- Today we're checking out #ridekanuga for the first time, and it's a great weekend to be here. It's their End Of Summer Jam, and there is a lot going on.
As the thumbnail for this episode suggest, I did two things this weekend I honestly never imagined I would do, but you'll have to kick back and watch to see what exactly those two things are.
I've you've been considering checking out Ride Kanuga, I only have one piece of advice. Get on over there ASAP!
The energy and atmosphere is great and the trails are incredibly well built and maintained. I haven't ridden anything else like it in the region.

It's where I just learned to jumpđ€đ€
Awesome riding with ya over the weekend! Great job on the progression !
Such a blast, my man! Let's get out and shred more.
Just subbed to ya @mtb frequent flyer..keep up the great videos..you're a shredder..I live in avl if ya ever wanna shred..đ€đ€
That was a great video. I was setup as a vendor for this awesome event.
That's awesome, Mark! Glad you enjoyed this one.
Hell yeah, looks like so much fun! Going to try to get a trip in before winter.
Well worth it! I've been back a few times already and it never gets old.
I want to give this about a thousand more thumbs up! đ
So sick, homie! Once again, semi-sendy is going full-sendy!
.... also, me needs that decoy.
Such a good time shredding, homie!
Looks like an amazing time, adding Kanuga to the wishlist.
Absolutely one for the list. You'll love it.
Kanuga was My first bike park experience. I liked it, but the steep face on the jumps messed Me up! The green trail was the one that gave Me the most trouble! Those little short tables with steep faces made Me think I was going over the bars!
Hey Randall! Lips on jumps can be really tough to learn and understand. It gives everyone trouble, so you're not alone! The biggest issue for us when learning jumps, especially lipped jumps, is body positioning and timing. The natural tendency when getting bucked on jumps is to want to move the body position further back on the back on the bike to counter it, but that actually is what makes it worse. The second big thing is loading the bike/suspension evenly and timing the rebounding of the bike suspension properly. There's some great videos out there that have helped me a lot with understanding this. Fluidride and GMBN have some good ones here on CZcams! Here's a Fluidride one: czcams.com/video/-oRjHKD8Sbk/video.html
I know you weren't asking for advice, so excuse my assumption on that end. I just know exactly how you felt out there and hoped I could offer a touch of help on the subject. Cheers!
Great video, super useful info, I'm going up there this weekend!
Heck yeah, youâre going to have a blast. I canât get enough of that place.
Great job on the vid and jumps.
I havent had a chance to get out there yet and am stoked to go!
Thanks, Pedaling Dave! Get out there and giveâr all youâve got! Smiles for days. đ€
Awesome video! Cant wait to go there
Thanks, Shannon! Youâll have a blast đ€
@@SemiSendy I rode with Cody today at white oak and we were talking about you and this channel. Had a blast!
I envy your editing skills man. Awesome work bro. You're killing it!
Heâs a wizard đ§ââïž
Thanks my man! It was good to finally get a chance to meet you. Psyched to hit Raccoon with you next weekend.
Well, If I didn't want to ride this park already I do now, Awesome work on the video
Heck yeah, David. I can't wait to get back there.
Great video, this was a lot of fun to watch!
Thanks, BlindstuffMTB! I think I've actually seen everyone of your episodes on your channel. Long time fan.
@@SemiSendy awww, Stefano is a great guy. Just don't go to Pisgah with him. You'll end up in the worst thunderstorm of your LIFE! Haha
Rad video dude!! I love the story telling. I'd love to do some jump and turn work with you my man!
Heck yeah, I need HALP! haha.
Awesome progression man, hard work pays off. Really wish we had some progression lines like this in Chatt to work up to the confidence levels. WOM is great in all but doesnt leave you much room for resetting and learning.
I do too. WOM can be a fickle beast too. That kitty litter loose over hard bites sometimes. Definitely working towards that direction in Chatt, and I am extremely grateful for all the work thatâs been done so far and super excited to see where the new SORBA board things đ€đŒ
Saw that guy Hunter my first weekend at Kanuga (beginning of Aug) and he was getting steezy. Saw him again this past weekend there.
He's a great guy, and can throw down! :)
Nice vid mate, some good skill keep it up
Thanks, DavMTB5. We'll keep at it!
Great video bro đȘđ»đ€đ»
Thank you, mate! đ»
YESSSSS this is quality contentttttttt
Awesome, glad you're digging it Anton!
@@SemiSendy i love seeing small channels like this grow, and i love following that journey
@@antonclarke3433 I'm truly grateful that folks like you are along for the journey.
Just bought me a dirt jumper Iâm ready to try some jumps like this senddddd it
Yeah bud! đ€
I was just at Kanuga this morning! I wanted to try the e-bike but my son was ridiculing me đ
He probably just didnât want to get lapped by Dad! Tell him youâll rent him one too, LOL. đ
That experience definitely opened my eyes to the possibilities that ebikes can offer. I was honestly still pretty reluctant about the idea before hand. I was told time and time again to try to reserve judgment until I had given one a try and I can certainly see why.
@@SemiSendy Yeah I know that I would have been able to stay longer had I used the e bike, just not in the same shape as I was 20 years ago. That said what would really be nice is a ski lift. Not sure if thatâs in the long term plans or not. Did riding one feel a lot heavier on jumps?
what santa cruz is that looks like a hightower? the blue one at the start
That is the HTv2! Sheâs still in my stable, coming up on two years now.
How long does it take to walk or pedal to the top? I'm thinking about planning a trip here. Also, those jumps look so forgiving... Do you think someone with low jumping skill could hit those? :-D
Thatâs a tough one to answer only because itâs very subjective. Iâd say if your comfortable on tabletops in the 8â range the opening sequence on Tortuga should feel really good. The step up isnât hard and it is really forgiving to case, just requires speed to clear. Itâs maybe 25âish to clear, but you could go only a few feet or even roll it no issues.
Tortuga is a lower session line, so itâs only about a 5 minute climb from the bottom. All the way up is 20min conservatively.
25-30 minutes if your not in the best shape, like me đ
Sick thumbnail. @cmftmtb
Collin Taplin are you the guy in the pic? I wasnât sure how to find you so I tagged Kolo in the whipoff/slalom video I posted on insta that this still is taken from. đ€đŒ
How far from chattanooga is it ? Im planing on moving in a few months
Kanuga is right around 4 hours from Chattanooga. Pisgah, Kanuga, DuPont and the Riveter are all right there. Sethâs new Berm Park should be up and running just down the road from there sometime in 2021.
Weâve got great things happening in Chattanooga too! Iâve been hard at work helping out with an awesome new public gravity park on Signal mountain, which will be known as Waldenâs Ridge Park.
Howâd you like the Decoy? I have a Decoy Shred on order.
It was nice. Is the shred the mullet version? Thatâs what I demoâd
Semi-Sendy yea, mullet with the 38 and coil shock.
John Corbett nice. Sounds like the most ideal build for sure. Maximum downhill fun đ€
Semi-Sendy another great vid btwđđ»
John Corbett thank you kindly!
I need to learn to jumpđ
Iâll admit itâs kinda fun floating through the air. Worth learning for sure!
That guy skidding in front of you is messing up the trails đ
