Eh it's not too bad. It might mean a more rudimentary mic setup because many places only have so much gear or so many channels to work with, but in terms of mixing a band it wouldn't be too hard. I run sound for all kinds of shows, and being a Deadhead, I could only seldom fault a band for showing up with two drummers.

I was at that show and I was wondering how they ended up playing in middle-of-nowhere Fayette-nam (North Carolinians consider it the armpit of the state) instead of an hour and half north in the Triangle area (Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill). A lot of people at UNC, Duke, and NC State would show up but hour and a half to nowhere is a bit of a haul.

Adam, in the future you should announce these kinds of tours on your channel. I had no idea there was anything happening as I don't have other kinds of social media, so if this had come to my area, I would have probably missed out on it and been really sad. It doesn't have to be anything major, but I think just a small announcement video on this channel would go a long way towards raising awareness about these kinds of things with your CZcams audience.

@@DiePixelkrieger I understand that to a certain extent, and if there was a separate Sungazer channel on CZcams where he announced these things, I probably wouldn't ask him to do it here, but as it is, this is the main place on CZcams for Sungazer fans to congregate (aside from Shawn's channel, which also didn't have an explicit announcement). Not wanting to have to rely on his CZcams audience to make this band a success is fine, but I think there should be at least some way for people to find out about these things if CZcams is their main social media platform, whether that be in the form of a separate channel or on this channel (which I had assumed to be the default location in lieu of an obvious alternative).

So as someone who tours for a living, I totally feel your pain with the first show having so many issues. Things go wrong, stuff doesn't work, I've been there before. At the same time, it kinda of highlights the importance of pre-production. I don't intend any disrespect, you guys are much more competent musicians than myself.
Any tour that I've been a part of, we would always take a couple days before, work out any issues with the rig, with parts, tracks, arrangement, choreography, etc. Even if it was stuff that we had played for months, we would hash it out fix issues, tweak the setlist, try to improve the overall presentation.
Sometimes issues come up and you can't predict/avoid them. We once had our interface keep disconnecting mid song. I tore our tracks rig apart, tested every cable, swapped interfaces, only to find out we had a slightly loose USB port on our Macbook. A little gaffe tape every set and it fixed the issue.
Also, I know this is your band's first tour, but the type of shows and setup/teardown needs to be taken into consideration. If you know you are going to have a short change-over, you need to design your rig around it. If you do a bunch of festival style shows, maybe running your own board/monitors would help. It helps with quick set-changes since you know that there will be consistency in your ears from night to night and you can focus all of your time on line-check.
On a side note, the people you tour with really do become like family, for better or worse. 😂 On good tours, it's hard saying goodbye to all the friends you just made, it you really bond over shared experiences.
Anyway, congrats on the first tour. Hopefully you guys get to tour some more! Maybe I'll have to catch a show if you're back in Nash. 😏

I am a blues guy. I play in 4/4 and live in the blues scale. I play in either A or E (because I know where the four boxes are on the fretboard) and when you hit a dissident note, me and everyone around cringes. With this, you can play any note you want. There are no dissident notes or "wrong" notes. That's the part that I can't seem to get my mind around and accept Jazz for what it is. Because if I tried that playing blues, the band would fire me. I watched Justin and Lee on the Rut Buster videos about jamming on the sixth. Even that concept is putting me out of my comfort zone because you still have to know when to land on the sixth note in the scale and not the fifth or seventh like is what I normally do. So watching these jazz videos are helping me to see that if it's in the right context, it can sound nice and musical.

But then I realized just calling you all (amazing, accomplished, inspiring musicians) sellouts doesn't sound like a joke. I'm not good at jokes. If you cant tell. I love what you guys do

But watching this just now put me right back in the bus and warmed my heart . Funny how I’m missing those last minute technical difficulties which obviously worked perfect the previous night , I’d strongly give anything to have fix our keyboard players rig while still playing bass mid song or find that nightmare power cable that just decided to my pedal board howl like a banshee ...
