I remember. I felt like our title hope was alive and then lost it all a week later. I was like all that for this. Part of me felt maybe we shouldn’t have helped United win the title. Liverpool were consistently inconsistent back then.

The game is classic. Collymore last goal was on Vietnam TV's Sportnews intro for over a decade. The game is also the reason why we bought EPL broadcasting right in the following season. 1998

Amazing game to watch back then, still amazing to watch now. Fantastic game. Some really talented players on display, on both sides.
Remember this as my favourite Premier League game of all time. We had a lads night in and watched it live on Sky. It was none-stop action from start to finish, and Newcastle were real contenders for the title that season, a great side, but this match killed off their challenge. What this video doesn't show is the reaction of the Toon fans after the final whistle - they were in a state of total shock and devastation.
"... real contenders for the title ...". They were 12 points clear in the new year, and still had a good lead and a game in hand until late in February, and then they lost 5 of the next 7 games (this game being the fourth loss from that run), but this game and that run didn't kill their title challenge, because they were still in contention (2pts behind Shited) on the final day of the season.
And now Liverpool are the Premier League champions European cup champions the super cup champions and the club World Cup champions what time to be alive
And now we're a mid table team again :)

I was at this match. 5 of us flew over from Dublin for the day. I cheered every Liverpool goal at the top of my lungs. I was fucking ecstatic. Reason being, unlike my 4 mates who are Liverpool supporters, I am a lifelong United supporter. I knew that every goal the Scousers scored meant United would win the league. True story. 🙂. MUFC !

What a classic, don't get many games like this anymore, pure football, none of this VAR. There were simply too many good players back then with the top teams, could easily beat the current players. This was a game where you remember what you were doing at the time.
