Where Locals Actually Eat in Prague?!

- Last time we showed you where to get traditional Czech food in Prague. But let's be honest, we don't really eat it that often (because kebab is kinda better than guláš). Here are our favourite places where we ACTUALLY go to.

Blink twice if you are in danger
@CHIARA what in the fuck
@@mesp what’d he say
Darn, I'm 10 months too late to make that joke.
I firmly believe the Honest Guide needs a sticker to place in windows of approved and recommended businesses :)
Then later he can make a video about places that have fake stickers
What a great idea, except the dishonest people that this guides pick up will probably copy the stickers.
@@Dude-etiquette he can order holographic ally prktected stickers in some typographies
that would be so cool
maybe he can make a sticker with a qr code to verify it's legibility
Baguette Boulevard is the one thing I missed most about Prague in terms of food (sorry but I got hooked) and desperately trying to recreate here at home in Melbourne. My husband always ask for "baguette Boulevard" style brunch at home lol.
Baguette boylevard tasted like shit
Love to see the "normal" places you guys visit. This is the kind of information I am always looking for. Thanks 😁
We went to a couple of your recommended places from a your older video back in 2017 (our one and only visit to Prague/Praha/Prag), and found them excellent.
It has become quite the tradition watching Janek's and Honza's videos every weekend, keep it up guys
Thank you for sticking with us!
@@ROBOROBOROBOROBO a "scam hotspot tour" would be lovely - grab a baguette and visit the nastiest scam spots in town! :)
I recently went to a few countries in Europe and now I finally understand why you came up with the idea for your channel. I know your channel is devoted to Prague (Czech Republic), but the concepts still apply to anyone who travels to Europe. There's so many tourist traps and scams out there that sometimes we don't even realize as a tourist. Thanks for putting all of this content together! I hope to visit Prague one day.
What other cities have you visited?
Tattoo at 4:37 on the arm of the Roesel girl reads "domov" in braille, which means "home"
January the 4th is the World Braille Day :-) lovely unintended easter egg.
As a Vietnamese, i'm happy that our cultures has spread pretty far and glad that many people enjoy them dearly.
A czechia work mate told me vietnamese are welcome in his home country
Well, after Slovaks the second biggest minority in Czech Republic are actually Vietnamese... You would feel right at home. Just fyi.
Canada also has amazing many amazing phở restaurants!
It's kind of fascinating. I think Vietnamese are like the third biggest minority in Czech Republic (the only two bigger are Ukrainians and Slovaks) I heard that the reason for this is that Czech Republic offered to house refugees during the war and a lot of them stayed afterwards and also because of shared government programmes for students - both countries were communist republics at the time so the cooperation is not that surprising, but it's still interesting (at least for me.)
After the Vietnam war, the were a lot of refugees who came from vietnam.
Few things make me as nostalgic about Czech Republic as food. A lot has changed in the 33 years since I left. Thank you so much for honestly guiding non-locals through our beautiful country. Šťastný nový rok, doufejme že bude líp. A že se letos budu moci podívat na rodnou hroudu!😍
Strasne moc se zmenilo. Nejhorsi byly ty turisticke kramy po celem stredu, trdelniky, kravinky made in China a podobne. Jsem zvedavy jestli se to trochu zlepsilo za posledni 3 roky.
Janek & Honza thanks for making this video. My fiance and I went to the second location you mentioned here - Bageterie Boulevard during our trip to Prague and it was amazing. We liked it so much, that we ended up eating there twice in a singe day. And yes, it is affordable. Your videos were helpful with other information as well which my fiance (who has been to Prague before) didn't know but I did (thanks to your videos). We will surely plan another trip there in near future. Till then, I hope to see some more videos and enjoy the place more. Thank you Honest Guides for adding memories to my first trip to Europe. Cheers...
nice
I love Roesel, but I also loved the little shop that used to be in the space they expanded into. Roesel was so so good, food and drinks!! Very very happy Roesel is doing so well and growing, sad the shop isn't there.
Any clue why did the shop close
@CHIARA go away spammer !
@@thatonepole We loved the shop too! But it didn't survive because of covid. We're happy that Roesel is the one who took over instead of some touristy bs shop instead!
@@HONESTGUIDE So the 2nd Pragtique is down too? That's some sad news...
Pragtique still at least has an eshop, and it seems their orders can in fact be picked up at Roesel! I was sad to see the shop go, but at least they are not completely gone.
I am from Norway and I will be visiting Prague in the summer for the first time. I am so excited to see Prague. Thank you for your videos.
Now I need to go back again! Can't thank you guys enough for the U Červeného Páva recommendation in the other video. Went there the other day on NYE, and while Staroměstské Náměstí was packed shoulder to shoulder, we got right in and had a super nice, low-key meal... and a much needed svíčková fix after 2.5 years.
Went to Roesel Cafe a couple of years ago following your recommendation. It's such a warm and welcoming place. I was surprised it was right next to the touristy city centre. Cheap beer, great food and a good vibe overall. Thanks for the recommendation!
love your channel guys - you truly are honest guides :)
being in prague for just 6 months. I learnt so much through your channel
great work and kudos to the stuff coming each time
This is so cool; I trust you guys. Thanks for being so honest and friendly. Stay safe, healthy and keep 'em coming!
Me and my friend visited Prague for new year eve and it was awesome, i love your city and I followed you recommendations and it was worth it ! Excelent job guys. I hope your chanell will keep growing.Have a happy new 2022! 🥳🥳
"Really better than goulash..." he says whilst standing practically right next to Malostranská Beseda, which has one of the best goulashes in the city.
he knows, it was funny af
You do a great job promoting the best and most honest restaurants and pubs!! I really appreciate it! It was 10 years go I was in Prague the last time. Now I feel I have to go again :).
We have a trip to Prague (plus Budapest, Vienna and Bratislava) booked for June this year. Really looking forward to it and have been watching a load of your videos and have learnt a lot. We'll be watching more very soon. Great channel, many thanks.
The production quality of this channel is insane. Great video
When I was staying in Prague for a long time many years back I would mostly go to Vinohrady to eat, there is many good restaurants there and less tourists. But down near Old Town, my favorite thing was to get a burger at a butcher shop called Nase Maso, which I think perhaps has the best burger I've had anywhere in the world made with in-house dry aged beef. I ate a lot of kebabs while I was staying in Prague, mostly from a kebab shop I liked that was close to a good craft beer bar called Bad Flash Bar. Any food that goes well with beer is well-suited for Prague, I think.
I am hoping I can visit Prague again soon, and I will definitely try some of these spots out! There is a huge Vietnamese population in Prague and the Vietnamese food is always really good. I've really enjoyed watching your videos to bring back fond memories.
As a vegetarian, I really like Bageterie Boulevard, but my favorite place to eat in Prague is the Raclette stand in the market on Náměstí Republiky. It is probably only open in the summer months, but each time I have been to Prague I eat there as often as I can. ;) Fairly cheap and very good.
My favorite type of episodes! Thank you!
So nice to see your reports again, guys 😍
I went through most of your videos in 2017/18, when visiting Prague, and then Olomouc + Vysocina.
Olomouc, PLEASE, a guide on Olomouc would be terrific. This is a city with a lot of history, and not many tourists.
This video came out right on time as we are travelling to Prague tomorrow ! Thank you !
Thanks for this. It’s always good to find good, local places when we visit. 👍🏻
I am going to Czech quite often lately, so I dont feel like a tourist anymore. I've been to diffrent Bageterie Boulevards and I can really recommend it. Thanks for showing us all the places, I think next time I will visit the Wokin restaurant :)
One million subscribers!!!!🥳 Congratulations, Honest Guide!!!
Excellent video! Thanks guys... Happy New Year!!
My Fiancée and I went to tonnes of locations you recommended in your videos when we visited in 2018. Roesel was an absolute highlight! We went back again the next day for a beer and cake after having lunch there the first day. We regularly reminisce about that place, and David was amazing. Gave us great beer recommendations and had a really nice chat with him.
We also went to Baguette Boulevard twice while we were there so it was funny to see that in this video!
This video is very informative, thank you for making it. It's helping to plan my travel next month. Cheers!!
I love to see this video! I ate at most of this places regularly when I lived in Prague for one year. I guess I became a local!
When I'm in Prague, I go to the bageterie, since they have gluten free bread and very clear allergy menu! Love the place!
I was in Prague 2 years ago, love the city, historic places, food, beer, is definitely a place to visit when you in Europe.
ive been binging your videos on scams and they;re all great, but this is the one that finally got me to sub. it's so authentic and im definitley going to use this when I visit
I’ve seen you a couple times at Kafe a hrnky! Really nice to see that you actually love the places you recommend!
Every city need someone like you that explains everything honestly about their city, how to avoid scams and how to find good spots
Díky za video! V únoru jedu do Prahy, tak tohle mi fakt pomohlo :)
Went to Prague last November, and I've eaten Kebab and Vietnamese food there. Thank you for the videos. Hope to see you some day in Portugal.
Great video guys. Děkuji!
I don't even plan to go to Prague (yet) but this is such a good quality content, keep it up!
Thank you for helpful information. Great job!
Man you are awesome, I like your simplicity..wish one day I visit these places
I eat often at Bageterie Boulevard, nice place. Also what I like and is available at my hood is Liberske Lahudky - good stuff.
This channel provides with the most comprehensive travel guides to Prague. My favourite place to eat and drink is U Medviku
Glad u’re loving to eat our food, damn i needed ‘ Bún Chả ‘ right now
Díky, za upřímná epizoda.
I am enjoying this. Even though I am Czech, I don't live in Prague and barely even go there. This channel at least helps me pick good food when I'm there :D
Your videos are really great and so helpful to organise a trip to Prague thank you for that! Don’t forget to mention the price of the different thinks you mention in your videos that also is very useful. Thanks again guys
Thanks to your vid I went to Svetozor last week - delicious and great value.
Awsome video guys. Looking forward to the next episode about the coffee places. I hope that you don't show the place, that Honza recommended me last time, to avoid crowdedness.
Love that wall just great Art. Thanks for the show, the food looks good for a fast bite.
As an Asian, I would love to try those noodles when I come to Prague and of course the other food you guys have recommended, thanks again Janek and Honza!
is the any vegetables noodles in PRAGUE ?

@@hiteshbhagat2609 I'm not sure as well, haven't visited Prague yet!
Hello Janek, I love your videos about Prague. Every one of them makes me more and more excited about the visit I will make there in August of 2023. In the background of many of them I'm seeing a very interesting tram system. Have you done any videos about it?
I've been to a most of the major cities. I love exploring their public transportation system. I've spent days just riding the trams, trolley, buses and ferries in places like New Delhi, Tokyo, Melbourne, San Fran, Mexico DF, Amsterdam, Sydney, etc. and I can't wait to experience yours.
Love ❤ your videos. Love you both janek and honza
I absolutely loved Bageterie Boulevard. Such a simple concept but you can`t go wrong with that! yum
This is one of your best videos.
This should be renamed "Where I usually eat in Prague", there are beautiful places in Prague that I would love to send you to try instead.
Exactly. And most of these places are for rich people.
@@Vojife xDDDDD yea kebab and bageterie for rich people
2:59 "We're like 200 years away from it (Charles Bridge)" 😆😆
:D
love you guys!
Such good content, I always want to eat normal local foods but not from tourist scams, I hope there would be a CZcamsr like you on every country❤
Thanks for the suggestion! I've been at the Roesel today! :)
I had some incredible food in one of the Kozel tap rooms. The Goulash and dumplings was phenomenal!
What I like about Prague is that there are numerous dining options from “quick and cheap” places to full service sit down restaurants. Also, there are different types of foods such as Vietnamese, South American, Italian, Czeck, and much more.
Hey, here is an idea for a video!
Do a video on all the different nationality foods served in Prague.
That, I'm sure, is a constantly changing scene and would date very quickly/they'd get tons of comments going "you forgot this restaurant in this suburb serving this national food!"
;-)
I ate the Brussels baguette just tonight! Glad to learn it has the Janek seal of approval.
Superb video !
Some years back, when we were on a graduation trip to Prague, a small group of us went to Muc Dong, and we really enjoyed it! Funny that now, years later, I find it recommended in a CZcams video.
Thanks for the tips!!
Different places on a daily basis? What a concept! Genius!
For coffee you certainly don't go to Starbucks but to Alfredo Caffé where I met you last year!
Amazing to keep seeing new vids of you! Keep 'em coming :-D
Happened upon Bageterie Boulevard when I visited last year. Such a great cheap and cheerful quick meal.
That kebap place once saved me from some serious jetlag hunger, pleased to see you like it
Will be in Prague next month for the first time...hope to see you guys on the street, or probably more likely in a cafe. Thanks for all the info.
Im so happy i came across ur channel youre like the first person i know that knows about my home country so yeah😅
This was a very relatable video, I also go to Wokin and Bageterie on my lunch breaks a lot! I recommend the Swiss baguette ;) I would add Dhaba Beas to the list (I believe that was covered in some of the previous videos too), it's a perfect place for a quick lunch, you just add anything you like on your tray and then pay by weight. And it's all vegetarian :)
going tomorrow to Prague, will hopefully try some of your recommendations 👍
I never knew Janek and Honza enjoyed Vietnamese food!
I'm so proud of our country because we have something special that has been spreaded far and wide.
I love how kebab has come to all european countries and we have collectively admitted it's a great comfort-food and it's actually pretty balanced - it has meat, carbs and veggies!
You're editing has gotten really REALLY good. Not that is was crap before, but it's now as good as anything Hollywood would make. Seriously.
My wife & I just visited Prague after touring Portugal, Spain, Northern Italy, Austria & Bravaria. Prague had the best food, hands down! And the best place was Kantýna. I could eat there every day! Their pork and beef roasts, stews & brisket are outstanding, as well as their roasted veggies & potatoes! Plus great draft beer!
3:24 well, what a coincidence. My appartment for this summer will be at 'Na Bělidle' street so thanks for the tip Honza! I'll take your word for it ;)
I needed this video like yesterday :) I was in Prague exactly a month ago for 9 days and I went to BB Baguette several times and love it. Always order the same thing - smoke salmon baguette and it was a very good fast bite! I wish I knew about other places you mentioned because I went to a couple of restaurant there that just wasn’t good at all. And at one place I ate less than half the food because it was too salty and the owner said it is free but I insisted on paying half.
that baguette sandwich place looks awesome
When traveling I always look for a place near to a university or college campus which is busy with students, generally they tend to be reasonably priced and have good food. Also if I ask "do you speak English" and they dismissively reply "no" it's an added bonus.
You'd love Brno, then.
Pretty much the whole city is a student campus, in a way. :D
Bravo! Amusing and informative!!!
I got into Prague in the afternoon and had a long jet-lagged nap, then went out for food at night. Ended up at that Bagetterie Boulevard beside Wenceslas square and got the chips with tartar sauce. On top, not on the side, because I didn't know to ask for it on the side. First food in Prague. It was one of the only places open.
Love you guys! Conclusion: young guys everywhere eat the same food. We 🇧🇬 have Syrian-owned kebab places, and they are on a whole different level! 😂
I went to WOKIN several times and .. was perfect to me! well organised system, good quality and great taste.
omg i literally order Pho Bo every week from that place on Andel. It is called "Vietnam SH Andel" and it has THE BEST Pho Bo so far.
These guys basically planned our three days in Prague. It’s a wonderful city and their recommendations were great. So good in fact we ran into the at the Golden Elephant.
This is nice to know. Next time when I visit with my dad I will recommend to him some of the places. He really enjoys places what are possible more visited by locals. :)
@yberchillix Kavarna Adria is another local place have you been there?
@@saabcars2069 Nope, I haven't been there. But I remeber that I checked out that statue of the dude next to it. 😄
awesome to see Roesel is expanding! one of my favorite places that i used to frequent. but also sad to see Pragtique go. did they close down entirely or move to a different location?
Seems they don't have an actual place, but at least they still have eshop. Maybe once the situation gets better, they might open again a shop too?
Glad to see that mosaic is still there!
There's actually one more even cooler thing about it:
It's early computer art.
Designed with help from some sort of computer program.
I know this because it was designed by a distant relative of mine - my mother told me about it, because he explained it to her as he was working on it.
Sadly, distant relative I've never met myself so I can't remember his name - but I believe it was a collaboration between a mathematician (said relative) and an artist (who was responsible for turning the math into the visual representation done in tiles).
I agree on the B Boulevard...Suggestion do an episode on Georgian Restaurants in Prague (like Polevkarna Mancho and many others)
I can't believe there is bun cha right next to the charles bridge!! ever since i traveled to vietnam i have searched for it everywhere and only a few places deep in the ethnic strip malls of LA and Chicago have i found it. will definitely be stopping at Muc Dong when i visit prague in june!
Every part of Prague used to have "Chinese" restaurants with 59kc dishes. Was very convenient and budget friendly at the time. Some of them still exist (Harmonie in Zizkov or Kang Le ) but charge 99kc at least
YOOOO!!!! I’m super excited!!! Been following your channel for years, and planning to visit Prague next year…but I want to say….Welcome to my CITY!!!
