- Crucifixion was one of the most dreaded and painful forms of execution in ancient times. Yet, because almost all depictions of Jesus on the cross were painted centuries later, our image of the death of Christ is in many ways incorrect. This short video teaches a few things about what we do know about crucifixion, and what it teaches us about the Savior.

The Romans crucified thousands during the Jewish revolt, so it was not uncommon and you can lose the loin cloth; the victims would have been stripped naked for maximum humiliation and shame.
His pain and suffering was necessary as He paid for the punishment owned to us by our sins. He is truly our Savior.

You can't even imagine how painful , grave suffering Christ went through for our salvation. And some don't even know Christ.
And that is the saddest of all that some does not know him.
If we eat His Flesh and drink His Blood ( through the form of communion in the church ) Christ will remain in our hearts and we will remain in Him. And if we die Christ will raise us up in the different form of body and take us up in His Kingdom many mansions were prepared for us. The more I realize the depth of suffering and pain Jesus endured for me, the more it breaks my heart. I love him... I never meant to make him suffer this way. I feel like I owe him a debt that I can never repay him.
But I had a thought just a moment ago. When a father adopts a child, does he regret how much it cost to adopt them? Does he look at the effort, the time, the tens of thousands of dollars he spent? Does that father ever blame his child for the price he had to pay for them?

The enormous cost, the wait, the pain and heartache the Father went through to adopt that child... it all becomes irrelevant the moment that child first walks into his home. ❤🫂

@Mavors44 religion give a person a set of rituals and acts that will earn a person Heaven. Scripture makes it clear no merely human act is effective. Not one human has ever deserved to enter Heaven since the original disobedience corrupted the very DNA passed down through intercourse.
Jesus did all that needed doing. Faith in Him and His sacrifice is all that is needed. No rites, not repetitive actions, just simple FAITH.

I was an Episcopal seminarian in 1974. It was Holy Week. During my New Testament lecture, our room was dark. My professor read the description with sound effects, from the betryal, to the mock trial to the scorging, to carrying the cross beam of the cross, to the nailing on the cross, hoisted the cross up and dropped into the hole for the cross to stand up, to the dying words of Jesus. I shall never forget! My mind was there.
He was wounded for our transgressions. He was bruised for our iniquities. The chastisement for our peace was upon him.
And by his stripes we are healed!

Sometimes I imagine someone piercing through my hands and feet some nails and then I imagine having to hold all of the weight of my body on those nails. I've always said this for year's. It's impossible for a person to have the strength to carry a full cross of that size & weight while being crucified at the same time
Yes, most historical authorities are of the opinion that all that those condemned to death by crucifixion carried was the horizontal beam of the cross, and that even this was unlikely in the case of female prisoners. The same authorities also voice the opinion that, having been stripped naked for scourging, the condemned remained stark-naked as they were publically paraded to the place of execution, whether burdened with the 110lb. weight of the horizontal beam or not

This was very hard for me to watch. None of us can possibly imagine what Jesus was thinking while he hung on that cross, except to say that he had to have had conflicting emotions with the excruciating pain that he had to endure and the deep love that he had for mankind. It is hard to understand why he was so willing to die like that for me. Believers and Non-Believers alike need to get a firm grip on this and to live our lives in the way that God intended.

Were the Roman Governor Pontius Pilate together with his Roman soldiers or guards of Jesus' tomb professional in Matthew 28:11-15 since his soldiers accepted bribery to falsely testify of falling asleep while on duty as the disciples of Jesus stole his body without impunity by Pilate???

I’m not that religious but it’s great to learn the history on how things actually happened during the times of Jesus. It would rather know what happened when it actually happened than to blindly believe in something just because people obligate themselves to believe in it. Knowing the history can teach us the reasons why the Catholic Church does certain things in their masses.

Oh, I hear you. The process of crucifixion had to have been horrific. But don't forget, that was the form of Roman capital punishment of the day, and many experienced that same pain and public shame. What separates the pain Jesus endured, from the pain that man endured in that dreadful act, is that Jesus was also enduring the wrath of God while physically suffering. And no man can come close to describing how that must have felt like. That was the real suffering and punishment even though the events that took place at Calvary was a demonstration, as Christ was the lamb slain from before the world even began...Amazing, just amazing!
