Beautiful old Ford truck, love the 300 six. The upgrades are fantastic, 3 inch exhaust sounds like music. Excellent work, great video.
Y'all need a BUDGET BUILDS stencil made for the Doors!
That would be awsome!
I just thought the exact same thing
That is one of the best sounding 6 cylinders I’ve heard! I really like that truck the wheels are great too!
Whoop whoop!!!
One of the nicest things about working on older vehicles, is having ROOM to work on older vehicles. 1966 Mustang spotted!
That exhaust is well built and sounds OUTSTANDING!
Truck looks awesome sounds great, need one of these 300 6 in my 76 f250 crew cab to replace a very worn out FE 390 v8 thanks for sharing this video
"I like your videos!" Most adorable thing ever.
I’m amazed what you and your dad can accomplish, what about restructuring your battery box looks like it could use it and don’t forget redoing heater hoses, looks good, keep doing what your doing and carry on 👍👍👍😎😎😎
Still my favorite project you’ve done. I absolutely love this truck and glad to see it getting some love
I did a similar upgrade back in the 80s on a 78 F-150. Clifford intake and a pair of full length 3 into one headers. True duals that dumped at the rear axle. The pulling power was amazing in my old 300.
Hi Michael, awesome work!! So glad that Patina is still on the ole Rig!
Great to see some performance mods on the 300. The HD manifold only came on the HD engines that were in the medium duty trucks like the F600. The industrial engines used the standard exhaust manifold. The HD manifold does have a huge outlet but it's still a log style manifold. The 87-97 dual EFI manifolds are basically cast iron shorty headers. They flow much better then the HD manifold. The outlets are a little small on them but with some porting they can be opened up to right around 2". And dual 2" outlets will outflow a single 2.5". But I understand you prefer the looks of the HD manifold.
I just thought I would give you a couple suggestions. The HD exhaust manifold really should have a block off plate for the heat riser. Your original exhaust manifold had a control valve to regulate the heat going to the intake manifold. The part you called "a restriction". That has the bi-metallic spring that closes the valve when the manifold gets to a certain temp. This helps keep the intake from getting too hot and boiling the gas out of the carb. Your HD manifold is a wide open heat riser. This is especially bad with an aluminum intake. It's going to get HOT. There is a very good chance you are going to have a lot a vapor locking/hot start problems.
And also the HD manifold has a shorter heat riser then the standard carb ex. manifold. This lead to poor fitting, miss aligned manifolds and possible exhaust leaks and even broken intake manifold mounting ears. I don't remember the exact amount of height difference. I think it is around 1/8". The HD intake manifold had more of a drop down on the bottom where the two manifolds bolted together. But this works out because you can take a piece of 1/8" steel plate and make a block off plate to put between the manifolds.
Also you might want to invest in a heatshield for the starter.
Agreed!
Even better than a starter heatshield is swapping in a PMGR starter with a shield.
@@mwilliamshs I've had good luck with DEI starter heat shields. They just wrap around and velcro in place.
The newer style gear reduction starters are a great upgrade on any older engine.
The hose fittings on the offy intake are for the engine's coolant to avoid vapor lock
@@Viewer19 Nope, they are not! If you hook coolant up to those you are going to have a very bad day. You will fill your intake and cylinders with coolant. Those are vacuum ports. The Offenhauser intakes for the 240/300's don't have coolant ports. Some of the Clifford Performance 240/300 intakes do. But even if they were coolant passages, you wouldn't want uncontrolled exhaust heat riser hooked to your intake. That would cause your coolant temps to run hotter. Not what you want on a tow rig. He should really add a block off plate to the exhaust manifold heat riser. And swapping out the aluminum carb spacer for a composite one wouldn't be a bad idea either. You really want to keep heat away from the carb. The only time heat is good, is during cool/cold damp weather and you are feeding warm air into the air cleaner to help prevent carb icing. But that's a bigger problem on cross flow inline engines then it is on the 240/300.
Thank you 😊
love that you do true mechanics, and actually make your own stuff.
I enjoy seeing the scenery on any road trip.
Love to see this build come around to where you have it! Its been fun to see you grow!
Wow gotta love the sound of that exhaust. Can't wait to see all the future builds
Unless you find some NOS or old stock lifters, I would just run what you have. There has been a terrible amount quality control issues lately that are being documented with lifters. Until the quality changes, I wouldn't be throwing a new set in.
I submit, that to just joy cruise and listen to the sweet harmonious music from that tailpipe/engine, is pure therapy to anyone who grew up in the 70s, 80s or 90s. Pure Awesomeness!!!
Thoroughly enjoyed the video. The upgrades were all great ideas for this rig. Enjoy putting her to work.
What a great sound! My favourite was the 'Yellow Banana' Jeep, before tear down. This one is now definitely one of my favourites 🤩
I have loved this truck from day one! It sounds awesome!
started to order one of those intakes for my 1980 F-100. That's a really neat set up and it sounds fantastic.
Can't beat the sound of a full exhaust. That really sounds great!
Seeing the old f350 moving around and about town puts a smile on my face when I see it. You guys keep me smiling through a dark day. Day late and dollar short but congrats on the new shop Michael. As always much love from Pickens.
Y'all just took the 300 6cyl to a whole new level. Awesome!!
There's a guy who made a cheap turbo setup that has 270ho and 440tq
Great upgrades Michael. Needs a storage box on the bed ..winch and toolbox . Another vw rabbit pickup 👍🏼
The rich full flavor sound of that in-line 6 has got me with a case of the feels. I must go get me an old truck.
Great job, sweet rig and thank you for sharing.
One of the Nicest old Ford trucks I have ever seen Plus having the exhaust and carb upgrade makes it even better
Looks like you did some nice welding on that exhaust.
Very cool sound from that truck! Nice work getting the most out of that il6.
Love the look of it :)
Sounds nice. Brilliant work and thanks for sharing this with us take care
que buen trabajo hay en esa ford!! Saludos desde Argentina👍
Absolutely love this channel you can fix anything 💟💟💟
The factory f150 efi 300 split exhaust manifolds are hands down the best flowing of any 300 exhaust manifold.
With the exception of long tube headers, I agree
@@mwilliamshs even long tubes into a single collector dont flow or scavenge as good as the efi manifolds. There is a reason ford put them on there.
@@keeganlangford5580 i agree. You said "best flowing of any 300 exhaust *manifold* "
@@mwilliamshs I did, and you mentioned headers which are not manifolds either.
@@keeganlangford5580 a header is a manifold.
Super sweet ride 😍 love what you did looks amazing!!!! Sounds good as well keep up the good work 👏
Killer exhaust note! Nailed it
The exhaust note on this 300 is SWEET! I’d love to put a 3” exhaust on my ‘95 F150 with the 300. It probably would sound fabulous….no more Whimpy exhaust note.
Great mods for the 300. I had this engine in a 1982 Bronco, a real puller. I did not know of the mods you have made. Wish i had then, Onward!
Those rims are kicking, love the old trucks coming back to life.
This truck is so awesome! You guys really did a great job with it. Sounds really great too. Why don’t we see it being used as a tow vehicle in any of your recent videos?
Awesome truck! If it isn’t on the agenda, a headache rack would make a great addition to the flatbed
Nicely done in the drive way a true shade tree mechanic, what fun and what a great energy, and to top it all off your little girl likes your videos what more could you ask for. Now that’s success
Thats what a 300 should sound like
Great content, great improvements on a nice truck. Keep up the good work. I love the channel.
I love straight six sound!! mine have custom exhaust to be very easy on the flow!
What a great truck! Sounds like a diesel. Perfect tow/haul rig.
Great mods, should more power.. it's a solid work truck
That's a cool old truck, love the build, awesome content!
Good Sound!! Beautiful
You two are amazing with what you guys do with these old vehicles. I also spy another Caddy. We recently acquired a 1980 Caddy diesel. We followed what you guys did with the Caddy and now ours purrs like a kitten.
I took a deep dive into this channel at the beginning of vacation. I have to say it’s been really fun seeing you develop your camera presence and the way you involve us as viewers, how you show us things they creativity. I miss my Dad and it’s so cool you get that time together. I watched some of your 1st episodes today. That’s when I noticed you really enjoy this stuff. The rest was already there, you just needed time to develop it. Thanks for keeping it real & letting us share what you’re doing.
I love the sound of your 300 six. Depending on the RPM, sometimes it sounds almost like a big diesel.
Great editing. Really enjoyed this video. Thanks boys!
Nice Old truck. I like the blue mustang in the garage.
Nice rig guys love the old fords ya can’t kill em
If it's a lifter sticking, run a quart of Rizlone in it. Works great!
Your video technique is getting awesome. Good quality camera too! Love your work on this big six. So much smarter than buying a late model truck for $$$$$$$$$....(If you could find one in this market.) Always enjoy watching you guys work together.
Great job on the truck.
You and your dad did a great job on the ford. I enjoy seeing vehicles that have been rejected get new life. There are new cars on the road today that dont run as good as what you and dad did for that F350 👍. I enjoy the videos, keep em comin.
The truck sounds awesome!
Very nice homemade bracketry.
I love old stuff so much easier to deal with.
Cool truck. Think your dad will have it as his daily driver, I could see a glint in his eyes👀
Love those old Ford in lines! Especially the 300. Flowmaster exhaust are great! I have a true dual setup on my 90 5.0 Mustang with shorty tube headers and sounds great! As you are a boat guy also, thought I’d share what we put $ down on. A new to us, 33’ Sea Ray with twin 502’s! Yeah baby!
Awesome video as always. Nice ‘66. Cheers from Florida.
Great job!
Awesome video Michael, that exhaust sounds fantastic
The hose fittings on your offy intake are for the engine's coolant flow to pass through the manifold to warm it. It looks like your passing crankcase ventilation through it? Might be the camera angles at 15:10, 16:49
Always loved that truck.
I’ve got a 65 F100 stepside with the 300 inline 6, same offenhauser intake, Holley 600, it’s been sitting in a garage since 07, so I’ve got my work cut out.
Enjoyed the video, I also like the econoline camper that you have on the channel, look forward to seeing how it turns out!
Great content as ever, with another VW Caddy to follow.
Love the truck and everything you have done to it.
I live in South Carolina also.
Truck is looking great!
Don’t have time to watch full video now so I skipped around. Sounds soooooooo good!
Great video again, here for your perfect, calm sunny weather again...Man, I'm so jealous of your weather...Where abouts in the US are you..?...🤔😀😀🇬🇧
