There’s an observation-shack outside the sole survivor’s vault that heavily implies deacon was there when the sole survivor came out of the vault
It has the Railroad symbol for "ally" on it too, so it's definitely a possibility. Dude's well connected.
If you go directly to the railroad right off the bat Deacon says he knows nothing about you
@@GREYWOLF1013 and you trust him?
@@skeltonslay8er781 I mean he is talking to Desdemona when he says that he has no intel on the Sole Survivor, so it isn't like he's talking to you specifically.
Indeed, it is a very curious addition and has spawned so many conspiracy theories.
This is a nod to the fact that Bethesda only hires like 4 people to voice entire games
When I meet an NPC with a raider voice, I know right away that they're going to be yelling terrible things at me in combat later.
Deacon was at least watching the vault from the beginning of the game, since not too far from vault you can find a railroad encampment that can be noted by the markings watching over vault 111
If i might ask, where is the railroad encampment?
@@nextism1873 top left corner of map, dirty water a chair, the symbol for allies..
@@JoshuaKevinPerry thank you
I love how he completely fails at faking small talk too, clearly knowing nothing about the role he's taking on
I'd say he does pretty well. He's supposed to be a random stranger, so it makes since for him to not have much to say to the random wanderer that wants to talk to him like all the other generic NPCS.
I loved this. And the Railroad being in an old DIA facility and their tactics are just so in line with the cloak and dagger of the Cold War.
CIA?
@@USSCYT "Defense Intelligence Agency" its the Fallout counterpart. I think there is a secret Defense Intelligence Agency here in the US, of modern days.
@@imgoldleader3938 Oh, ok. To be honest, I hardly ever pay attention to the railroad. Besides being spies they're kind of not a worth while faction in my opinion.
@@USSCYT they have a few radiant quests that take you EVERYWHERE
@@imgoldleader3938 yes actually both organizations exist today today it basically the reverse CIA instead of focusing on gathering Intelligence outside the US it protects intelligence and intelligence assets in the US but still operates outside the US just not to such a degree as the CIA
Deacon is the beacon of creepin
Deacon's creepin' is the beacon of sneakin'.
When deacon isn’t creepin, it’s havoc he’s wreaking
He also changes clothes at certain settlements to blend in while he's your companion.
he changes clothes when you load another zone. Makes it very fun to have him as a companion.
recently in my last playthrough killed a courser n gave him the outfit n he kept it n didn't change it not even when i would fast travel to other places or wander off maybe since i got his affinity max he keeps on what one gives him or a glitch
@@rojaws1183 it's not fun when you're trying to sneak around at night only to see him charging at you in his undies
Just outside Vault 111 is a makeshift "observatory post", and the railroad´s labeled for ally on it... not much to ramake here except the ashtrail (deacon seems to be a smoker).
Base on Desdemona diary on the railroad HQ, "Deacon working on secret project. Code-name Wanderer. "
(in an post apocalypse word when as Deacon says: "These days being able to even spell "Railroad" is cause for celebration" had a pre-war ally will be an inmese asset)
Seems that he gets the info from P.A.M., which has an interesting dialogue about 111:
"Accessing. Vault 111. Cryo Vault - believed destroyed."
So he actually watch us even before we get out of 111.
And I still believe that he is the girl who works for the railroad in Fallout 3:
Deacon: "One time, I got a face change and was a girl for a few months. You should've seen the looks back at HQ. "
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought he could be Victoria Watts.
Can you kill him while doing one of those? And does that have an actual effect?
Thanks for the great content all the time, you are the best!
Nah he's essential.
If you use mods to kill him, he will still show up like nothing happened at the Railroad.
All disguise Deacons are considered separate characters from actual Deacon in game
@@privatehudson516 i thought that this could be the case! Because it would be weird for an unaware player to try and kill this random npc and see him not dying. Btw thanks Mantis!
I think all versions of NPCs with different names are technically different NPCs in Bethesda games. I noticed this in Skyrim alot when the "battle" versions of characters are actually different NPCs in the game files.
Tks does this as well I’ve seen him sunglasses and all and if you try to talk to him all he says is "the more you know"
Damn you're right - even has sunglasses in his youtube profile pic... the Mantis is everywhere 😶🌫
I always interact with Deacon untill I exhaust his dialogue, just to make him nervous that I blew his cover
“What a day, huh?”
-Deacon, masterclass espionage agent, uses this exact line no matter who he’s undercover as
There’s also a little camp in the forest past vault 111. It has a railroad sign and a clear view of the vault entrance. Meaning, he’s been spying on you since you left the vault!
Was wondering when a Deacon video would be made. Hands down my favorite companion in the game.
Shame the railroad faction is so derp, as he was a cool character.
too bad there's no "wait, didn't we meet before?" reaction when you try to talk to him the second or third time in a different location.
Couse f4 is a shitty game
@@tunderstorm2769 yeah. too bad emil and todd are part of bethesda. without them maybe the stories would be more interesting and gameplay more complex. but maybe it would be even worse, who knows.
Deacon: He's victor, but worse
Great Title
I be creepin' you Mantis - In a loving, supportive way
There's chairs by all the settlements with perfect views too
When I pumped him full of lead he didn’t seem to stalk me anymore
I wish there was a dialogue where you can say "Deacon I know it's you", when he is stalking you.
*He really do be actin kinda sus ngl fr fr no cap*
He's one of my favorite characters in the franchise
No Deacon, I don’t have, like, important things to do. Thanks for asking.
Deacon, the one likable person in the Railroad besides Glory.
Creepin deacon.
Deacon is the reason I always hesitate to wipe out the railroad. Despite his constant lies he's an awesome and fun character to meet.
There's also a small observation post outside the red rocket gas station almost like someone knew that the station would be the first stop for the SS
You know the first two times I played through fallout 4. I did not know Deacon was stalking you around the map. My third playthrough is when I figured it out.
For my jobs background check they just hired Deacon instead. Much more comprehensive.
Deacon is the main reason I usually don't destroy the Railroad
Its cool because they could've had him say hes been watching us just to say it but wanted to show that much attention to detail
Damn that's actually really cool and impressive
What... WHAT... WHAAAAAAAT?!?!
Deacon you creepy S.o.B.! 😳
Ohhh, I wondered why a bald guy in sunglasses was staring at me when I was buying stuff off of K-L-E-O
The title got me
I remember a theory where deacon is the main guy from fallout 3,he said hes had plastic surgery
It was actually my friend who was doing a railroad playthrough who pointed out his bunker hill appearance to me. Didn't know about the others though.
I like to believe that Deacon is actually the vault dweller from 101. He kinda acts like the average player character... Lies, changes his clothes... Follows around a VIP like it's a quest... Claims to change his physical appearance every so often...
He says he's a synth but he doesn't have a component... He knows the capital wasteland...
I like to think that father and James were one in the same, or one was a synth. Which somehow Deacon knew.
It's a fun conspiracy.
When Hancock does his speech the first time you enter good neighbor and someone shouts him out it’s a random npc and I got deacon once
Not sure if this has been covered but in New Vegas if you pass a speech check with the Gomorrah front desk receptionist, you can get different gossip about the Strip each time you ask like Rotface.
“What a day huh”
What a day!? Huh.
He's also in one of the cryo pods at the start, atleast, when Kellogg is there, I can't remember otherwise if immediately when you get out, because if you go to the memory den before doing any quests and manage to be allowed to view it and walk around, Deacon is hiding in one of the pods
he is absolutely not in one of the cryopods lol
I dunno if it's intentional or not but I like the meta-narrative around him in that you could hear the same VA in each of his guises and not think 'Oh it's the same guy' due to how often voice actors get re-used for NPCs.
DEACON REALLY IS YOUR NUMBER ONE FAN.😺
I swear I saw him at covenant at one point too
Deacon is a synth what the Institute placed in the Railroad to watch you character just an idea
I’ve always known about this and I always wandered why. What did we do to get him to stalk us? He even has a post outside the vault.
Why do you think he vouches for you? To make sure you dont die, duh
@@LucyWest370 yeah but how did he know he was there tho
@@alexmontgomery1176 because hes a spy mate its what he does
@@LucyWest370 ? That doesn’t explain why tho. From the very start he keeps an eye on us so why?
@@Mothemann again, why do you think he vouches for you? Guy that got his kid kidnapped by the institute and is also a vault dweller has some pretty good motives for fighting the institute on the side of the railroad.
Nice job keep it up may not mean much but you genuinely make fallout more fun for me
in F4 if you are in a pip boy menu and hold RMB you can rotate the pip boy and look at it from a different angle
Deacon was also watching you when you left the Vault since you can find a small little camp around with a Railroad marking with a sign indicating that a friendly was around the area and how it was a safe area to wonder around
When Deacon becomes your companion, every now and then if you're not paying attention to Deacon, he'll randomly change clothes. I've seen it happen more times than I can count. lol
When you let Deacon vouch for you just so you can get in and destroy the Railroad: 2:16
Bruh wtf I literally installed Fallout 4 for the first time in almost 3 years today and when I got to Diamond City I realised for the first time every off my own accord that Deacon was posing as a guard......then TK posts a video about it 😳
I thought that was a myth. Good stuff.
There are also tiny skeleton hands in fallout 4
I remember I was in Nuka world and he showed up to assassinate him so I killed him with my splattercannon
I always just assumed there were only like 20 character models
I made this synth lover another corpse in the crypt. Ad Victoriam!
Honestly if it weren't for deacon and the unique silenced pistol I'd either completely ignore or destroy the railroad. I dont have any issues with synths like nick but the ones that look like humans are difficult to trust.
Seriously, the faction is so sketchy and weird, their entire existence is highly questionable, and I find it very hard to believe there'd be more than 2 or 3 wackos in the post apocalypse who'd be involved in the railroads goals.
They're unbelievable, and it's kind of a shame a lot of the cool spy stuff was wasted on them if you ask me.
Wow, I never noticed this
Deacon is my man to go after Danse
What a day, huh?
He also remarks about things such as getting the courser chip from the hunter/hunted mission if I recall
Known it for years
Get the make anyone a follower mod and have a small army of Deacons
I remember how to get A bundle of Kings oufit, you usually get a King's Outfit when you chip in the favor from the king to join the kings but if you look in the 3rd floors there is a lot of King's outfit so you don't waste a favor, just some neat fact i found while exploring the king place
definitely creeping...
I mean
He’s doing what synths do the best
*this message was endorsed by the BOS gang*
What happens if you kill him as a guard, doe she appear latter on?
I killed everyone on my first time at diamond city (obviously reloaded) but I was confused why that bald guard was invincible. This was actually before I knew about invincible characters lol (outside of companions)
Probably still got the save
The mo you know
what a day huh?
Somehow Bethesda can add all these super tiny details that breathe a ton of life into their games, and yet the writing remains shit. What the hell.
I don't know if other faction related companions can do this, but if you're enemies with the Railroad, Deacon will no longer be your companion and hunt you down. I saw him in a lot of various places: outside and inside of Diamond city, Croup Manor, Med Tek Research, Big John's salvage, and a bridge near Bunker hill. I made sure to keep him alive and see where else I might encounter him.
Nice
Best character in the game
Well thats the tipe of thing that happens in fallout 2!!!!!!
Epic nate here
There’s strong evidence that Deacon knew about the Sole Survivor before we even thaw. There was a Railroad lookout near 111 with a rail sign calling us ally or something.
But it doesn’t stop there, there’s also messages to Desdemona that he was looking into a new lead on the Institute. Eventually that lead led to us. Idk how, but he knew who we were. And he knew we would be a way into the Institute.
What happens if you kill deacon before meeting the railroad?
What happens if you kill him while he's disguised?
Deacon says that he's a synth, but he could be lying. Well, what if it's true that he's a synth and the only reason he tells the Sole Survivor that he's a synth is because it takes one to know one? It's been theorized many times that the Sole Survivor is in fact a synth, but there isn't too much evidence in the game to support that. What if instead of walking into the Institute to meet Father and finding out he's your son, you're approached by not only Shaun, but Nora as well. We see in Nick Valentine that all of his memories post-dumpster are of a pre-war detective. Could you imagine how impactful it would have been to the story to not only be reunited with their son, but their murdered spouse in synth form? "I WATCHED YOU DIE! WHAT ARE YOU?!" Only for the Sole Survivor to find out that he too is a synth, created by Father in his own image to lead the Institute along with their spouse, just so that Shaun could know what it was like to have a "real" family before he dies.
It would have made synths that much more disturbing, and it would have made Shaun that much more unhinged.
So if I kill disguised Deacon before officially meeting him, will he not show up?
I killed The Brother Hood of Steel in Fallout 4 then I loaded days later my data was lost 😐
I legit thought that Bethesda was reusing the same model for generic NPCs. You mean to tell me all those times it was Deacon? Wow...
Don't you have, like, important things to do?
What happens if you kill him when he is observing you
Is he a synth?
Don't you have like.. Important things to do?
While I don't particularly like fallout 4, it does handle companions a little better than fallout new Vegas, and infinitly better than Fallout 3 and Skyrim.
more skyrim ones please
Everyone knows
so deacon is johnny sins of fo4?
I see you’re making these awesome videos TKs-Mantis, but don’t you have like, important things to do?
How does he know you killed Kellogg ?
Such a great character. Too bad he doesn't do much in the story. Wish he did more

Anyone play 4 on xbox? Thinking about picking it up for cheap and trying it out with mods. I've only ever played in on playstation and the mods aren't great lol
