- Welcome back to MTB Freeks!! This video was from the opening day at Kanuga Bike Park, and man was it worth the drive! I think this place is right up there with the best parks in the country!!! Kanuga Bike Park is a joint venture between Neko Mulally and Dave LaMond. Kanuga is a brand new, top-of-the-line trail destination founded by world-champion downhill racer, Neko Mulally. With business partner and lifelong rider, investor, and entrepreneur Dave Lamond, an estimated $100,000 has gone into building the park’s development so far, at no cost to Kanuga, a 1,400-acre nonprofit Episcopal retreat center.
Ride Kanuga has 12 downhill-specific trails with a variety of skill levels available by reservation for individuals and teams for practice and competition. An on-site adventure center will offer bike and ebike rentals as well as a place to relax and have a craft brew. A qualified mechanic will be on staff to keep riders rolling. Trail-side cabins and campsites are available as ride-in/ride-out options. Riders may also opt to stay in one of Kanuga’s historic guest cottages or inns, a short one mile ride from the mountain bike trail entrance. The conference center’s 20 miles of hiking trails will be open to riders as well.

-$50.00 for a 1 month adult pass
-$399.00 for an annual adult membership

-$19.00 for a youth 1 day pass
-$29.00 for a youth monthly pass

-$120.00 for a full day E-MTB rental (Trek Rail electric mountain bike)

NICE, i just came back last Tuesday from 4 days at Dupont. Even some of those 'Blue' trails are TOUGH like that rocky entrance to Jim Branch, i walked the rocks then rode the rest and lots of rocky trails at the top that are a nice challenge and make you work for it, i could handle the incline of JB entrance but those rocks unevenly spaced is kind of scary for me, not looking for a broken elbow, etc. Coming down JB is FUN though to improve technical skills, i did that twice

When are you going to ride again
Realistically - how long is it taking to pedal to the top? I was told its about 500' over 1.7 miles which is pretty steep IMO.
It took me about 20 minutes but I am the slowest climber I know it is definitely not steep for the most part it is like climbing at Baker Creek but longer they have some grade reversals so you can keep good speed and then some long semi steep spots but over all its just the gradual grade over the 1.5 - 1.7 miles that gets you not the steepness
It took me about 16 minutes to pedal to the top on the green climbing trail but I'm in pretty decent shape. The fire road climb is geared more for the E-Bikers but I preferred climbing it since it was a little less than a mile but required some hike a bike on two of the steeper parts.

20 min. Max both ways. The gravel rd is steep but the 2 way double track is longer and not as steep.
