I remember visiting this place once (because i did a playthrough trying to explore every corner of the map, including DLCs). A nice rad sauna, if you ask me
He was a cut character and part of a cut quest IIRC. He even has recorded dialog.

Yeah kinda sad, u can revive him and he'll resume some of his normal behavior, you can't interact with him as u were intended to

Oh is that why they put this much effort in? That sucks. I could see some interesting dialogue from this guy. Seeing as how he's a ghoul and has his own set up, he's likely been there on his own long before the NCR showed up and wants to remain independent.

It's such a shame how much was cut from this amazing game.
This is why I will always consider Fallout NV among my top 10 games. Despite the bugs and glitches, even after almost 200 hours exploring the Mojave, there is ALWAYS something off the beaten path that is missed.

I remember finding this quite early on as I was exploring on my way to the Mojave Outpost. Nearly shit my pants when I saw the Reavers there, because of how OP they were in Fallout 3.
Reavers are up there with swamp folk as some of my least favorite enemies to run into, lmao.

@@manscapedgrinch1427 except swamp folk are easily killed compared to reavers. Even with some of the best weapons/perks in 3, Reavers were still unnecessarily OP
He was a cut character and even had a small quest to go with him, you can find recorded lines in the game files

This is one of the most memorable locations in the game for me because I encountered it just totally organically and I remember being so impressed that the game's level of detail was maintained no matter where or how far out in the map you went
I just like the name "Hell's Motel." It's one of the more Fallout 3-esque inside locations in the game as far as how it looks goes.
It does have a lot more personality than like 70% of nv locations.

Yeah same, there is a mod (can't remember which) that uses the area for one of its quests too. So I assumed the whole thing was added by a mod. Cool to know it is from the base game.

The JSawyer Mod places the Lightweight Leather Armor and Sturdy Caravan Shotgun there as well

Didn't know about this and been playing fallout ova a course 10 yrs. Fallout series is a game I can always go back and play. It holds my interest in a game.
the good doctor was set up pretty well for himself, but receiving any patients other then ghouls in his location would have been beyond impractical
Nobody going to point out that the house is a copy and paste of the/your megaton house in Fallout3? Which is interesting as most Houses in New vegas are there own style, don't think there are any other Fallout3 copy and pasted houses in New Vegas

I found Hell's Motel on my 1st playthrough of Fallout New Vegas which I did in hardcore mode. I find some interesting things in games sometimes by just wandering around like a leaf in the breeze.
Exploring is so chill especially with ambient music
I remember this place, mainly the crater itself, because I remember watching a video on where to find a free Fat Man as a kid. Back when I was Fallout 3 stan, New Vegas kicked my teeth in compared to what I went through in Fallout 3. I really fell in love with New Vegas, I also remember pretending to be sick or injured so I can stay home and play it all day.
The unmarked undetonated nuclear bomb that has a Vault-Tec logo on it is definitely the most sus thing in all of New Vegas.

At this point I’m pretty sure the big reveal is America, Vault-Tec, China, Soviet Union, Zetans, Enclave, Skynet, and yet undiscovered factions all launched some nukes independently of each other.
@Skullhawk13 ugh, I hope not. Bethesda really don’t need to shit the bed like that, Vault-Tec did it. That was the plan years ago, that’s what still makes the most sense. Saying “everyone fired at once for some reason” sounds like something a kid would write… so yeah, Bethesda would TOTALLY go with that.

Something I've never seen anyone talk about is something called the Humble Cudgel. It is the unique variant of the lead pipe weapon. It is found in the sewers under the grate in front of Camp McCarron.

I have around 3k hours in NV half of it being modded half being vanila. I always had the idea that this location was added by the big ""A World Of Pain"" mod

I don't know if this has been said before, but in the boomer's quest, ants misbehavin', you are told to be careful not to shoot at the artillery shells, turns out they can actually explode with catastrophic results.

It's got some nice containers for your junk, is easy to remember, and the radiation is pretty much a non-issue as long as you have even an average stash of rad-away.

In my playthrough, the Dr wasnt dead and told me to leave the building. Always thought that this was supposed to be a quest for later parts of the game
I honestly thought everyone knew about this as I just wandered around the ghoul infested mesquite mountains and found this one my first play through. Damn reavers nearly killed Boone!

I was startled and amazed when i found this place, such an awesome game
I remember finding that years ago. I think fallout 3 and NV are the best when it comes to small stories. Fallout 4 just puts empty buildings everywhere, 76 sorta fixes that, but not enough.

A decade playing this game and I didn't know about this. I just looked up the location...didn't even know you could travel that far on the map. I assumed the map cut off before there.
Found this after 6 years on my original playthrough by literally climbing the mesquite mountain range out of boredom.
I literally just found this out a few weeks ago when I stayed home sick with bronchitis. I only found out from mountain climbing up after getting some sneak shots on mirelurks
After all these years and literally thousands of hours, I only just discovered this place a year ago.
I'm mostly familiar with this location because I have at least two mods that utilize the area for something. (AWOP adds a bunch of lore and an optional dungeon connected to the shack, and the new bison steve hotel and casino actually makes you go here for a fetch quest.)
Pretty neat area, also didn't know that trivia about the labcoat.

There are so many unique unmarked areas in this game. It was a treasure to discover them all, and soak in the environmental story-telling.
There's actually cut content in Hell's Motel. Dr. Rotson was originally gonna be like a wasteland doctor, who would be able to heal your radiation, addictions and such. Obsidian even assigned him the doctor topics, but perhaps didn't have enough time to record lines, as Dr. Rotson has the default lines (Which don't have ghoul lines) so they just killed him. A shame, it would've made the place a bit more cool and useful

The only reason I know of this place is I just recently started a pretty vanilla playthrough (WMX, Jsawyer, stability patches, Darn, QoL) and Josh decided to

hide the sturdy caravan shotgun here and I couldn't find it for the life of me. Running a crit build with stay back and shotgun surgeon so having a reliable 20g is crucial (quick reload makes caravan better than lever in my opinion)
I actually found this one on my last playthrough! Always makes me want to investigate every corner of the desert, every little thing in the distance I think might be something.
This is one of my favorite places in the game and I never see anyone talking about it

No joke, I just found this place for the first time two days ago. I have over 500 hours on New Vegas across two platforms and it still never ceases to amaze me.
That place is always my go to for early XP with reaver ghouls, just be smart and cripple their legs.
I'll have to keep this place in mind the next time I replay new Vegas I actually never visited here before and that is honestly surprising
I think this location was designed to be a player home but then the devs figured people would rather not be irradiated constantly so they just made it a point of interest

Hell's Motel sounds like the start of a creepypasta.
I remember finding this place in my quest to get all the skill books. I try to get perfect in every skill; the skill books and the level cap of 50 make this easily doable with points to spare. I always wondered why they put so much detail into this location just to have a dead ghoul and a Mr. Handy but, apparently he was part of a cut quest; probably time constraints. This is the game that most needs a remaster but will never get it outside of the modding community.
