C'mon mover, you know you love the M18 Dromader. Where else do you still get to fly acrobatics for a living?
7:11 ripping the tail off: if the tailwheel caught the deck, then yes. Catching a cable I'm not so sold the plane would rip in two.
Here locally they actually use an arrester made out of 1/2inch sampson weave nylon rope to allow the crop dusters to stop in an overshoot. Doesn't rip the tail off, but the pilot tends to eat the instruments. The local company that sprays the orchards use Dromaders, and the airframe is amazingly rugged, but a 120 gallon fuel cell and a short runway surrounded by trees doesn't allow for a go-around most times. The rope is all of about 3 inches off the dirt and the main gear just roll over it while the tail wheel catches the line. Each end of the rope is anchored with a 250lbs. concrete block. Not going to arrest a fighter for sure, and perhaps that's where you are going with that, but I'd imagine that the tail wheel probably wouldn't catch a 2inch arrester cable in the first place.
Aaaaaaand, now you can bash me with a nerd stamp.
Oh, and as far as speed. yeah, they are slow. They have an average flight speed of about 90KTS, and land around 70KTS. Not sure what that is as far as minimums or maximums in the jet world.

The extras for the movie (in the Blu-Ray/DVD release or on Disney+) include a 15 minute film called "Klay's Flight Plan" featuring the director Klay Hall. John Lasseter is featured as the guy who came up with the idea. But they have Hall visiting the USS Carl Vinson, where he arrived on a C-2. A Hornet did a low-level flyby just for him.
They also showed production footage to the XO and others. They noted that the wings would always be folded on the deck of a carrier unless it was landing or taking off. Lasseter actually approved redoing that footage.
I don't really where I heard it (and it isn't in that documentary) but apparently they got the "We got you" from the LSOs on the Vinson and added that too.

Clay Hall, the director of Planes, actually went on an aircraft carrier during the production of the film. That’s where he got all the information on what happens in the comms and on the boat when aircraft land/take off on those carriers.

Yes those were super hornets with the VF-103 Jolly Wrenchs. Planes are Bravo and Echo Voice by Val Kilmer in Anthony Edwards. If you look closely at the helmets you’ll see that one is Iceman‘s helmet from top gun and the other one has Mavericks helmet from top gun. You should review Planes Fire and Rescue.

Mover, a civilian aircraft has indeed in the past been landed on an aircraft carrier, during the evacuation of South Vietnam the captain of the USS midway ordered a number of Hueys thrown over board to make room for an O-1 bird dog to land. It had a south Vietnamese airforce major, his wife and 5 kids onboard (pretty impressive for a 2 seat plane.......)
