Ford could do itself a favour and put more designs into the hands of their Australian design team given how well received the Ranger has been. They were the people that also produced the Territory and Falcon.
yeah but the base model ranger sucks as well...
@@Tommmmmmmmmmmmbetter than the hilux, triton, bt50/dmax and other options though
Funny enough, Ford Australia designed a new Ford Territory, but it's not sold in Oz, just SE Asia, China and South America. I'm based in The Philippines and have a 2022 model, and it's surprisingly good, not expensive and loaded with features. No idea why they don't sell them there, probably because they think Australia is a rich country and they only want the more expensive models. What's also odd, is Everest & Rangers are cheap in SE Asia, way cheaper than in Oz, due to the ASEAN free trade agreement. Since there's no domestic car industry in Australia anymore, why are the taxes so high on imported vehicles?
Would make sense but then people wouldn’t buy Rangers from the Ranger Company.
@@TommmmmmmmmmmmThey're the best pickup if they're functional and not in the shop for repairs
I was super disappointed with the base trim level. Here in New Zealand, at $75k with manually adjusted seats, and non powered tailgate. It just cannot compete with other offerings available.
75k?!?!? what are they smoking...
And then ford complain there’s no demand for EVs, when in reality there’s no demand for overpriced and underperforming EVs and plenty for the good offerings
Kia Ora I used to live in nz now I’m in Melbourne
These are mass market cars sold at luxury prices. It’s almost as if all the legacy automakers want to go extinct with their ridiculous pricing compared to BYD, MG, etc.
Glad you picked up on the A/C Compressor vibration, road tested the GT awhile ago and thought the NVH engineers must've been on holidays when the compressor mounting was designed.
I think the price is seriously delusional. IONIQ 5 N at the price is the better choice
Delusional is also 5 pricing ~~
Any EV is delusional..
Didn't you see the battery costs on that thing
Another wicked review, thank you 🙏
Aircon vibration - heat in cabin is not helped by glass roof with no inside cover.
Is the infotainment slowness fixed with the new software updates that the Ranger has received?
Paul , I wanted to ask you about this car. I now have more than one reason to not opt this car.
Thank you so much for taking the time to review this car, You saved $$$
I do really love the styling on this and I'm a fan of the concept in general. But that pricing needs work, especially at the entry level.
If it's anything like my Model 3 LR it does reduce flatout outputs at lower battery levels, not to the extent of costing anything like 2 seconds on 0-100 times but maybe Ford are super conservative.
like the design, but the BYD seal performance at 70k is a waay better value proposition
But BYD is Chinese rubbish
@@kurt9055actually go and drive one, it’s anyone’s loss if they seriously think Americans are better than the Chinese at designing EVs apart from Tesla that forces a bunch of non user friendly choices on the driver.
Well it gets to 100km/h in 3.8 seconds, is stylish in its own right being a proper sedan and not a crossover and the interior quality is great. People can ignore it at their peril if they think a Ford badge or a crossover design means anything.
The batteries catch on fire.
Hi Paul,
Little off topic but I know u have done heaps of work with utes
Is it worth it do get a Dmax 2024 model or do u believe this year or next year a new Dmax will come out with a full new body ?
Untamed plus reduces power. You should do your 0-100 tests in standard untame. Also with a higher battery charge level.
Always love your reviews. Might need more charge in the battery to get the better 0 to 100 time like 90% and do it on a cooler day. Are there any Ford badges on it?
If you need cooler days and a higher percentage of charge to get better "bang" from a vehicle, it is already a fail IMO.
Paul, I must commend the impeccable design! Now, could you please enlighten us on the number of airbags snugly nestled within any impressive car under the safely section?
The standard range RWD has an LFP battery.
Not far off Model Y RWD money, has a more standard equipment over the Tesla. Doesn’t look terrible reading off the spec sheet.
Maybe a comparison between MY RWD and Mach E RWD SR is needed?
Do we get the phone as key function Paul or have they done away with for our market?
Pls do a peugeot 3008 review btw your The best car reviewer and you shall keep up the good work
I really dont like those big almost free-standing monitors so many EVs have. I'd much prefer something smaller and integrated into the dash.
There are other brands that are more integrated e.g. Kia/Hyundai/Genesis.
Would the issues you discribed with the interior be from swapping to right hand drive? I've noticed with Ram and the F150 conversions there are issues
Possibly, but these are factory built RHD. I suppose it's just a fine example of being built Ford tough ...
Wouldn’t surprise if they converted LHD Mach-Es to RHD since they’re not selling very well in America
These ones come from the factory in Mexico in right-hand drive.
I think it has a short ‘final drive’ or whatever for an electric car. It struggles to get to 200 kph and it’s go no lack or torque so I’m confused why it’s like that
Paul what would be your no1 pick for a electric car
Love your channel bro, also has anyone noticed Paul looks a bit like Seth Macfarlane? always thought he looked familiar lol
How much is it to replace the battery? And what is the depreciation after 12 months?
Love how honest your reviews are mate! Car seems very average…
The GT tends to heat throttle quite a lot, you can see the limited power at the power/recup bar where it will fill out the top end of te power with little bars when limiting. (It already starts doing that after 5 seconds of full power, which makes the GT really disappointing).
Untamed plus is also not the mode with the fastest acceleration, it in fact limits the peek power to avoid above mentioned heat throttling and give a more consistent drive for a longer time.
In my opinion the extended range RWD or AWD offer a better experience than the GT, still a bit on the expensive side though. But then it's not really a mustang, but rather a decent ford electric cross-over.
Can't use your phone while driving, but can use a screen the size of a small continent
Exactly
What’s the name of the color? Wish you would’ve added that to the description lol
Explains why these are piling up at dealerships in the US and they are struggling to sell these. Probably will happen here too so for anyone who is willing to wait and go in hard with negotiations, can probably get a better deal.
They are the second biggest seller in the US do not sure where your getting that
@@paulp4342 They were back in 2022 in the US. In 2023 the Mach E is behind Chevy Bolt and Rivian but is slightly ahead of VW ID4. It still is doing fine though but there are articles saying Ford has reduced production capacity for this car.
@@olinsorheim 2022 is when they first came out. Last year was 2023 mate. Different figures
@@olinsorheim Ford Mustang Mach-E sales bounce back, becoming 2nd best-selling EV SUV behind Tesla's Model Y. Sales of Ford's Mustang Mach-E bounced back in August, rising 61% from last year. The Mach-E became the second-best-selling electric SUV in the US, behind Tesla's Model Y.
@@paulp4342 No I wasn't confused, I'm aware last year was 2023. I got the info from a Car and Driver US article from just this week regarding Top EV Sales in 2023. It said Mach E was not the second best selling EV nor EV SUV overall in the USA for 2023.
I'm curious, you can get this and the ICE Mustang in factory RHD, not the F-150 though. Surely that has a better total addressable market than the Mustangs? This car doesn't appear to live up to the hype
100%👌
Maybe battery run down on the 0-100 ?
Maybe it needs 100% charge to do that time
On performance how much battery you had because I saw u was testing at 34 percent
It’s like a rc car full battery get more power that all electric car
Not a chance it’s worth $100k 😮
I wouldn't pay $20k for this POS
Does this brake on its own in tunnels like Tesla?
It would be great to see a Raptor version of this Mustang Mach-E. There needs to be another Raptor that is not an impractical ute. The traditional Mustang as a Raptor would be super fun with great handling but this 4 door Mach-E Mustang would be a much more practical Raptor that still has great handling. The Everest could be made into a Raptor too but such a tall vehicle means the off road performance aspect won't be as fun and doesn't embrace what the Porsche 911 Dakar and Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato bring to the market. This Mach-E Mustang as a Raptor (even more than the standard Mustang) might look a bit similar to some of the rally raid competition cars like the Prodrive Hunter, Peugeot 2008 DKR, etc.
As for the slow responsiveness of the screen, they've taken a leaf out of Land Rover's book. Land Rover are famous for having the slowest units on the planet, whereas the older infotainment system in the earlier Mustangs was very fast.
Are you going to review the new Sonata? Bring back the sedan......
I think the quirky locking system will be a pain in the arse for people who have two different cars at home. Why don't they stick with the standard way of opening a door?
A review of the new Suzuki jimny xl plz
We need large roomy cars where adults can sit comfortably in the back seats since kids dont move out of home these days
That's what i told @Ford when u gave them the idea to make the Mustang a 4 door hatchback. "Dads want sporty but practical aswell"
@@brad741 hilarious 😂
That infotainment lag is a surprise.
So it’s basically crap and Paul was just trying to be nice .. there is a reason why they are not selling .. probably need to drop the GT to $80k and entry level to $60k.. then again it’s just crap
first thing I noticed was the 189km range at 59%? WTAF??? that is dreadful!
And that is now when its new, wait until its 5 years old with 80,000kms on it. These electric cars are a complete disaster.

Looks like an overgrown ford focus, an insult to my 67 mustang fastback
It's funny you mention the Ford focus, i have that as a reference for them to make the Mustang a hatchback. Told them focus was lowest selling hatchback in market compared to Subaru and others. It was my idea to make Mustang 4 door hatchback in 2017

There are things you can buy that you wear to help keep the flys off of you.
The only suv i would buy. Finally a suv without a flat back!
A whiteboard for a centre screen 😂
I know right, it looks so stupid!
boy, there sure are a lot of flies in Ausi.
As a BYD Seal Performance owner.Nothing to say.
Hopefully you are well trained in fire suppression, or have the local Firefighters on speed dial. Don’t park that thing near your house.
@@rsoul7282 You haven’t done you research, check out LFP batteries, which are used in both cars.Your ignorant response would indicate you wouldn’t be interested.
@@rsoul7282 same with anyone who has an ICE car.
One car caught on fire at the Hyundai N festival. They had the ioniq 5N there.
It was an i30 that burned.
That, and when you look at the percentage of cars that catch on fire way more than EV.
Go figure.
You wont get 490ks out of the charge no way and the ford claimed 0-100 of like 4.7sec is from a rolling start however that works. 5.5ish is about right or slower.
Jeeze that gauge cluster trim looked so loose. How can such an expensive car screw up something so simple when a budget corolla doesn't...
Wow. Very disappointing for the money. Mind you the real Mustang still only has a 3 star safety rating so the name in general is going through a bad phase.
Don’t think this will sell in Australia.
The more of this review I watched, the less inclined I was to waste my time watching the rest of it (but waste my time I did).
To say that Ford half-arsed this car would be an understatement. What I find hard to understand is the total lack of comment on all the rattles and thuds clearly heard throughout this video.
Maybe the rattles were the loose bits of dashboard, which might be excusable after a couple of hundred thousand Kilometres, but on a press car with less distance travelled than an owner would reasonably do in the first month, unforgivable.
Maybe it was the inevitable 'Lemon' edition. Hopefully the 'lower spec' model will do better... couldn't do much worse (I hope).
Have to come to South Africa & Territory also a Ford Figo based halfton bakkie should be named Ford Rambo 👂
It was either turn it into a controversial marketing exercise or push out yet another anonymous blob on the car market. They did the lesser of two evils, IMO
On the back straight it was just giving you the correct torque curve for whatever engine it was trying to sound like ;) lol
Maybe if it made V8 sounds it would go faster 😂😂
apparently the infotainment is by microsoft
Was the performance time affected by a software restriction due to the 36% battery level?
This seems like an average but expensive nothing burger of an EV.
at that price as a wise man once said "tell em his dreaming"
Another excellent review but only got halfway through, just not a compelling vehicle in any way.
For such a great looking vehicle, that loose trim, long loading times for central screen and vibrating chassis due to the A/C compressor would be enough to send me into the Hyundai dealership..
How many people are going to hammer the thing like you? not many I think!
Not a mustang, which could have been forgiven if it was a decent car, but it just seems a bit half baked.
My Tesla M3 with boost is so much quicker just standing on the throttle rather than putting foot on brake and releasing brake.
Dont those Mach E's only have a few seconds on full power then drops down to a significantly reduced level of power?
Hud is a must for me and I see none
Looks like a below average quality car. But people in Australia has too much money so it’ll be sold in high numbers.
I’m really glad Paul reviewed this car as a car without environment saving EV BS.
Who in their right mind would buy this over the other options
It did go in reverse quickly which is what owning a ford is all about😅
Good review. Car needs work!
That car is a 4 letter word that starts with S ends in T and it's not soot.
Oh boy, ANOTHER "sportsback" Electric SUV. When they called it a Mustang, I was hoping it would at LEAST be a sedan. Silly me, hoping too hard.
I like the look, but far too expensive and then there is always the issue of how good EV’s are actually to the environment
I agree on the looks and price but more so to the 2nd part of your comment is something that EV owners either don't understand or really just don't want to discuss 🤔
Also the issues of battery warranty and replacement
Reverse drag race could be best race 😂
How can such an expensive car have such a slow infotainment system when phones from 8+ years ago could still run smooth. Just terrible optimizationsmoothly and software.
Wow $100k !!?? 😳
Exactly, WTF
Made in Mexico to i believe
Perhaps the naming was the biggest mistake, the car is okayish
😂 yeah mustang and I’m superman.
It's a Ford...
My 2019 Camry trans needed replacing at 26k on the OD. It's a Toyota.
So, crap rear toe room and if you raise the front seat it only/mostly raises the rear of the seat squab so it feels like your going to slide forward off it? That's enough to put me off.
How often do you sit in the back seat of your own vehicle?
@brad741 Dickhead, I don't but my friends and family do, should I not care about them or the resulting uncomfortable driving position when I try to make them more comfortable?
Seriously the designers and engineers are getting lazy of integrating the infotainment in the dash. 🤣
Yep, definitely one car I wouldn't consider purchasing. Particularly for that price...
Looks like Ford have tried to throw the kitchen sink at this, leverage off the Mustang brand and charge a premium but it’s appears so unfinished and I reckon this will have some annoying gremlins to deal with for owners, made in Mexico does not install confidence inspiring ownership, let’s be honest you would have to to be keen and brave to drop $100k.
That centre screen is terrible looking. It really might as well be a large iPad in a stick on holder it's so badly integrated into the interior design..
🤔Imagine trying to get a 0-60(100kph)….
at 36% percent battery…
And then say "It’s nowhere near the claimed" 🥴
I don't think this guy is qualified to do speed tests. Not educated enough on the technology
Ford have lost their way. If they could steal the Formentor body from Cupra and reboot the Cortina I might be interested. Maybe the Ford Explorer might be a decent EV
Hey Paul, you are a professional car reviewer, so why your comments on your brakes tests sound so wrong? When you are testing braking distance, all you are testing is A) Braking performance of the TYRES fitted to the car, not the brakes and B) vehicle mass. That braking distance has absolutely nothing to do with "how good the brakes are". Even the cheapest brakes could completely lock all wheels with no problem whatsoever ( which is why we have ABS system on ALL cars). You did mention Ferraris and Lamborghinis. Yes, those cars do have high performance brakes. But again, that has absolutely nothing to do with those brakes performance in A SINGLE test like you do. Brakes taken out from Toyota Corolla and put on those cars would get same results. They are high performance brakes because their performance does not decrease after frequent hard braking over long time like you have in car racing scenarios. In other words, they don't "fade away" once they start getting affected by extremely high temps from all the friction. And you are NOT testing for those scenarios( as it would be a lot more difficult and time consuming) AND normal people never drive like that anyway.
Yes that’s a good point. We’ll change the wording. All we’re really looking for is stopping distance from 100km/h.
Bad car 😅😅....i love italian, german, UK, and japanese cars ❤❤
Take mustang style cues and even take the mach name I get those. No issues there. But to call it a mustang. Is so wrong. They called it that purely to market it with the mustangs iconic global name and long history. Call it the mach E and no one would be annoyed.
0-60 speed tests are very close to 5.0 GT gas model. Has same design cues. Whats your problem?
So you’re telling me Ford saw the disaster that was Holden naming a 4 cylinder, FWD, Opel Insignia as a Commodore and decided to do it themselves with the Mustang?
This is merely an expensive gimmick much like the $70,000 at launch, 250km range Mazda MX-30 Electric. The Chinese are dominating the EV market and way ahead of the rest of the world in EV tech.
Like Ford US when naming this gave a flying fuck about the Commodore/insignia saga in Australia - bet none of the people involved in the US had even heard about it let alone care.
Chucking out millions of throwaway models that very few people want, and have very little backup isn’t dominating the market. Chinese manufacturers are losing money on every single vehicle they make, they are only able to exist because of government subsidies, and this business model will crash like their property market when Winnie the Pooh changes his mind, which happens regularly.
@@rsoul7282 “Very few people want” - I’d say the sales figures disagree. 193,433 Chinese made cars were sold in 2023 (3rd place compared to Japan’s 345,071 & Thailand’s 264,253) Almost all EV models use batteries sourced from China, including the Mach-E’s LFP battery (and the future Ford F150 Lightning) coming from CATL in China. In the last 5 years, China-made cars went from 1.68% of the market to 15.9%.
Many governments support their automotive industry; we did too when ours was still around.
@@MecTecher to clarify, I am referring to the bulk of the earlier generations of Chinese EVs that often didn’t get accepted by the public in China itself and are currently getting scrapped in large numbers. Chinese consumers aren’t fools, they are going to want the best product they can get, like all right minded people, but a lot of Chinese start up manufacturers incentivised by government subsidies pumped out shed loads of substandard vehicles.
Just call it Escape E
Would never go electric
Someone with their hand screwed on
People misunderstand the mustang branding (i could be wrong but here's my hot take). Ford used the design language of the modern mustang to design a dope af looking mini cross-over that is electric. They did NOT try to pretend this vehicle is like, the new muscle car and is as cool or fast or tough as a Shelby. I think borrowing the mustang brand was a cleaner marketing choice than to invent some letter and number-heavy codename for ford's new electric offering. It's not as deep or serious as people make it, it does not dilute the mustang name and i think it accurately describes the culture of the electric car enough that the branding is appropriate. ok thank you
they've had a mare
Yeah, you're wrong.
I gave @Ford the idea to make the Mustang a 4 door hatchback in 2017. I have receipts. I like your take on it though, fairly accurate but too over thought on some things 👍
Looks like even with the recent discounts, they're still overpriced.
who's going to spend $100k to buy this car with such build quality and material? For a EV, you can easily buy a BYD seal which looks much better than this car (even with faster 0-100 acceleration), and if you are able to spend extra $5k or $10k, you could have a Mercedes GLC 300, much more luxurious...
For this Money you can almost get an Ioniq 5 N
If Musk holds true his 50% price cut by June 2024 then a Model Y top spec will be under $60k, that's why Ford dropped the price.
Far too expensive. Personally I like the look. Not sure using the mustang name is going to help compete against Tesla and BYD.
