- In this video I share with you how I removed and replaced my driver seat cushion in my ram 3500 2012 6.7 Cummins truck. It was a simple job to do and normally would probably only take 45 minutes at the longest. Replacing your cushion is such a worthwhile effort! I promise you it will be worth it to have more support again!

Those rings are called Hog Rings / upholstery rings. Tractor supply carries them and the pliers to install them. I also got a new seat cover on eBay for 25 bucks and it worked great and matches well.
Thank you for the information!
Did you also replace the cushion?
@@johnramsey6604 no mine was still good.
Weld it back together. I did mine and used metal rod, worked great
I'm glad I bought the seat cover as well.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Get the bottom of the seat frame at Junk Yard
Oh yeah, that new cushion made a world of difference on my 08!!!
👍💪
It’s a game changer! No question! Saving my life one trip at a time haha
Great Video! That job scares Most! Thanks for all the helpful information. Those Rings are called Hogg Rings, there's a special pair of pliers one needs to squeeze them in place! Have a Fantastic Day
Sean you are awesome! Thanks for sharing that info! I may have to buy the special pliers for the next time I replace a cushion. Thanks for reaching out my friend!
@@HighMileageHelper a kit with pliers and rings are $20
Daniel you drive all over the nation , while doing a 30 minute break check out a salvage yard in the area you're in or going to be in , maybe on a 34 hour reset ," you pick a part" or something like that, there everywhere.
Drive on man 😎
Yes sir! That’s what I was thinking my friend! Birds of a feather! 😎 thanks my friend!!
Awesome video. Thanks for the help and instruction
Bro how do you takeoff the lever? :-) I saw you put it back on but you did not show how to take it off. I’m going nuts
Very slowly and gently with some type of long screw driver to act as a prying bar. It’s only connected to the metal hinging action with a plastic covering that lines up with the metal part. I would slowly try to pry inbetween the seat side cover and the lever. I would get as close to the hinging part of the handle as possible, to have the most torque.
I believe they have some type of heavy duty glue that helps keep it together. I nearly thought I broke it off when I finally got it to come off. Go slow and you’ll get it! God bless!
@@HighMileageHelperLooks like a spring clip to me ....... at 7:14 into the vid.
Hog nose rings are what they are called. They make a tool for those. Check with local salvage yards for a seat frame. Should be pretty easy to source.
Unfortunately there’s nothing near me but I definitely want to go back in there and replace that spring situation. Thanks for watching and reaching out my friend! God bless!
Can it be welded? Or reinforced?
How you removed side black plastic piece
I have a screw in from inside the plastic going down into frame
There is not even an inch to put screw or ratchet through
Im thinking screw should have been from bottom but someone installed it the opposite way ?
How did those zipties work? Seems like they'd give pretty easily.
It's about time you do something with that seat, lol. You're going to feel like you got a new truck underneath you now.
Brother! You already know! I still have my sights on that fancy fancy chair down the road though. Just still saving little by little with the help others! 😉😎
LKQ auto parts will usually have your seat and match the color.
Thanks i want to replace my cheap ass factory cover in my truck with only 60000 miles on it. Cant belive its worn out already. Im going to do this before i need to replace the foam. If i dont the foam will wear out quickly from sliding in and out of the truck.
I went to a wrecker and bought a set of seats and center counsel that were much better than mine. Did you get cushion from Geno's? Great Video!
Yes sir! From Geno’s!
I went with a cheaper ebay set, only paid like 100 bucks for cushion and matching seat cover. Here's hoping it lasts a while though haha
Hog rings
How much food do you consume in that seat please replace the original seat cover
Great video nice tips
Happy to help!
I did my seat cushion and oem cover without removing seat it was a pain though. I want to try doing same on the back but not sure if I can without removing it from vehicle
Good work!
Hey man! It was about time! I was sinking into my chair and it was not fun. Thanks for your support brother! 😎
@@HighMileageHelper are you going to figure out a fix for the cracked plate? Maybe screw a wooden block underneath?
@@JoelRipke thinking of just going to a salvage yard and getting a used one. Can’t find them online, so my next trip will include a pit stop at a salvage yard. I might grab some other little goodies if possible as well for dirt cheap!
Hey, I haven't heard anything back from Synergy yet, good or bad. Anything you can find out for me?
The last I heard, Synergy was on a hiring freeze until August. I don't know anything beyond that
@@HighMileageHelper ok ty Daniel
You mention the trouble getting lever off...BUT you don't tell us HOW YOU GOT IT OFF... You talk about the rods in cover to begin with but You never tell us What to do with them........WTF Dude!
What of you have a power sest..I have a big horn is it still the same way
I believe so, I just think there would be more harnesses to disconnect down below as well as on the side, there would be wires to disconnect instead of where that manual handle is located.
Edy useful
Your little rings are called hog rings
