I'll agree for any weapons in tf2 that aren't referances to other game weapons. The Witcher's sword isn't a referance to the Three-Rune Blade, after all
I love the Barik engineer skin because I sometimes think its just an older engineer who tried making a dimensional portal and that he got sucked in and some how went to the paladins universe but its still the engineer from tf2 so he is just improving himself by learning how to make more sentries without metal, building a wall out of thin air, and by making rocket boots to make him just zoom fast. I also like this skin because Grant Goodeve made new lines for the engineer's ultimate.

I also like how the sentry gun is super strong in tf2 but barikâs sentries in paladins do like no damage.

I love the *Entire TF2 themed mode* in Hot Dogs, Horseshoes, and Hand-grenades the most
every one of the classes stock weapons is in the game (plus, some custom ones added by the devs), and you have to reload them yourself in VR, pretty fun and *very* chaotic

A smaller reference Iâve found recently is in Madness Project Nexus
When fighting the gangster enemies who already have a partial Boston accent and weird baseball bats at times will shout âBonkâ upon swinging which feels more than likely to be a small nod to the scout(believe there are more references in the game but that was the first that came to mind.
I just got that game last week and was pleasantly surprised by the reference

My favorite is sadly missed, but it's Dungeon of the Endless. Adding Heavy, Medic, Engie, and pyro to the game as playable characters with all their own unique stats and abilities, dialogue, and some dope ass pixel art.
dungeon of the endless is one of the few i knew and have played with. i love how, at least from my memory, at least three of the four tf2 characters are actually really good. engi, heavy and pyro all rock. i dont remember using medic much though

Also wondered how it didn't pop up here as an example, because it contains even more TF2 characters than most of games shown, also they're no simple skin or other gimmick but proper playable and useful characters in the game (used heavy very often)
I absolutely love DotE and was skimming the video from the start to try and find it, but I was sorely disappointed
The best part about that skin in paladins is that it actually has 2 unique animations that barik's default model (and his other skins) don't have, when you reload he just fixes a screw to the side of his gun with a wrench (something he doesn't do by default) and when you ult he pulls out a switch and flips it, whereas in his default skin he just kinda slams his turret into the ground with his hands.
Note the switch thing got changed since 2018 since there was a bug which made when using said skin make barik take 1 second longer to put the ult in so it was changed to the default slamming to thr ground one.
Paladins actually came before overwatch, although it was a different genre at that time. Despite the games poor polish it's actually a great game in my opinion, it's like overwatch with character depth and good map design.
Will say that overwatch is more like "we have tf2 at home" while Paladins is "what if we made a MOBA but FPS, and we have tf2 as reference so we don't f_ck it up as much"
agreed, and even if paladins was an overwatch copy, by that logic overwatch would be a copy of a ton of other games. Making lots of characters with unique abilities is very hard and certain playstyles are logical, like fernando and reinhardt. Simple big shield, short range weapon and a small dash escape ability meant to get on and off the point fast and defend effectively while sacrificing range. I don't get the constant comparisons, because some playstyles are more intuitive than others and those are usually the most common to appear, like in OW and Paladins

In Dungeon of the Endless The Pyro, Heavy, Medic and Engineer are playable characters and in a mobile game called Tiny Tower there's an Engineer outfit for your civillians

Payday 2 has a cameo as well. In the Armored transport: train heist, you're tasked with stealing a prototype turret, which is literally just a lvl 1 RED sentry.
Thought that was cool.
RED Demolition and Builders League United, as well as Mann Co (IIRC) are also present in the Big Bank heist, where they are listed in reference to stock trading in the office area.

the go bank vault door is a more realistic version of the vault door that appears on 2fort. (that heist is already a crossover with csgo) (theres many other valve related references and one other crossover.)
Every time I learn that thereâs a tf2 reference, I always will put that as my first priority to experience it
Donât know if anyone else has actually mentioned it yet, battle nations also had a big crossover with tf2. It was a turn based strategy game with base building mechanics and a mini quest line for the cross over. Over half of all the classes were included with unique abilities.

One of two different mobile games I played in the early 2010's to crossover with TF2 - The other being Hero something. Heroscape? Hero Wars? It was like an isometric version of chess, and the pieces had health bars (and were various fantastical creatures; knights, wizards, ninjas, ghosts... Mercenaries...)

Henry stickmin: collection also has many refrances and character cameos to many franchises and tf2 aswell, but even as a flash game before anything official on steam from the 2nd game alone i think all of the games had a tf2 refrance only a few that are kinda hard to avoid but many smaller ones too pretty cool how people know and love this game. Obviusly not everyone plays it today but the nostalgia and the fact that you can still enjoy a fun game of it is a nice feeling, especially today when after years some devs actually care at valve to work in this game
I remember in Sam and Max season 3, theirs one episode that has a broken dispenser in a corner. If you click on it enough times, having sam bash it with the engineers wrench, then a banang drink will get dispensed. This causes max to suddenly destroy it and the machine. I loved that little nod to tf2 and the previous season.
Another game cameo that you might have missed is when an app game called "Battle Nations" had the TF2 Mercs has usable fighting Units
I came, precisely in the hope of seeing her. At one time, I was reading an extremely psychedelic fan fiction about Godzilla, pony, and other company, and at a certain point, battles began to be described there consisting of a listing of units participating on both sides. It was only after reading the comments at the end of the chapter that it became clear that the author did not have enough Godzilla, MC11, MLP and Injustice and he decided to make the second most important crossover for the book - a mobile game.

In SpaceChem, there are a couple of TF2 puzzles that when solved, earns you Moustachium Bar, "Fish", and Spacemetal Scrap in TF2 that can be used to craft the SpaceChem pin and fishcake.
When "Mini Motor Racing Evo" was still available, it not only had exclusive cars but also had entire race tracks referencing Team Fortress 2 and Portal!

In payday 2, there is the tf2 turret in one or maybe 2 missions ( I canât quite remember ) but basically the point of the mission was to build the turret.

Back in 2010 ish Battle Nations a mobile game had an entire TF2 chapter in it as a collab. You could earn every merc minus Medic, Engineer and Spy I believe. The game is no longer supported, but I had every merc in the game way back then.
Rest in peace SMNC. It was the best game in its genre. Too bad she's gone forever.
Id like to mention that all the Henry Stickmin games have loads of TF2 references as well, beginning from the earliest iteration of the sniper on the helicopter in stealing the diamond
He also used the original voice clip of "WAVE GOODBYE TO YOUR HEAD WANKER" in the original Flash clip. The iOS port and the collection port used PuffBallUnited's own voice. The iOS version was kinda bad but the collection port was pretty decent.
Someone else actually found a second reference to Team Fortress 2 in half-life Alex in their own TF2 cameo video, on one of the levels there's actually a hard hat next to a poster showing a stylized version of engineer

I think right now my favorite tf2 cameo has to be H3VR cause I love being able to properly play with the stock weapons from all the classes in tf2 and some unique ones that the dev added in too.
One of my favorite TF2 Cameos is in 'Super Time Force Ultra'. Each version of the game varies by platform to what unique characters you can play as and the Steam Version lets you play as Zoey, Pyro and Saxton Hale.
Playing as Saxton Hale while going through time to beat the crap out of Robots and Dinosaurs was something special!
With the and cameos the only thing I can remember is Henry stickmin collection, it has A LOT of cameos, the creator even made a joke about TF2 being a "game of hats" and made the tophat gang.
I think they should have used the scout for the car demo (with a pirate themed ship) for the boat and the soldier (with a rocket) for the plane
The boat was the airboat from Half Life.

There is an old, now delisted mobile game (that was also on Steam) called Battle Nations. A turn-based strategy game. It had a crossover with TF2 which featured Scout, Soldier, Pyro, Demoman and Heavy as playable units. Sniper was also featured in the loading screen art but was never added in.
They also had a special limited time quest chain which basically amounted to assisting BLU team steal RED teamâs flag.
Dungeon of the Endless had the Pyro, Heavy, Medic, and the Engineer as heros you could find/run with. That was pretty neat. It also added some TF2 items like the Sandvich, Data Pad, Archimedes, and another thing I'm forgetting.
I like their appearance in Dungeon of the Endless. the Medic is one of the best survivors in that game.
You forgot Speedrunners !! It has the Scout as a playable character
some guy sold me access to his pnati and PN2, and i gotta say its the most fun i had playing a crossover game. Not only that the lines which the characters use seem to be comical and funny, but the fact that you can actually gamble over stuff seems pretty fun. The rewards are also cool, as you get them for playing the game more and more, without needing to just spend 1 hour on them.

Surprised the Scout being playable in Speedrunners wasn't mentioned considering how much of a blast that was. There was also Battle Nations which featured some of the cast in it and aws pretty dope.
In Payday2, There is a Heist called "Transport: Train Heist" Where you're stealing a turret. The Ammo is not notable but when you break into and find the vault with the turret in it, you will see it is a Lv1 Sentry from Tf2
Donât forget H3VR, a game about shooting guns in vr, sometimes at 6â tall sausages, and occasionally dressed up as TF2 mercs. Fun game

I think DRG has an homage to the Engineer. The character has a shotgun and turrets, kinda looks like the Engineer too, but it has a beard, but it had goggles and a hard hat looking hat.
I remember back in middle school, there was this battle rpg mobile game called Battle Nations. Some point before the company who made the game went bankrupt and had to close the app, I remember they added a crossover where you could have Scout, Pyro and Heavy as actual units in the game. They even had special dialogue with the main characters of the game. At that point I had just started playing Tf2, so that was a very pleasant surprise.

There was an old mobile game called Battlenations that got removed from the App Store a long time ago, it had a direct cameo where some of the tf2 mercs could be used as your soldiers in fights.
Can we all appreciate valve for not making cash grab sequels and for letting people use and reference their characters. Valve isn't perfect but they seem to mean well.

Don't Starve has hidden files for a pyro character. They are almost fully sprited and coded along with a few custom items.
A phone game Battle Nations (That was also on steam and is now completely shut down) had a whole TF2 mini campaign.
It's nice to have TF2 related items even in newly released games. I noticed the Engineer skin while playing Paladins before, it made me very happy.

Speaking of Dungeon Defenders, they did a crossover with Terraria once...which also has a TF2 cameo in the form of the Engineering Helmet cosmetic, which is sold by the Mechanic and looks exactly like the TF2 Engineer.

I was a little disappointed that it never talked about the Henry Stickmin franchise. It has countless TF2 refernces from rocket jumping, the wrench, and even a character that looks exactly like Sniper and even says, "Wave goodbye to your head, wanker!" in that good old Australian accent.

In valorant, on the map Haven, if you go to the upper window on bomb site A, there is a tf2 style sniper rifle and the snipers yellow jar thing (I forgot what itâs called) on the floor

Mini motor Racing even had a crossover. They lost the license, but the vehicles and tracks were renamed. Heavyâs Truck and a map are around in the VR game

There was also a game called Speed Runners and the game had you running a character through an obstacle course, competing with friends, and I remember thinking it was so cool that they added Scout as one of the racers.
I know this isnt a game, but in one of the seasons of Venture Bros (6 or 7) there was a scene of Dr. Venture and Sgt. Hatred playing TF2 together. I was so excited when I first saw it. Good times

You should have included Dungeon of the Endless. Not only is it a good (if hella difficult) game, but the main Staples of the team are in it, with their own in universe lore, but also flavor text too. There's even unlockables related to escaping the dungeon with the full TF team.
