Grat tips.. I love the first tip.. Do something..
It doesn't matter how much knowledge you have.. But it is matter how you work
Thanks a lot
I watched this video for 2 or 3 times now. You are inspiring to me. Long story short I an a wood worker and love it so much. But my Dad was in an accident and passed away 4 years ago and my grief with maybe some depression has put my tools at rest for the last 4 years for my dad is the one who really got me into it working in his shop. But today I am going into my shop to give it a much needed cleaning and organizing and bring my tools out of grief. Sorry my comment is so long and thanks for your channel. I have watched all your videos and hope to see some new content soon. Once again thanks for your inspiration.
Jeff Krug Thank you so much for sharing this! I am really glad to hear that you have found some sort of inspiration from this video! Good luck on all of your future builds!
Pursue your dreams! I am retired and turned 68 last week. Always wanted to do woodworking -- should have started years ago
I am 71 years old I started woodworking 5 years ago without experience and I made 24 cutting boards and some of which are 3D, I love it, I made two or three Mistakes which cost me $15 to 20 but no accidents, and I, and my family really happy. You are doing fine young man. God Bless you.
Watched your 2 pt workbench vid and saw your fondness for big, like you can make anything, and then you made something big, practical and beautiful. You impressed upon me your I can do it my way, anyway that suits me. Then saw your 3 tips with bonus. You inspire me. Not that I haven't heard some of your words before in my 59 yrs, but hearing from you after seeing your skill on display gives me thought and motivation in my new hobby. Thanks. Keep posting and I'll keep watching.
I've spent many decades collecting tools that I thought I needed to make projects with. Now I realize that developing my skills with the hand tools I already had would have enabled me to make some nice stuff without waiting to be able to buy the planer, the jointer, the routers. And now that I have all that stuff, I"m having a rough time dealing with the dust made by all the power tools and need to use my hand tools more and more. Are, you are right on the money, use what you have to make what you can. Express your creativity. Don't put it off til you can buy that new tool.
I think this is just what I needed to hear. Thanks!
Very sound advice - I have learned more from all my mistakes than from any book! Trying something is self-teaching. Even when you fail, you gain more confidence - you learn it is ok to fail. Great video Are - thanks for sharing this with other 'learners'.
Great advice kid. I'd imagine that it took a significant amount of courage to be open and honest about your life choice to become a woodworker. Keep going, do good work, inspire others, and thank you for sharing. Success can only be defined by YOU.
Brother thank you, I truly believe in what you say. Everything you brought up I had already experienced. Plus your positive feedback is great. Are, please keep making videos and wood projects. The world needs more makers and less doubters.
Great Advise...As a long time metal fabricator, I am expanding into the wood working field (primarily wood carving). By implementing your advice each day I am really starting to have Fun while leaning all the little nuances to carving and art as well as saving and purchasing new equipment. Thank you
Great advice. I'm a hobby turner and have made every mistake in the book including breaking my wrist when a piece flew off.
I'm in retirement now but if I was your age I would aim to be a master furniture maker and build my own business. Your attitude tells me your destined for success.
Thank you very much!
Down to earth, realistic advice that's full of wisdom. I am in no doubt that you'll be very successful because of your great attitude.
I'm agree 100% with your tip, go forward my friend....! God bless you....! Blessing is the ability of God in you to be prospered !!!
Me again. I am 60 years old . I discovered your videos by chance and listening to you now has lifted my spirit and re-enforced some things that I have learnt in life the hard way. I think it is great that a young person like yourself knows these guidelines now rather than later. Your 'tips' apply not only to woodworking.
Your words speak wisdom that it takes most of us until we are old men to learn. Keep on working, learning and growing. I wish you well!
You are a very wise young man. Thanks for the advice/tips/reminders.
Juliet Phillips Thank you!
man... you made me to say this in a good way... the first wood working I did in last month started making a roubo type work bench and later I was thinking I didn't even cut a piece of wood for practice but straight started working on the work table... it didn't come as I was expected but I loved it and loved working on it... and my next project is going to be home made sofa set that I am collecting ideas... I have learned many things from your videos specially joints... I laugh at my own that not a single test cut but straight to the table top... hahah
Great tips Are!
I think you could summarize a fail as a bunch of great ideas assembled improperly.
Take what you learned and apply them in another way.
Great tips,
It reminds me of an old master carpenter friend, who said to me, I cant teach you how to do the thing, but I can show you how I did it, and you will learn how to adapt it to your way.
All good common sense tips there, mate 👍
One more good tip for beginners, you don't need brand new tools, nothing at all wrong with secondhand, and easier on the budget.
Once you get better and are more confident, then start upgrading.
Bill Carroll sometimes you can get amazing second hand tools from someone retiring from the trade
Thanks for the good advice; just wanted to comment on making cutting boards; in my humble opinion I think that cutting board making is a great place to start because it teaches one how to make beautiful tops; this will then translate into making beautiful table tops because there is a definite art to proper Glue-ups that I've noticed alot of people take for granted ya know
I subscribed after this bro. You reached right into the heart of my present situation. very encouraging video bro.
theriphraff That is great to hear!! Thank you!
Are Baloni thank you bro. Keep the inspiring vids coming
100% agree. Really enjoy your videos.
That bonus tip was and I guess still is my biggest excuse....thanks for pointing that out...
Great advice! Learn by doing and start out small (and cheap).
Thank you for this! About to begin a workshop and I really need this.
Brilliant piece of advice. You appear very young and long way to go. I am sure you would be one of the top creators in woodworking soon. God bless.
Bakthavathsal Kadambi Thank you very much! 😊
Love the tips and your encouraging words. It has been really fun and inspiring to watch your journey and progression as a woodworker!
Thank you, Jared! I am just getting started!
Love it! Tip #1 is my favorite by far and #2 goes hand in hand with #1
Uplifting my man! I needed this video. I’ve been in this funk won’t my wood working adventure and I haven’t been making anything. I haven’t even been thinking about making anything. Your tips are great to hear. It’s like you know these things but it’s helps hearing it from a person like yourself. Keep it up brother bear....I’m gonna go woodwork now!😄✌🏼

Great advice man!! Your videos are awesome keep them up!
That´s great! Thank you :)
Great Tips, and great positive attitude. Enjoying your channel, keep content coming
Good tips. I'm a big fan of the bonus tip. I hate buying new tools with a passion. I have a pretty good kit already and anything I buy will probably be something to deskill the task which prevents learning and creative problem solving.
Thanks a lot!!!!
Great content. Thank You very much for that words. Maybe You can tell more about tools that You start with?
Great tips and a serious good attitude. You will be a great woodworker some day and of that I have no doubt.
Bear utube Thank you!!
Very motivational, even if you've surpassed the level of beginner. I think you'll one day reach your goals because of the way you think (and work). Keep it up!! By the way this reminded me of a speech from Arnold Schwarzenegger, the 6 rules of success, it's a tip if you haven't seen it already!
1dutchmf Thank you! No, I haven't seen that. I'll check it out! Thanks 😊
wise words and always remember with every Project you getting better and better keep on going Are go your way I'm looking forward to see your upcoming Projects
greetings from canada
Andy Thank you very much! 😊
Its just my opinion but before you even touched a tool or took the wood off your wood rack you have already proven YOURSELF and not this certain family member. Its your dream and no one elses and only you know your heart and when are dreams fill our heart then we shall succeed. And as you said we succeed by doing and trying not listening to others. My hats off to you and live your dream.
Jeff Krug Thanks, Jeff!
The wisdom in this video is of somebody many times your age. You’re going to do do well.
TeeKay Pew Thank you!
Great video Are and very sound advice! You are sharing some great thoughts to anyone contemplating a start in woodworking. Woodworking can be a journey through life...a very wonderful one at that. You were brave to make the decision to go into woodworking as a profession/business and I believe you will do very well. We need more young people like you with the passion to take up woodworking. There are many of us mature woodworkers looking to share and pass down our knowledge much as you did in this video. Keep up the great videos and sharing of your experiences.
The background is beautiful...is it a lake or a fjord? I think we have finally come out of winter and into spring where I am located...and now we look for summer.
Tony Baleno Thank you so much, Tony! Yes, it is a fjord, a 5 minutes walk from my shop! Yes, finally! Here in Norway, We are actually hacking the highest temperature in all of Europe! It's crazy!
Are...what a scenic view...and so close to your shop...perfect! Norway has got to have some of the most scenic sites around. If you are having highest temperatures in all of Europe that is amazing. After coming out of one of the longest and coldest winters we have had in a long time it's nice to have temperatures in the low 80sF. I am in an area that is 43+ degree north compared to Norway's 58+ degrees north. Quite a difference...enjoy the warmth!
That‘it!
looking forward to your next project, do you work in wood all the time now, is it your main job?
great video's, love your accent, where you from?
Tony b Thanks! I'm from southern Norway! 🇳🇴
By the way your beginner woodworking guide link isn't working.
