Here is an interesting scenario. A neighbor made an offer on a leftover 2022. The dealer still has eight 2022 models on the lot. Our neighbor put the VIN for an "instant cash offer" trade in value on KBB. They took that number and made an offer on the 2022 model, with contingencies. The vehicle had a November 2021 build date. The dealer demanded MSRP, which was NUTS. The vehicle is almost three years old. They told the dealer that the day they drive it off the lot, it is an "old" vehicle. The dealer again told my neighbor there are no incentives for the vehicle. So, our neighbor asked for 5 new tires (the spare too), all fluids and filters changed (engine oil, brakes, trans, coolant) as well as a new battery. The dealer told our neighbor to "get lost". Amazing. And they wonder why their lot is packed with what you call as ... LOT ROT. Cheers.

After driving it a few days I noticed that there was vibration in the front when braking due to warped rotors. The dealership stated this was due to inactivity.

There is going to be a lot of recycling with these vehicles not selling they sit rot rust, paint fades, tires deflate, bird craps, dealer lets them sit and they don’t care figuring they will sell all of them real soon, days turn to weeks then months then years, dealers are like why are we not getting customers? our prices are the best, best deals, best interest rates, the best for the rest, customers inquire offering a lower price dealer says NO this is the best price, customer leaves, next customer comes they make offer, it’s less than what dealership wants they leave,

Yep, lot rot, and along with the "decomposition" comes fledgling depreciation. But no real deals. Too many add-ons to cut that MSRP. And on a side note, Jaguar, Land Rover break down in the show room, some on the car carrier from factory to dealer lot. Low quality and cost by OEMs. I remember when Cadillac and Lincoln had their own separate divisions with few shared parts from the Chevy and Ford parts bins. Now you can buy a Lincoln/Bronco Sport/Escape and get the same low quality, and mechanical issues.

I was looking too late and the allotments were very small... had to settle for a 2021 '7000 mile base car from the US to get a 5 speed... it had power windows, power locks and cruise. Locking and unlocking all 4 doors manually would have been an absolute pain if you could only use the key and no cruise would totally suck while interstate driving... I made the right choice in retrospect... but I get the point and had the same mindset a year ago. Mirage is still about as simple as a modern car as you can get these days....

If a MR. COFFEE generator from Back To The Future 2 was a real thing, it would put GAS ICE cars out of service pretty quickly.

Yet, they can't be bought in US / Canada now - and when they are available, there will be a 100% tariff on them. This angers US buyers that want a decent deal - and are severely strapped now because of Bidenomic Inflation.
