Assuming Fenway Park was always painted green, that would be changing 375 years of tradition since it was built in 1912.
"Despite the name, the Green Monster was not painted green until 1947; before that, it was covered with advertisements. The Monster designation is relatively new. For most of its history it was simply called "The Wall"."
In case you are interested.
@@evanharrison4054 Fascinating! Thank you for letting us know! :)
You're expecting Mantis to look beneath the surface of these facts, rather then rushing it out.
@@evanharrison4054 That is actually not fully true. If you read the book that the Wikipedia article references, it actually says pitchers began referring to it as "the green monster" after it was painted. Even if it took 10 seasons for pitchers to refer to it that way, it would still have been The Green Monster for the majority of it's lifetime.
@@MrRickulus better be like Schizo Elijah and daydream about shooting the rioters while high thinking he's being the courier and shit
You know what? The blue actually looks pretty good.
As a Yankees fan I agree lol
I love irony
Yeah. And it contrasts the green pretty well, making the words and numbers stand out more.
Would be a good addition to a hard-core minuteman playthrough
@@DarkEcho119 ah a fellow minutemen. Cheers mate.
Another detail in Hardware Town is that if you take the collapsed floor in the first room of the store and go around the initial ambush, there'll be dialogue from the raiders asking where you went. One of them even walks to the front of the store to check if you were still there
I recall it also being possible to kill the raider who tries to bait you inside, and you can listen to them wondering what's taking her so long.
Two of them keep talking until one gets annoyed and shoots the other.
@@chungusbooper I always go in via the storm door on the side of building, so I pretty much always hear this dialogue.
It's one of the few really well-thought-out narrative scenes in the game where what you do changes what happens.
You can also sneak up on the back door. There are two raiders talking about an encounter with someone who can do sound effects
You can ambush the ambushers. By simply going through the back entrance or if inside go to the left where you will find a door which leads you to a ramp and their victims. Or you could wait it till two of them come searching for you.
if you sneak in and wait, one of them will suggest its taking too long and they should check the out back, the other tells him to shut up and wait, the first guy keeps suggesting they check the back until the second one shoots him for not shutting up lol
I love that "ambush" so much for the unique interactions you can have on entering either side of the building.
There is also a side entrance, which leads you into the cellar, from there you can go into the front room, to the back entrance and to the first floor, i always choose to sneak to first floor, because it's best to ambush the raiders. Always do this quest with piper, because you can max out your affinity very fast with her if you cheat. I used every colour which is possible till today, ok tradition is green but you get paid anyway, so what the heck.
Also if you just kill the girl before she makes it inside, the raiders won’t be aware of your presence
my first playthrough I genuinely had this feeling that I was gonna be ambushed if I go inside, and to my surprise I was right
I always paint the wall the wrong colour when I'm doing alternate start playthroughs, purely so that Piper actually has a legit reason to be calling me Blue this entire time
Did you only play once? You're a vault dweller...thats why you're called blue, ya know, because the mandatory BLUE vault suit?
@@jamesmeppler6375 Ye.
But for the alternate start playthroughs, when I'm not from a vault.
@@jamesmeppler6375 Did you only read once? They said alternate start. Ya know, the mandatory beginning of all things?
@@blammo5226 perhaps that should have told you, i don't know what that is. Instead of doing your normal saintly role, beating the institute. You decide to play a mischievous prankster?
@@jamesmeppler6375 You saying you dont do your job as a remnant of the Pre-War America and execute the muties?
I've noticed that detail in Fallout 4...pretty funny to see Abbott get mad.
I actually kind of like how the wall looks with blue more than green lol
Also how the heck does he paint the entire wall with just a small splotch of paint
Master painter
You give him the full can. It's still a stretch to paint the entire wall with a single can, but he has more than a splotch to work with.
@@whitworth5s248 Ok, and you added nothing with this statement lmao
Maybe made more by watering it down
@@MWPRO1000 and… how are you adding to the statement?
The guards have unique dialogue if you do that, in my playthrough I went for yellow and the guards complain it looks like pi*s. Anyone knows what they say when you go blue?
They'll say something like "you're the one who turned the wall into some kinda blue monster?"
It's funny that it looks better as both yellow and blue
@@Foxingg In real life the Green Monster isn't all the same shade of green either, the part that stays green in the blue/yellow versions is the bright green color while the lower half with the scoreboard etc. is a darker, earthier green, almost close to a brown.
Quantum Cola piss maybe?
Good for Dimond City That we can't Use The Blood paint than the Super Mutants wanna take a Closer Look
If you sneak around back of hardware town, the one raider will tell the other about a guy who came in and when they ambushed him they realised he was using fake weapons and just making super realistic sound effects and they were so "wtf" about it they just let him escape
Yeah he was chucking rocks but making sounds of pulling and dropping pins and explosions
and i forgot where but there are 2 more raiders that talk about the same guy, saying he pretended to drive off on a motorcycle or something
And when you’re listening to the raider conversations inside the building, they even go something like:
“Maybe he got through the back?”
“Nah, we got two guys over there.”
They'll even call him, ironically enough, crazy and say they need to watch out for those types.
Paint the wall, Abbot-san. Wax on, Wax off.
I didnt even know the wall will eventually get fully painted
I choose blue on my first time playing FO4, i think it pretty matching with the diamond city guard uniform because they wear blue color too
When maccready dislikes it when you get them green paint
One of the few quests that can reward you for failing it. I only found out about it by deliberately doing it wrong, just to see what would happen
Technically not failing it just not doing it the intended way. It's like executing somebody, if you killed the wrong person then you're still an executioner just not a very adept one
I think on my next Minuteman playthrough I'll paint it blue to show that the city is under the protection of the faction. Sends a much more powerful message than a few flags flying in the city's square.
I was waiting for the “get fucked “ and F.I.S.T.O’s “please assume the position” made me chuck my phone and start laughing my ass off.
Using blue just turns it into the Volksparkstadion!
Damn HSV fans are at it again
You can also over hear the raiders talking about a guy who makes sound effects, which is a easter egg from police academy
Fallout 4 NPCs give in too easy
"Dr Li, join the Brotherhood again."
"No, why the hell would I?"
"Have you considered joining the Brotherhood again though?"
"huh, i never thought of it that way"
"Hey Preston, I'm a raider now"
"WHAT?! Are you insane??? Our whole mission is to clear raiders!"
**exits dialogue**
**enters dialogue again**
"Hey old friend! Buddy ol' pal! There's some settlements that need or help! I'll mark them on your map."
@@Mate_Antal_Zoltan I do not get why Preston hates this. Doesn't having all the raiders in your pocket mean you can keep them as far away from the minutemen as possible?
And that's why New Vegas is superior, if you don't do the stuff how the people want, they hate you and you loose karma, Fallout 4 is so softened, no black or white, bad or evil, in Fallout 4 everything is grey.
@Blue Kiddo bruh
"If you wanna change up Diamond City, this is one of the biggest ways to do it"
That's... Rather disappointing, no?
No, that's Bethesda.
@@bfahrenit just works
What's y'all's favorite color to paint it in, Im actually digging the blue
If anyone picked yellow then I’d reckon it’s because they love the sight of Abbott’s pissing skills when he runs out of the green and pisses up the wall after a few drinks
I actually think the yellow looks amazing
Just the two completely different opinions on the Yellow in this thread is perfect.
NGL that blue is looking really cool
Compliments the minutemen flags for if you went with those guys
the real fire is Trader's Life in the background.
You should do the one where if you give dogmeat a teddy bear, he will play with it, the first teddy bear you encounter is in the mole rat cave under the red rocket station
Oh wow I didn't know the wall colour would actually change. The blue actually does look quite good.
Local man summarises the quest every single fallout fan played
You usually wouldn't expect this level of detail from Bethesda. Gotta give credit where it's due.
The thing with Bethesda is that could expect this level of detail..only until a certain amount of quests in which it devolves into where you wouldnt expect this level of detail. It's just their quirks with game design i guess
I used to expect this level of detail from Bethesda.
@@WDeranged sadly morrowwind was a long time ago and we'll probably never see those days again
@@trenchgaming2166 Skyrim did enough right. They lost me at Fallout 4.
I do still miss "Get fucked," but Fisto's "Please assume the position" had me cock my head back and laugh. Great stuff!
I'd love a small detail in a future fallout game that basically references this and notes a change in colors over time due to them using whatever paint they could get their hands on at times. Mainly because that's more believable than them constantly finding or making "only" green paint.. that's a lot of wall to cover to be completely reliant on the color green with the state their world/economy/agriculture ect..
Paint wouldnt last 200 years without drying up in its can anyway. So as far as realism goes any color is fine.
Wouldn't it be mis matched, or just brown then? the hundreds of tins full of green paint didn't survive, but the blue paint did?
The idea that hardware town still had paint left is preposterous, where have they been getting it from for 200 years? Acrylic paint will only last a couple decades unopened anyways
I loved how the music changes as soon as you see the pile of bodied down there. Still remember from my 1st playthrough. I loved fallout 4 and the settlements too
I wish Fallout 4 had more dynamic elements like this, like a raider base you wiped out becoming a place inhabited by things other than raiders if you come back a while later
the raiders at hardware town are pretty interesting. If you kill the lurer and just sneak outside the main ambush site the raiders will argue and the leader will kill one of the other members. Pretty handy at low levels for this side quest.
If you paint it yellow the settlers say "now if someone pisses on it we won't know"
I knew he would get mad if you brought him the wrong color but did not know that he would actually paint it.
this is pretty much the depth of how much the world is willing to change based on your choices
As a person from Massachusetts, yall are talking about the highest form of heresy
it also changes the city's glow that u can see from far away in the Commonwealth, "the great green jewel" or the blue/yellow one as u want, blue it's cool because all the vaultec thing and Piper's comentary calling u "Blue"
where's "get fucked"?
that's over 200 years of tradition we're moving away from
I believe some tradition should be remembered but change is an inevitably we must all accept as that is how new life becomes better or stronger
I thought that you made this video already, more than one time
"You know what fuck you, ungreens your diamond."
-Lone Survivor
I had no idea but this is great.
the blue jewel of the commonwealth🤌🏽
I actually found out about this during my current play-through, which was neat - I've since reloaded an old save in that play-through to redo some things, and seeing as I'll probably destroy the Insitute with the Minutemen this time around (in what will be a arduous journey to complete the game with the other three factions still alive), I'll probably stick with choosing blue again so it makes it look like the Minutemen decided to alter the wall to represent their faction.
I did this on my first playthrough. Thanks for pointing it out.
A city that has existed for 200 years and doesn’t even fill out a stadium needs a change of color at least
it is indeed a game
Woah.....I didnt get told to "get fucked" after this video, now it's even better
Honestly, I like the contrast. Brightens up the place.
Edit: But then again it is tradition to keep it green and we should respect traditions.
Fuck tradition stick a few road signs along the wall that would brighten it up
Tradition is just peer pressure from dead people
@@gagekieffer772 amen brother
Tradition got microwaved when the bombs hit, paint it red with the blood of our enemies
@@flyingsky1559 well I could argue humans destroying their own civilizations is tradition.
I really wish you could use blood paint. Even if it required, IDK, joining the Nuka-World raiders, maybe change the story so that if you found Nuka-World first, those hardware store raiders recognize you and offer you a can of blood as tribute to take back to DC. Instead of, you know, "Here's this gun running around in a suit of power armor; he's the PERFECT guy to try to murder for a few caps!"
I can not make a joke at the end of the video because of you, Fisto.
Never liked how Abbot says "You painted the wall blue"
No Abbot, YOU painted the wall blue
An awesome detail I never knew about, now I know how to screw with diamond city on the evil play through
I miss the ”Get f*cked” outro 😔
They missed the chance to paint it red and have the main character say “sorry I’m color blind”
Im pretty sure it's more like 350 years of tradition because Fenway was built in 1912 so I'd be roughly 150 years old by 2077 and it's been famous for being painted green that whole time too.
The blue looks great I’ll do that next time
"You painted it blue? What is this shit?"
"You keep that atitude imma paint the whole town red"
Gotta love how he complains but doesn’t do much besides scold you since he can’t go out there lmao
i did not know this. Awesome!
The blue looks great, as does the yellow honestly. I think just having either colour instead of green compliments the rest of the green really nicely.
Fisto caught me so off guard
That blue looks nice! 👍
y'know I legit thought Abbot would just tell you to get bent if you used the wrong paint
I didn't even know about that one. That's kind of cool.
It's 340 years of tradition, assuming that The Wall was painted green the same year it was in real life: 1947.
Historically blue is the actual national colour of Ireland whereas the green and orange represent Ireland’s Catholic and Protestant backgrounds so I always paint it blue
The raiders inside the building will also have some funny conversations if they don’t see you, and eventually it leads to one of them getting shot and killed by another if you wait long enough.
It’s best if you enter from the back or the basement hatch so they don’t see you since one of them later goes and checks the first room of the building.
Is there a video by TKS that talks about the crazy motorcycle person the raiders out back of the hardware store talk about? if not there should be
That’s one of my favorites
@@cosmiccowboy9358 Yeah I think they have a name for him but fuck if I can remember. The first time I heard them talking about him I just about shit my pants laughing
fisto in the end? ho ho you naughty boy.
Any mod makers out there. Adding different coloured paint to this would be hilarious.
Wow, had no idea :D cool!
Hell, both optional colors look amazing.
No joke your videos help with my depression
How
That is so cool
1:45 susi fisto momentium
I never actually found out what happened if you used the different colors. Interesting to know.
I kinda liked the yellow and green. Good Australian colours.
I legit like how yellow looks. Maybe it's my fnv hud brain.
The LF wall at Fenway has been green since 2077? That's like saying the declaration of independence had been at the National Archives from 2077 until the Lone Wanderer took it
i occasionally use the wrong paint, but i never noticed that detail, lol!
That’s craZy never knew this one
"YOUVE CHANGED 200 YEARS OF TRADITION!"
"But it looks good"

Thank you, the Wiki is lacking Pictures of the Blue and Yellow Result of this Quest.
A suggestion for a vid- If you drop the radioactive barrels on cottonwood cove before taking the trip to the fort cursor lucullus will be waiting in a radiation suit
The guard will have a new diolog line aswell
I was literally complaining that this wasn’t an option, you’re telling me it is 😂 god I feel like a moron
They really needed more stuff like this in the game.
The blue does look pretty good but I think red would look even better. Like a nice, dry "barnyard red". Shame you can't do it
okay but yellow actually looks pretty good
I still kept green since it’s Boston thing for me
People in Fallout: "Damn there goes tradition, oh wells."
People in Real Life: "DIFFERENT IS BAD! I'M GONNA FUCKIN REE BRO! I'M GONNA FUCKIN REEEE! LOGGING INTO TWITTER, I JUST CAN'T EVEN RIGHT NOW!"
God bless bless enclave

As an Enclave Fan I can agree
Bless you, Enclave. Blenclave.
Oh dang I never knew that. I kinda like the look of the blue better.
i always wondered what would happen if you used the blue paint, awesome of bethesda to include this.
Oh thats cool I kinda like the yellow
I could never bring myself to do it, The Wall’s always been green after all
Alright, I assume the correct position.
