- Welcome to our fifth episode on the Timeline of Elden Ring - the War against the Dragons and the birth of the Golden Order. A thorough Lore video covering the banishment of Godfrey and the creation of the Tarnished, the Destined Death coup and the subsequent Dragon War, and finally after Godwyn's courage, the establishment of the Golden Order proper with Radagon. There is of course lots of uncertainty and speculation, as with any attempt to make an Elden Ring timeline, so this is all just our own theory!

I love whenever you use the Shadow of the Colossus soundtrack, it hits me with SO much nostalgia for one of the absolute best games ever made
One theory that I really like is that the slander that Shabriri committed was accusing the Great Caravan of worshipping the Three Fingers, leading to the genocide and the summoning of the Three Fingers.
I’d say that would earn the title of “most reviled man in history.”

There's part of me that believes this. There is so much Dark Souls "canon" that revolves around unsubstantiated speculation that the community accepts and enshrined.
Like Allfather Lloyd. He has this huge lore behind him when all you can confirm is that he is Gwyn's Uncle, a high Cleric, owned a sword and shield, and had "Duels of judgement" where Lloyd's "sword of law" carried out sentencing. There's a ton that the community just extrapolated from nothing and most people just accepted it, passing the falsehoods around until they became true.
Miyazaki doesn't play his games idk if he cares about the story. to me it just seems like he's making copyright free berserk games

Isn't it kind of a big speculation to say that the gloam eyed queen was placidusax's god? As far as I'm aware we're not even sure where the gloam eyed queen and the godskins fall in the timeline and we have no reason to believe with any confidence that she was ever vessel to the elden ring like Marika is. All we know is that she controlled/wielded destined death, one specific rune of the ring. Destined death was "plucked from the golden order upon its creation" which to me implies that when Marika gained control of the elden ring she removed the rune of death from it. Its unclear what exact role it played before or after that. GEQ could have had purview over it while it was still part of the elden ring, or it could have been given to her by marika after the golden order was created, only to be taken away at a later time and sealed within maliketh. Or it could have been some totally different third thing.
It's not that uncommon of a postulation in the theory community. Nothing ever states that the GEQ wasn't a god, only that she was at some point an empyrean which is something also said of the current god Marika. Another thing is that given the Elden Ring predates Marika as seen by it's previous iteration in Maliketh's arena it must be assumed that she took it from another when coming to power. While possible that it was a third entity capable of wielding great runes whom we've never heard of with current evidence GEQ is likely our best candidate, especially with Godskins now seemingly defending locations that defy the Golden Order as a possible act of vengeful rebellion: Ranni's Tower, The Temple of Eigley, the chamber housing the Godslayer Greatsword, Dominula (where they seek to return to traditional/heretical birthing methods as hinted by the fertility festival), and of course the ancient temple of the Dragons - though the alternate theory on the last one is that they're there to go after Maliketh and retrieve the stolen power of Destined Death.
It is still definitely speculation but in order to make narrative Fromsoft lore videos some speculation is always required. Also given the DLC story trailer seems to depict Marika (the hand is wearing her bracelets) removing stands of the Elden Ring from a very godskin-esque lump of flesh and using it to finalize mounds of dead into the Erdtree (their shape is almost 1:1 with the entrance of the Erdtree as we see it up close in-game) the theory has gained even more traction.
TL;DR - It's a leap but if you have to pick someone GEQ is top candidate.
The belief the Gloam-eyed queen is a god, let alone Placidusax's, was unexpected. I'm not sure if I believe that yet.

You guys want a crazy theory? Yura's quest is why we have sewer Mohg. Whatever Dynasty of Blood Mohg is trying to create, with all of that bloodletting, will inevetibly lead to someone getting Frenzied. Frenzy is drawn to pain, suffering and sorrow after all. I mean look at everything that comes out of the Land of Reeds and their item descriptions. That place is hell and if Sekiro exists in the same world we've even seen that hell.

I have a question: Vyke served as a knight of the Roundtable, but Gideon says, " The Roundtable Hold served to put a Tarnished upon the throne of Elden Lord." So the Roundtable must have been formed after Godfrey leaves with his tarnished, but if Vyke was there as a member of the Dragon Cult and knew Lansseax and a member of Roundtable Hold, then that means Tarnished were already back? I think this might answer your query on the ship that stayed behind. A group of Tarnished must have stayed and in service of the Golden Order as the first knights of the Roundtable Hold, right?
That could be the case! It's something we look at in later episodes, but we think the Dragon Cult is around for a long time after the war, and Tarnished like Vyke weren't there at it's conception. Similarly, our theory is that the purpose of the Roundtable now, to put the Tarnished on the throne, isn't what it always was.
@@Hawkshaw I wonder what their original purpose was then. Vargram and Wilhelm are said to have been the first Tarnished to visit the Roundtable Hold, which does tell us your reply is probably right, but we really don't get much about the Roundtable itself and I doubt we'd get much in the DLC
Honestly I think Gideon is either lying to you, or giving you a misinterpretation of the roundtable hold, maybe when he says the purpose of the round table hold is to put a new tarnished on the throne, maybe he means the current round table hold that is disconnected from the real one in leyndell, or maybe when he says “the roundtable hold is to put a tarnished on the throne” maybe he could have been referring to them helping Godfrey ascend to throne or something??

Honestly it’s just as possible that it was around before Godfrey was even lord. It might have been how he became Elden Lord in the first place.

I think Godfrey may be lying to us. He says he's the first Elden lord and we know he's not. Why should we believe he faced the storm lord alone? Maybe the light went out of his eyes for other reasons than his conquest being complete.

Tbh, I just don't agree with the notion that Marika banished Godfrey to make the Erdtree as powerful as possible. If anything, the story is suggesting the opposite motive.

I think the whole Radagon is Marika theory is seen wrongly. I believe they where never the same and that Radagon is chosen by Marika to weaken Caria. Radagon is then filled with greed for power and imprisons Marika and attempts to merge with her. That is why none of them have complete bodies. I believe Radagon then establishes his own Golden Order and Marika then shatters the Elden ring before Radagon fully merges with her. That would explain the disparity between them and why she is again imprisoned. That is why we barely hear about Marika after she takes on Radagon. I think there might be some wholes in this theory but with some work I think it can truly be something.
In the goldmask quest it is literally revealed that Ragadon is Marika after using the law of regression on the statue in the capital.
Radagon cannot be Marika because Radagon is Radagon and Marika is Marika. One cannot be the other therefore the other cannot be part of the one.

You lost me with your timeline. Godfrey most definitely fought the Dragons and their vassals.
Theyre are still crucible knights still fighting beastmen in Farum Azula and one of them seemingly killed an ancient dragon
Nepheli loux(a descendent of Godfrey) gives you an ancient dragon scale taken directly from placidusax at the end of her questline
Farum Azula was originally in CAELID/dragonsbarrow, as you said Godfrey was returning from their when he was robbed of his grace.
It's all connected. Look at sword monument. It's called the "ROUTING OF THE ANCIENT DRAGONS"
To rout is to make retreat in disarray. Gransax was killed in lenydel while lannseax and Fortisax turn coated. Who retreated then? The answer is placidusax. That's why he's scarred and missing heads. Ofc the Elden Lord equalivalent wouldn't go down without a fight of some sort. I don't believe it's a stretch

Radahn not being dead has the same energy as Pontiff Sulyvahn surviving his boss fight, and you might as well include Mohg and Malenia into the mix.
