      Yeah man, I feel like an amateur watching him coach stuff and I’ve been studying/training for a decade. I have to replay things upwards of three times to see what he saw once… sometimes I still don’t get it fully. He’s a wealth of information for a truly advanced lifter base. You don’t get this kind of minutiae anywhere else

      Oh yeah, it’s so great. None of these people had any idea what he was even talking about. They all had that deer in the headlights look to them. And Tate is just way too anal about every little detail. He’s confusing them more than he’s helping them. Yeah he’s a great coach. Sure thing 😂👎🏻

  • @Doviruses.existbaileyonodysee

    Lately as an avg home gym goer i am doing a couple of different deadlift variations in a session. So a warm up/main/ & end.
    Is that something advanced lifters would often do?
    I am warming up standing on wood blocks up to about 70ish %. Narrow stance. But my hands are together in the centre. I guess it's more of a "squatlift" but the glutes feel fired up after, and the erectors full of blood.
    Then a main sets Dl up to what ever i can on the day without breaking my hold.
    Then back on blocks up to a mild weight. for a wide grip narrow foot, focusing on holding the back statically and more of a hold and slow negative down.

  • @joethebar1
    @joethebar1 Před 3 lety +4

    It’s amazing how many people at the gym, are lifting with their shoulders way in front of their knees. The reason? Because it’s harder to sit back and do it. It’s inefficient and dangerous to have the lower back doing that much work. My deadlift hit a personal best this weekend and my lower back felt fine- even coming off an injury

    • @Danny-db9du
      @Danny-db9du Před 3 lety

      If it’s more efficient and dangerous, then why do it? Genuine question

    • @koleary1798
      @koleary1798 Před 2 lety +1

      @@Danny-db9du my guess would be that it's easier to just musclefuck the weight up any old way than to get into a correct starting position (most always uncomfortable) which may involve stripping weight off the bar. Kind of a 2 steps back to be able to take 5 forward, which can be hard for a lot of people to come to grips with.

    so sometimes these cues to help activate certain areas "doing what works" are "not right" but once you can feel the change you try to make it into a more normal situation? Like the chin tuck to help activate his glute"s in the right way

    Just hold the stages more, all of you., Dont rush into the DL and try to just "get it done" draw it out, each stage slwo, 1 s gaps. youre all rushing like a panic as soon as you think you're okay because you dont like the awkwardness of the set-up. Do each of 4 stages setup with 1s pause-hold every rep so you get confident and happy with it over months from repetition.
    Hands on bar, position, hold 1sec, pull slack out of bar , 1s, pull slack out of bones 1s, nearly go to lift + hold *long enough to settle, at least 1 sec, , launch it by all by pressing the palms of your feet straight down. (sometimes hold this position for long time to burn it into memory. When you feel everything in your bones+body stbilize - stillness arrive after the activity of aligning everything under tension - Lift press feet straight down and trying to press butt "downward" towards feet, lower by closing the kitchen drawer behind you, careful + controlled. Never being "womped forward" by the weight as if it' a big dog on a lead
    Go for weights that let you do this timed and measured. So 5% less than "usual" but controlled and beautiful so youre in control. So you clearly see each stage completed and marked offf. There is zero chance of you getting to the end of a lift and not executing the entire thing with perfect form because you take it slower and wait to be sure each box is ticked. You musnt rush it and just pray the cards land right that you do it correctly. This is unreliable.
    If you all took time to cross off each of the 4 stages of bar set up you would all develop much better lifts. And then when you're amazing at doing that, speeding up will come naturally. Also creating the correct set up then holding for a long time "blazes it in"to your brain and makes you get used to the position and get much stronger in it too. Its like an isometric hold. When you have perfect set-up you should be able to stay like that for 10 minutes without moving and without launching. Its a proof of sorts that your alignments are optimal

    Recently, I started doing 3-4 sets of lat work before I deadlift. I find that I can feel the lats working so much better in the deadlift if I do this. I’m guessing my form/position is solid if I can feel the lats engage
