Such a timely video for me. After my latest trip to Rocky Knob, I'm looking at enduro and higher travel trail bikes quite longingly. Thanks for your perspective!
Totally appreciate your honest review!
Thanks for the review.
Nice vid, just ordered mine!
Such a sweet ride! My Release 4c is still going strong after 2 1/2 years. Yours gets sandblasted in the Arizona terrain!
I picked up this exact bike a month ago...due to some crappy weather and a busy work schedule I’ve only got three rides on it so far but I love this bike.. my first full suspension.
I was considering this bike a few months ago. Nice review. Good to see that Ibis lives up to their reputation for quality. But of course, like you said nothing is perfect.
It’s still a GREAT bike
@@themiddleagemasher8108 man I believe it. I still want one!
They do come with, sometimes in request with the bash guard/ guide mount.
True. And mine did as well but I’ve never had luck with a guard held on by a bottom bracket part. I just like the welded tabs better
Nice bike! I wouldn't mind trying the Ripmo AF with a coil shock. I've ridden an older Ripmo carbon. I have an HD5 that I really like. That water bottle placement is interesting. Glad it works. The cables do seem to be in the way below. I use a Fidlock water bottle on my HD5, but I have different cable routing than you. I also have Cushcore, which I like. Especially with the rocky terrain in Utah. I'm jealous of your wheels. I have the stock aluminum wheels and they are getting banged up.
Great review. Thank you. I’m thinking about selling my SB130 LR and getting this exact bike.
The lunch ride is amazing 🤩. Just saying. But I do like my af a ton
@@themiddleagemasher8108 - Are you up for a trade? I bought it June 2020. SB130 Lunchride. Size Large
great review
Thanks. Just being honest
I was really considering buying the Ripmo AF(been riding the same Gary Fisher hard tail since I bought it in 09) but I went with the Transition Sentinel. This being my first duel suspension bike now I am finally hitting bike parks. My wife keeps telling me I need to act my age at 44 but jumping is so much fun.
Right on dude. I’m almost 50 and still send stuff. I used to have a blue Transition Smuggler that I loved. Go back in my videos and take a look a her!!
How does it jump? I would live this bike but it seems like it would feel a bit big and sluggish on the jumps
@@tylerwilliams1242 all in how you set it up if you make it super plush you loose poppy-ness off the lip. Just like any bike.
Tell her age is a state of mind 🤣🤣👑⚡️🔥
I’m 56 about to buy a Ritmo so I can learn to send it better! None of my woman’s friends do what I do and I’m OK with that.
Good review man. Subbed.👌🔥
I got a rear fender 3D printed for that linkage.
I can link the free plans ,just need to get it locally 3D printed.

Enjoy rock free linkage 👍
Dude can you email me that link ? Senditarizona@gmail.com
I do feel the same about the lack of welded ISCG tabs.
I knew I wasn’t alone!!
Hey man, had the same pins and needles in the hands... Try the Ergon GA3.. They look strange but they are a game changer.. 100% gone. The GE1 Evo also work for that if u want a more normal looking grip. I have both and love em..
I ride the same bike and also have noticed the stock Derore brakes aren’t great. (I ride lots of DH) I’m thinking about more stopping power in my future. I also have the carbon bars, can’t agree more they’re great. I moved the bars all the way up with the spacers underneath and it’s a real game changer when hitting drops of more than 5’ and hitting jump lines you should try it. I also had a Fox 36 put on the front for a $100 upgrade and prefer it over the DVO. Less of a pogo effect and much easier to dial in the damper. One other thing I might upgrade is to a coil in the rear, I hear great stuff about the DVO coil! Great video man
So I’m looking at an ibis Ripmo af with the jade x and Fox 36 and your comment caught my attention. It’s been 3 years since this comment.. how has the set up been for you?
@@offdaystv the bikes been great! More of a trail / enduro at this point. Since that 3 year old comment I’ve bought a downhill bike. YT Tues. more suitable. I still ride the Ibis on a regular basis though and can’t imagine my life without it
Thanks for the update video! I’m getting my custom build in a couple of weeks (waiting since early June!) and was wondering if I should spent the $100 for a full protection wrap kit from RideWrap. My local trails have some rocks, but mainly hard packed clay and lots of roots.
I used 3m safety walk tape in clear. It works. I tend to ride the bike. What happens in the Arizona rocks is just adding ‘character’
@@themiddleagemasher8108 thank you!
Yea man do it ,I waited an extra two months for it to arrive in Australia.
So worth it !
@@A.D.D.O.C.D.T thank you! Did you DIY it or get a full custom wrap kit?
Thanks for sharing.
Do you know how much your bike weighs now?
Thanks!
Replace the stock stem, handlebars and Maxxis tires and you're good to go!
I’ve been looking at getting back into mountain biking and was looking at the ripmo af’s. I’m also in the greater Phoenix area. Is there any particular bike shop you recommend that would carry these?
Dude my pivot switchblade had poor linkage protection too. Like you said not that big of a deal but still kinda an oversight
Just picked up my ‘21 today
It’s looking like that is my next bike 😎🤙🏽
I love my Transfer haha
Numbing in hands is a red flag; do not ignore. Things that cause hand/wrist problems: Handlebar is too long, back sweep angle too small, too much body weight on hands caused by poor riding posture, crappy grips (describes most grips). Since you are a grip snob, you should try the SQlab 711Tech/Trail. Do not neglect to measure your hand as SQlab instructs, then choose the right size grip.
If your hands go numb It’s almost certainly a bike fits and riding position problem, you are putting too much pressure leaning forward on your hands and wrists.
thanks ! I figured that one out after a bit as well
Hey, what size of Ripmo are you riding and how tall are you?
Large and 5’10
I have the same bike and ride a med. I’m 5’8”
@@MScibs
Does it feel just right or a bit small?
@@themiddleagemasher8108
Does it feel a little big?
@@darnbrew9796 it’s somewhat of a longer bike but feels just right. Handles rough DH tech but rips through berms and always in control
