This just reinforces the notion that If you just act like you're supposed to do something, many times others around will naturally react like you are as well
The amount of times I went through serious security as a scruffy dude delivering food is hilarious. Luckily, I was just delivering food and not trying to do anything criminal.
@@seymourglass26 Precisely this. I’ve gotten through security checkpoints so many times, just looking & acting the part. I worked for the military while doing this, but I’ve thought many times of how easy that is, for those with nefarious intentions.
@@fredyllanos8972 yep. ive gotten into music festivals by just acting like i know what im doing. it always helps to have a backup plan, but it really does work
@@samburck13 That's awesome Sam, so what was your backup plan?
@@franciscomarquez3678 my cover story to get in was that I was a sound tech for one of the stages. if that wasn't good enough I'd pretend to call another sound tech or stage manager. then I'd tell the people at the gate that I was supposed to enter at a different gate. then I'd try the same thing at the next gate. sometimes my friends would come with me and we would all wear the same shirt to make it look more legit. once one person was in they could help the rest in at another gate by telling the gate workers they were sound techs starting their shifts.
I've only tried sneaking into festivals twice, and it worked both times. nowadays I'd just pay, but I was a broke college student back then

Thanks for putting something in quotes that we all heard on our own. You’re a real hero
Very very sneaky
haha what does that even mean 🤣🤣
But wouldn’t the catcher know the secret too
Looks like everybody forgot the unwritten rule that you're not supposed to walk on 0-3.
Tony larussa is having a panic attack right now
Somebody get mad at Tatis for this
Not with that big a lead, you’re not.
Considering 0-3 is a strikeout with no balls, I would agree it would be silly to walk in that situation.
pretty sure 0-3 is a walk back to the dugout
Urshela: Don’t be suspicious
i love this comment
Sus

Here’s a little lesson in trickery...
Don’t be suspicious
Alternative Title: Gio Urshela steals first base
This. This is what really happened. It's so meta-level if he actually knew this and had the confidence to walk the way he did, that's Obi-Wan level "these aren't the droids you're looking for" type misdirection. Part of me thinks they all forgot collectively, all of them, and he's just taking reverse-engineered genius credit for it. If you are sure everyone else there thinks it's 2-2, then you had better be sure, because you are going to look *really* silly waltzing to 1st like you own the place... if they all immediately yell at you to get the hell back to the plate, it's a full count. Mental.
It wasn’t a steal, as the rules don’t allow that and the official scorer didn’t count it as a steal. Nice try with the click bait post though.
“He runs to first base... and no one stops him” 😂
He can't keep getting away with this! Someone stop that man!
“I’ve done it! I have walked!” 😂

Did the commentators take notice?
@@HxCMusicMaster My question too as I wasnt able to watch it.
Hahahah
@@HxCMusicMaster Yes, they did notice that it was only ball 3
Alternative title:

Ha
right its been 9 pitches
Yeah I was confused cause I was expecting the at-bat to be three pitches. Your title makes more sense.
Two-strike strikeouts, three-ball walks, and other counting failures | Dorktown
Yeah, that’s why I’m sure Jomboy’s phrasing was intentional. That’s why Jake is there. He’s the bad phrasing detector.
Jon Bois did a dorktown episode of three ball walks and two strike K's
add Giovanni to the list
And don't forget the four ball non walk
Are we having a Jomboy / Jon Bois crossover moment? I am VERY excited.
Yea I remember that one.. I guess he demonstrated that there is so much baseball no one can keep up with all of it. Everyone's counting on the umpire & scoreboard to keep up with this shit honestly. If there is a mistake and it's not a big moment in a big game, just an interminable at-bat in the middle of a summer day, most of the witnesses are probably jawing in the stands and dugouts, looking at their phone, nodding off or eating/drinking until somebody strikes out or puts a ball in play.. you can get away with this occasionally 😆
@@nightowl0545 -- Could be JomBois!
Umpire: "When he twirled the bat after ball 3, that counted as a swing, so he advanced to first on a dropped third strike....uh, yeah...that's it."
And Jon Bois just made a video on about this type of stuff...

Yeah what’s his channel

@@park5782 look up dorktown, three ball walks
Thank you
If the ump thought the 1-2 pitch was a ball into the glove, then why did he give the catcher a new ball?
That's what I want to know.
I assume he thought it bounced off his glove
A whole lot of stupid going on in baseball this week
Cuz the catcher put his hand out asking for a ball.
@@bcdm999 makes sense.
Secret Base did a good Dorktown video a few months ago about 2-strike outs and 3-ball walks. It's impressive how often this actually happens.
Can you send a link by any chance?

Doesn’t Marty Funkhouser from Curb Your Enthusiasm have a nephew who’s a star pitcher (in the show)? Life imitating art.
Yeah, I definitely wanted more Funkhouser recognition in this breakdown
Fuck no, that was my old boss last name and he was one of the dumbest human beings i ever met...but im a little bias lol

“Wait, that’s illegal”
Had a shitty day at work today but dat boi jomboy always got me when I get home💪🏾
Real ones know about the Jon Bois video: “When we all forgot to count to 4”. Immediately thought of that when I seen this
We need jomboy as the professional breakdown guy in the mlb.
The catcher and the ump, had to have known it was a foul, because they needed a new ball. Honestly I'm surprised this shit doesn't happen more often
Noticed that, was waiting for this video
Called it. It’s on jomboy now
The stadium scoreboard operator probably didn't see the umpire signal foul ball, as you pointed out was possible. Because of that the stadium board probably said 2-2 on a 1-2 count, which made him have "ball four" in everyone's minds even though it was ball three
It’s literally not possible because the ump immediately reached for a new ball.
That alone rules out the possibility of the catcher maybe having the ball, which would earn the supposed ghost count.
The ump immediately knew the pitch wasn’t caught by the catcher, and that was reinforced by the catcher turning around requesting a new ball.
That only leads to one conclusion which would be that the ball struck the bat and was a foul ball. There was no possibility of him calling that a ball.
@@ohainickify I think a scoreboard operator is smart enough to see that, but the umps motion wasn't pronounced enough to guarantee they saw it. They probably thought it bounced off the glove and went off to the side rather than the bat
jomboy really needs that old mic back this one sounds kinda like he’s in a cavern
Nah, he just needs to turn the gain down a little and bring it closer to his breakfast. The fidelity is way better, he just needs to optimize it
Yo your an unbelievable talent keep doing what ur doing

After doing doing 13 years in prison for a crime I did not commit and was exonerated I work full time in the union but my fav channel to watch is this channel I love baseball and I love how this guy talks on his show and love his awesome talk. I enjoy this every night I go to bed before I go to work the next day. Love baseball and Jon boy
Gio “the god” currently sitting on my fantasy league waivers tho
Wouldn’t the catcher know that didn’t hit his glove?
great content. would love to see more secrets of the hidden temple tho.
The new mix sounds like a broadcasting thing. I think I like it
From a Tiger fan, the Yankees and the Tigers always seem to find new ways to have strange games. If they aren't throwing pitches at each others batters. It is weird stuff like this sort of thing. I'll take it as long as the Tigers beat the Yankees. We haven't done much in recent seasons. But we keep messing with the Yankees. Always interesting.
keep up the good work detroit
Yankee fan here and I love when the team plays Detroit
The other person that should’ve known it was a strike was the catcher because he asked for another all.
I like how you casually add song lyrics in you breakdown lol
jomboy carries baseball youtube no cap
How many pitches was that?
New title: Jomboy somehow calls 9-pitches, 3-pitches, instead of just saying 3-balls, a breakdown.
Jomboy do a breakdown about how Jones, the substitute first basemen for the Astros missed a pop up in foul ground to keep the game alive and then Tatis hits the game tying HR in the top of the 9th and then Jones is the last out of the game in the 12th inning.
I was there
I thought it was the 13th inning
@@Balooser Na it was the 12th
this channel is great
Thanks
There needs to be a Twitter account for 3-ball walks and 4-ball non-walks, just like the Scorigami bot for the NFL.
That was still more than 3 pitches though, you mean 3 balls.
I knew this breakdown was in our future.
i dont even enjoy baseball that much but ur commentary makes it fucking amazing

This will go down in history for being as monumental to mankind as the 1969 moon landing, the Magna Carta agreement of 1215, and the invention of agriculture
There is an old clip of Steven Piscotty when he still played for the cardinals, he gets hit 3 different times rounding the bases, I thought it would be cool if you did a breakdown of it

What a WEEK for weird baseball!!!
When I first watched this I was keeping count and at the :22 SEC mark, I too thought the 1-2 high inside pitch was a ball making it 2-2 , then you explained it
"alright, everyone pay attention"
pahaha and I'm already chuckling
The catcher absolutely knew it hit the bat
Raising one hand is a nonchalant "time out" when switching out balls, and he also nonchalantly points it back into play when the pitcher has the ball on the rubber.
Such an uncommon scenario!
I watch more baseball on this channel than I do anywhere else now
I watched it live on TV. I questioned it as soon as it happened, but, thought I made a mistake when no one on the broadcast said anything!!
Ah, I've been waiting
That stayin alive cover though. Can we get official audio?
Oh dang, they really did it
Can you do a breakdown of the bottom of the 3rd on the 30 between the Yankees and tigers
Great player. Never give them the edge.
Kinda disappointed Jomboy didn’t breakdown that dodger v giants. Wild finish the other night.
When he started towards 1st I laughed thinking oh he’s gonna get it in dugout not knowing the count. But then he kept going 😂
Secret base did a video about this. Looks like they gotta add this one to the list.
It blew my mind when announcer Michael Kay brought up the replay of the at-bat a few minutes after it happened. The ball was obviously deflected off the bat and not the catcher's mitt.
jomboy, jon bois collab in a way. i like it.
I think I’ve seen a video on this before. This happens pretty often oddly enough
even jimmy was confused here. "lead off batter"
Good to see that Funkman's nephew recovered from his injuries in Spain, and finally made it to the show!
Good take
Secret Base has an incredible video on 3 ball walks, 2 strike K's, and other pitch count anomalies.
What did the stadium scoreboard show at the time of the walk?
I’m surprised that the catcher didn’t realize either
One time I snuck into a state championship football game because I put a “staff” lanyard around my neck that I had from a high school job, and I walked at a fast pace with my phone to my ear. Kind of the same thing happened here.
As always Jomboy, very allegorical!
Nice 18 inch miss on that slider as well. That is skill.
This one made me laugh really hard
