I love how new vegas deals with more intense topics and themes, fallout 4 feels like a pg13 movie experience by comparison.

I love fallout new Vegas so much because every year I go down to Arizona to visit my parents, and we always drive up to Vegas, and it's just so neat seeing all the places I've seen in real life all dilapidated and ruined, it's just an overall cool feeling. I've also been to a lot of the smaller towns outside of Vegas like Boulder city and Searchlight, and when I first got NV and discovered them, it was amazing.
I've been to Cottonwood Cove irl, pretty comfy place I gotta say.

Obviously NV had to be reduced, but it was just weird to actually compare. Imagine how awesome (and impossible to do) a 1:1 version of NV would be.
I had a similar experience with Boston. I had visited there just before Fallout 4 came out, and then I decided I would spend a good amount of time just walking around and seeing how much things had changed in 250 years.
Now I wish there would be a Fallout game set in Houston so I can see everything I know so well rendered in 4K.

Bane right? I discovered it when I went to change to the riot helmet and was wearing them both. tested it several times to make sure it wasn't a glitch and it worked every time
I know this is an old post but I've found that same loophole as well in my playthroughs. I'm no coder but I believe the riot helmet falls under the facial attire subcategory like sunglasses or eyeglasses whereas the firefighter helmet is just normal headgear like anything else.

The fact that NCR has a whole part of the parliment made up of ghouls from the Boneyard and that they are a vital part of their society makes me always choose NCR above anyone else. Ghouls are very important to the Post-Fallout society of the game and not many realize it. Plus: the more social ghouls tend to keep their mind in check for a lot longer if not indefinitely.
When you think about it, nonferal Ghouls are essentially ambassadors to the Old World. Maybe some turned after, but a good amount seem to have been alive and well in the days before the Great War. Kind of an amazing cultural resource and people you can literally look to as reminders of when the world changed forever.
How are they more important to society? Aren’t ghouls literally just irradiated humans that can heal from radiation?

God I miss having this kind of variety in quests. Unlike some others I do really like Fallout 4. I do agree though that they went too far making it too accessible. Just this little quest has like 5 endings and that kind of thing is super rare in Fallout 4.

Also to add, it's my favorite weapon in the game but it's a GRA weapon so it's DLC. Knock Knock is vanilla.
Yeah, I used Knock Knock as my melee option until I installed GRA and got my hands on a Katana. Great weapon.
Daniel César my most favorite unarmed melee weapons are Fist of the north Rawr or Industrial helper (Both lonesome Road and my most Favourite ones. Also Rawrs Fist is insanely strong because you can build it in Sierra madre what made the DLC really easy

I don't know if it's big enough to deserve a lore video. Red Rocket didn't really have any secret agenda, they were just a company that worked with cars.

Yeah, that was perplexing to me, haha. I didn't have any companions when I did this portion of the game, to be honest. I was a level 6 nobody and that place was so deadly.

You know, for all the things we know about the Legion, we really don't know too much about them. We know the Legion's military, but I would really like to see what it's like back in the territory they control. All we really have is Cass grudgingly conceding that the Legion is much better at defending its trade and infrastructure than the NCR currently is.
It's a shame NV wasn't finished with all its planned story content, I'm sure the Legion would have much more to it than another glorified raider gang.
I stand by the fact that the Legion probably is the best faction to go with. Peace through strength

What Caesars legion is doing is gonna end up just like the real Roman Empire. Become just as corrupt (if not more) as the NCR, and eventually become so bloated it collapses in on itself. Once Caesar dies, no ones gonna know how to lead the raging lunatics and it will all end up in ruin.
The NCR, no matter what anyone in the game says about them being overly bureaucratic, is at least trying to affirm the dignity of the individual and achieve peace and prosperity for all people living under it. They at least hold elections, they at least recognize that civilization must return. They don’t go around cosplaying as legionaries and using the defense that their bringing peace to the wasteland to hang people on fucking crosses.
Say what you want about the NCR. The legion, no matter what, is ten times worse.

I doubt its much different than what its like in Fallout: New Vegas. People are hung up on crosses for being anything Caesar doesn't like, freedom of thought is dead, and slaves are owned. Great fucking place.
Meanwhile NCR once again, at least retains many of the rights and liberties that were guaranteed by the old world. Including the right of everyone to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Ayyy I live in Searchlight in real life. I remember being super pumped when I heard my town would be in the game. I was disappointed when it wasn't portrayed as a normal town like Goodsprings was, but I guess I'm just glad it got any sort of attention lol.

The church with the Speical Ops book has "Holy Hand Grenades" if you have the "Wild Wasteland" perk.

And this is why I almost always spend my time in Fallout New Vegas as a Legionary hunter with Boon. Not only do I feel like I am making the Mojave a better place, but the continuous surge of assassins sent our way just help us in killing more of them over time. Seriously Caesar, if the first batch you sent couldn't do it, why keep sending more? You are just making me more powerful for when I come into your camp.

If we look back in our world at Spartacus and the Third Servile War, the Romans underestimated the slave rebellion & it grew from a few dozen escaped slaves to over 120k (including non-combatants) within its two years of eluding Roman patrols & assaults. It was the only revolt that directly threatened the empire of Rome itself & resulted in over 20k Romans being killed by its finale.
In the game, Caesar's Legion seems to have learned nothing from those same tactical mistakes in their underestimation of the Courier (who escaped death from headshot trauma).
That slave revolt was not an existential threat to the Roman Republic.
It would be amazing if there was a scene where you're character turns into a ghoul instead of just dying if you get too irradiated.

This one would probably be better saved for once he truly gets into Fallout 3 lore more, due to the Enclave being one of the (arguable the only true, as well) antagonist(s) of the game. That would be when it could be truly done in earnest.

My Hentai Girl in fallout 3 & new vegas rad away and rad x were hard to come by at the lower levels unless you knew where to look and you would get power armor late game making it more of a challenge and going into radiated areas daunting while fallout 4 is like "oh radiation let me jump into my nifty power armor at level 2 and get less than 1 present radiation" while in 3 & new vegas you had to use rad away and rad x sparingly as there was less ways to get rid of radiation as well

Pro Legion on Hardcore is definitely the hardest way to play the game. If you role play it heavily and early, damn near everyone is your enemy and its a lot harder to heal (for the people who roleplay a Legion vet who despises chems)

If you're Roman, yes. But these are guys LARPing Romans in a far distant future. Most people today, and in the Fallout world, use Catholic Latin pronunciation, with soft Cs and hard Vs. The Legion doesn't because they want to embody the original Romans, so I use Catholic pronunciation to piss them off.

Hey anybody remember it being dark at the camp searchlight police station, it having a circuit breaker, and odd looking computer room on the Xbox 360 version??? I don't ever remember seeing all that.

Well I just went and looked. While the station does have the wierd looking computer room it does not have the circuit breakers and the lights are on. I have an un-modded GOTY version with all 7 DLC so _something_ has changed it. And I don't recall the lights being off in Gopher's LP either, but I will check.

So here is a little comparison i have of fallout 4 and new vegas (depending on how fucked up it is)
Fallout 4:
Synths are replacing people, slavery, raiders killing people.
Fallout New Vegas:
Nipton, camp searchling, the legion, vault 22, the strip (because of prostution and the cannibals) and much, much more like the sierra madre, the people in the divide, the burned man etc.
So in conclusion, fallout 4 TRIES to be fucked up, but fails completely compared to new vegas.

The only thing better than playing fallout nv is listening to your stories with your gameplay. You add a whole new layer of depth and point out a lot that I'm sure many people miss in their own play-throughs.

Nice to see the Medicine Stick in your arsenal Ox, I always think it has the best sights and it hit's like a train. As to radiation, yes, I feel NV did a good job making you actually wary of it, keeping rad-x and radaway is short-ish supply in early game, one reason I favour the Gecko Backed leathers, although they can't be obtained without going to Zion canyon. Later I do tend to buy amost any and all meds and chems I can find, but the tic-tic-tic of the geiger always makes me twitch a little.
I ran through most of these locations without a second thought most of the time, even more of a reason to play it again

I like the way you connect the town that are involved with the others! Doing side quests in side quests to sum up all the things that happened and is going on. And from this video I learned that I had missed a side quest, the one with the bug, so thank you good Sir for that! I played FONV for a good long time and I really want to see the way how you look at it!
I like the videos that explore the stories behind locations, especially when they connect to other locations in the game. Its fun to see if there is stuff I missed. Keep sleuthing Oxhorn!
I should mention that I'm not so interested in the NCR stories as I have played through the NCR ending multiple times. I've never been able to bring myself to side with the legion. Too evil for lil ol me.
Knock Knock axe is a reference to the movie "The Shining". There's a scene when a character named Johnny who trying to break down a bathroom door with an axe to get to his wife Wendy. Yes the movie has the famous line "Here's Johnny!!"
I always thought it a reference to 'Predator' and the scene in which Arnie boots in a door and says "Knock, knock!" before shooting some guys. Oh, and in 'The Shining' the axe wielder was called Jack Torrance, the 'Heeeeeeere's Johnny!" was how the Johnny Carson show opened for years.

Just want to express how much I appreciate your videos, my laptop crapped out over a year ago and I miss playing Fallout, but your videos are almost as enjoyable as playing the games myself!
Fun fact: if you shimmy up the edge of the cottonwood cove truck, you get and option to open the door and send radioactive barrels into the legion, killing them all, and repeating searchlight.

You won't regret it
If you wanna go by anyone's word... I used to obsess over Fallout 3, I 100% as best as I could in that game, got every achievement and trophy (both systems obviously) and couldn't get enough of it. After FO3, I tried New Vegas and didn't like it at first. Some changes are pretty big to the overall gameplay but keep with it, you'll get used to it and I can't get enough of the Mojave. I mean I changed my profile to Dr. Mobius FFS. It's damn good and definitely worth it. There's a reason why it got so much love from the purists in NMA forum and why it became even MORE admired after FO4 came out. The introduction of Survival in FO4 was 100% thanks to New Vegas' Hardcore mode.
As a former resident of California, I'd like to point out the fact that San Onofre is a real location along I-5, specifically a nuclear power station (also has a really nice surf beach). Finding the note on the fire chief's terminal made my day.

The entire New Vegas game gives you lessons on how the world isn't the nicest place and war changes it . Like the Nuclear Warheads in The Divide than changed the World from it's touch.
If you have the wild wasteland perk unique hand grenades called holy hand grenades spawn in the second church basement on the table with the upright box.
PRetty weird how almost everything in the house is burnt to a crips, but the highly flammable peace of paper made it through.
I love new vegas personally I find it the best fallout game thus far
When i found the farm i was so saddened by it i wanted to move my pc house from novac to the farm but i knew it wouldnt do anything. Also i was lowkey shocked when you called the farmers child a boy i guess in my mind when i picked up the notes i gave it a female image in my head despite nothing really pointing to gender
I'm surprised that you didn't also mention the Holy Frag Grenades that you get in Camp Searchlight if you have the Wild Wasteland trait running. Those little nuclear frag grenades truly are a wonder.

Interesting you mention those two. In the video on Cook-Cook I said there were two characters in New Vegas that were even more evil than him. Vulpes Inculta is one of them. The other is....well I think you know who I'm talking about and what he did to Veronica and Christine.

Ox, in that eastern church cellar, if you have the wild wasteland perk, you find the Holy Hand Grenades.
I like this mission but I am forever cursed to never have it 'completed' due to bugs on the 360. :/

Oxhorn please help me with this its driving me crazy. I was just outside bradburton at the Milton residence and I found a set of PA with one leg painted in elders bos paint. Are there other pieces of elder bos painted armour around the map or am i stuck with just one piece of a set ill never finish

Knock Knock is actually a axe used by firemen to help fight forest fires, but the name probably comes from the Shining axe scene. The heads on the axes even look similar. Didnt even notice before now.
Amazed how deep New Vegas goes in options. Thank you for saving me hours of replays and differing character specs, I sincerely think the lore is fascinating, but sometimes adulting gets in the way of multiple plays. You are a pro good sir, I could listen to your story telling for hours!!!

I forgot if this were an option or not but there should be a way you can open the trailer of the third truck overlooking cottonwood cove and roll out the radiation barrels/tubes out of the trailer since it's teetering off the cliff anyway, once they reach the ground and set off a radiation bomb. That's a smart way to get back at the legion. If not, then that's a missed opportunity.
