Activision has announced the formation of Elsewhere Entertainment, a new studio it says will focus on developing a "narrative-based and genre-defining AAA franchise."
Elsewhere Entertainment, which is based in Warsaw, is Activision's second Polish studio after the Krakow-based Infinity Ward Poland. The studio has been working behind the scenes up until now, and this is its first public unveiling. According to the blog post revealing the new studio, Elsewhere Entertainment's team includes "storytelling experts" who have previously worked on franchises including The Last of Us, Uncharted, The Witcher, Cyberpunk, Destiny, The Division, and Far Cry. It is currently recruiting developers in hopes of creating a "state-of-the-art and next-generation gaming experience," which IGN understands is not a Call of Duty-related project.
Little else is known about Elsewhere Entertainment's first franchise, though the post does mention that the studio hopes to "craft a franchise with an enduring legacy that resonates far beyond games." That would seem to point to a transmedia franchise that will try to replicate the success of The Last of Us and Fallout, or maybe just get its own theme park. - Hry

It might be a licensing thing. Sure they might have bought the company but they were probably still paying a licensing fee to use the name and in order to cut those costs they close down the studio and started their own. This is regulation based on how other companies have made cost cutting measures.
None of their studios are making CoD $. CoD is even declining in sales. They are not shutting them all down. I think there is probably more to these decisions than you are acknowledging. Regardless, it'd be good if ol Phil would communicate something and deliver on it.

Ratchet and Clank has been a shell of its former self as well for years. The reboot and Rift apart were laughable. Crack in time was the last really solid game in the series.

This entire debacle has been quite fascinating to follow. I'm a PC guy, but I do have a Series S I use for Star Trek Online.
its really really simple. They are saving costs there.
1. they trimmed down from several studios as they do not need that many
2. programmers in Poland will be half of the cost of those in Japan, UK or USA.
3. And the region has a good supply of potential employees.
Work on the new game has been underway for some time now, though-this is merely the first public mention of the new studio and whatever it's got cooking-so in all fairness, it's not a case of killing four studios and then immediately setting up another one amongst their rubble. Lol

Uncharted sucks dude. 75% of the game is extremely linear levels with scripted set pieces and cutscenes mixed in with shitty 2 button prompt combat and corny dialogue/humor. It plays like a shitty PG-13 action movie and the combat is so goddamn mundane. Most overrated series on PS. TLoU is better in every aspect

The classic corporate move - Poland is cheap to develop, much much cheaper than the US and Canada. They'll offer Arkane employees - hey we have a studio for you and you'll be paid by polish standards on a remote contract, which saves us a ton of money. Wanna do another Dishonored?

Actual reality: Nintendo has released Princess Peach Showtime, a Mario vs Donkey Kong Remake, and a remake of Paper Mario the Thousand Year Door is less than a week away and more that I probably missed have all dropped this year alone that are first party.
He clearly isn’t checking the news when it comes to Nintendo games for this year as they have had more of a first party lineup this year than Sony and Microsoft combined. I think he wanted to use this as an opportunity to bash on Nintendo in some shape or form.
Nintendo also has a new console coming out soon, so of course the output on Switch is going to slow down and then ramp back up again on the new console later. But like you said it’s still better than the competition so far

Microsoft has been busy hiring X Sony employees not bad Microsoft not bad. I know Sony lost a lot of the crew that made Uncharted 4 and that was devastating to hear that the Uncharted series that I love is with a skeleton crew basically no one's working on a fifth game until Sony decides to hire new staff to work on the next Uncharted.

I think I know why they are opening a new studio in Poland. I don't know what you know about Europe. but I come from the Netherlands, which is one of the richest countries in Europe. Poland is one of the poorest countries in Europe. Many people from Poland work in the Netherlands in construction, cleaning and transport because wages in Poland are so low. in the Netherlands they can earn at least double and often three times as much or more.

You know people forget that many game studios aren’t what they used to be. Like for example many studios we used to know and love that made great games like rare for example aren’t the rare that made games on the n64. They are just a shell of the former company they used to be.

@@Mmachine88 sea of thieves sold 15 million from pc and xbox......steam had 10 million sales from that so just pretty much tells you no one wants an xbox.......no wonder x box games are coming to ps......the x box ain't cutting it☠☠☠☠
