobody cared. A real shame.
