This is quality stuff right here. This is what we young guys need to see. Right now I'm sitting in front of a machine with a laser tool setter and probe that I can't use because I don't know how to program either one. This is gonna help me a lot, I think.

Thank you, thought I would give a little trailer of what I have been up to. Still a bit away though. I'm thinking June ish you should start seeing them roll out.

Neither can I! Still waiting on the OMM, that is ordered and payed for. And it looks like I will be making my own version for the MI12 and MI8-4 boxes, none currently available for what I think they are worth.

Hell yes!! I have been wanting to do this on my Fadal. Your videos have been a great resource!

Thanks Kyle, I bought the probe to help increase accuracy. The tool setter will greatly decrease my setup times on more complex jobs.

Yep, we had a little fire at the plant and haven't had much free time. There is a Colchester manual lathe for sale at Ritchie Brothers in Montreal that you could get real cheap U.S. dollar and all.

So am I, I can't wait to get this installed at running!

I have an old pneumatic LNS bar feeder with a bad PLC that are obsolete. I am toying with the idea of replacing it with a Allen bradley micro820 PLC and designing my own control. Should be a good project.

Clinton, I have used AB, they make really good stuff, however pricey. You also need there software tool chain. If you have all that awesome! The same can be said about me using NI stuff in my machine, LOL. If you don't have that stuff check out these PLC's. I have used these as well, lower price point and the software is much cheaper. I put one in my car and it ran for over 10 years and still runs today. www.automationdirect.com/adc/Shopping/Catalog/Programmable_Controllers/DirectLogic_Series_PLCs_(Micro_to_Small,_Brick_-a-_Modular)

Yes I already have the micro820 and it was free. I may need to get an addition input/output module for it but they don't seem to expensive. I do also have the software to program it but haven't played with it much yet. I have had this for awhile but haven't had a use for it until now. I am going to try a few more things to get the old PLC in the bar feeder going if I can. Still the easier solution at this point. Thanks for the link, I have ordered from automation direct before, but haven't looked at their PLC's much.

Thank you Stephen, Yes, I have the probe and tool setter. I bought an OMM but it has not come yet, hoping it does. The MI12 and MI8-4 boxes are pricey for what they actually do. I already have an FPGA in my machine that can decode the OMM and read the TS27R. So why spend yet another $300-$500 total when I can just use that? If the OMM does not come I will make my own OMM as well. Those run another $500 used on average. I already was able to turn the probe on and then read the data on a scope, the rest is cake.

I knew someone was going to go there. My other thought was a clip from South Park, but I'm still very cautious of that whole copyright thing.
