    It’s mindboggling to see how the big 3, who seemed to have their EV game on a year ago are now taking on water and listing to starboard. Looks like the good ship Tesla has them torpedoed amidships. Without swallowing the losses of serious adaptation it will never occur. What has been happening lately almost guarantees their demise as they waffle on being serious EV producers because of any red ink. Toyota and Mazda, to be fair are the same. We all remember how a scant 5 years ago Tesla itself was on the financial ropes to upscale the EV thing and came close to going under. What a difference a day makes !

    • @4literv6
      @4literv6 Před 11 měsíci +5

      Nope, the equinox is alleged to be the trim slotting below the blazer evs. I think this is an excuse to eliminate the sub 30k older bolts.
      Bring it back with ultium tech and a few other updates in late 2025? Then ask 30k for the lowest trim, 35k for the euv trims+options.
      If eligible for the full pos redeemable tax credit/rebate of $7,500 by then? Gm knows they will still sell well, then they can price the cheapest equinox evs around 35-37k, mid trims low 40s, high trims in mid 40s. Blazer cheapest lt2 fwd low range trim will be right at 47-50k on up.
      Smart pricing strategy if you really think about it for a bit. Crazy though atm the blazer evs are at or above the Cadillac lyriq prices. 🙂

      I think the Bolt announcement is a smokescreen, I doubt they'll ever build it. If they can't build a sub 50K Blazer how are they going to build a 30K Bolt on the same platform. The reason that Bolts are so cheap is that GM is having a literal fire sale on them. They must lose a fortune on every Bolt they sell, that's not sustainable which is why they cancelled it. The cancellation caused an uproar which is why they made the Ultium Bolt announcement but I'd bet they don't have any intention to ever build it.

  • @JoeyBlogs007

    I can see why. They didn't want to compete against their own base level Mustang. They want a remodelled vehicle that can compete in a higher cost segment. To me that makes business sense, especially if they don't have that higher segment fully covered by the Mustang. Going on reports, the Blazer is also considered to be better than the Mustang. More range, more charging options, more power, almost as fast 0 to 60 and more luxury generally. It's more in line with the higher end Mustangs. Thus no surprises they want to price it higher as the base Mustang is also around $45K. It's actually being repriced closer to a higher end Ford Mustang Mach-E California Route 1 which is also around $57K.

That white fake leather is doing bad things because people are people and kids are messy. Tesla are needing new batteries at $22K a piece just out of warranty and that is far, far worse than having your timing chain or turbo replaced. Data supports Tesla being a low quality brand with J.D. Power recording 257 problems per 100 cars vs. 141 for Ram, 167 for Chevy, and 167 for GMC. Ford Motor Company was Henry's third try as a car maker. He had a thieving partner in Ford, bank investors who took profits before production at the Henry Ford Company. But at Ford Motor Company, Henry took charge. For each car that left the assembly line, the company investors would pay Henry $100.00 BEFORE being delivered. As costs were reduced, Ford dropped prices accordingly, and Hank still got a 'saw buck' for every one. By 1927, Henry Ford had 15,000,000 Hundred Dollar Bills. That's in Tesla's formula.

    I think the LT1 is only cancelled for the 2024 model year. Under Color Options, the LT1 is still listed on the Chevrolet Blazer EV website.
    I think GM could be waiting until the other two Ultium Cells plants come online with more capacity, then the lower trim levels will show up. *Could be similar with the base Silverado EV Work Truck.

  • @gridjac
    @gridjac Před 11 měsíci +1

    So now we have the 2LT as the cheapest? This must be because the “30k” Equinox is going to be in that low 40’s price range when it comes out. That’s really disappointing. If we want widespread EV adoption, the cars have to be affordable. 57k is definitely not affordable for many and it’s really not much competition for Tesla.

    Barra has lost her mind. Just wait & see the Equinox EV price when it comes out………

  • @Jeff-wb3hh
    @Jeff-wb3hh Před 10 měsíci

    No, I don't think the Blazer 2LT will sell at that new price. Remember GM's announcment way back in April 2018 that the Buick Enspire EV will be coming out with a 370 mile range by 2021. About a year after that big annoucement, they then said it was actually go to be a gasoline car. What? We then never heard about it again. Even today, it is the best looking EV I have ever seen, but GM quickly sqwashed it with no explanation. I lost hope in GM in April 2022 and bought a new Kia EV6 RWD Wind with a 310 mile range and I'm loving it.

    I suspect the market research on buyer demand hasn't panned out as expected. As you say, GM doesn't want to make a loss on the car, so they've upped the price and backed off production numbers. Lower scale and possibly breaking even or small profit.
    These legacy companies have to commit to BEVs or they will eventually die. There is no successful halfway house.
